Here is another set of plans for a table, however it is metal and requires welding. http://www.afabonline.com/table_lift_plans.htm

I would LOVE to see the Beta Ratios for the same particle size, say 2, 5 and 20 Mircons from the SAME testing lab, for ALL filters on the market that fit our engines...but sadly that is just a dream... The Beta Ratio is one of the BEST tools for checking an oil filter. I wonder if Consumer reports has done this testing.........

iPod vs. the RSV 13-pin c-bus
KiteSquid replied to MrRadi8's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I got a very nice return call from the fine folks over at Clarion. They do not have a c-Bus adaptor....... They do not have plans to make a c-bus adaptor. Yamaha would have to request one...... They would not provide me with the standard for the c-bus. They did offer to sell me a service manual for the radio, but he did not have the price. IF you had this manualy you MIGHT be able to reverse enginer the c-bus, but I doubt that there is much info on HOW the bus operates in the manual, however I may be mistaken.... IF someone has their fairing appart, could they please post the Clarion model number for the stereo?????????? OR call 800 421 5080 to see what the price of the manual is????? -

While sombody has their fairing appart, can they please post a photo of the stereo name plate? We need the make and model. I ASSUME they are made by Clairon (Why would Yamaha Motor Company NOT use stero components made by Yamaha Electronics Corporation is beyond me....) Somebody needs to contat Clarion and get the C-bus standard. I left a voice mail at their customer service number... Maybe if 300 of us asked for an adapter, they would manufacture one....... OR a replacement stereo with more functionality..... battery problem maybe
KiteSquid replied to Eddie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Or pop the top of the "sealed" battery and add some distilled water to a low cell, but this to is a short term fix. Be sure to re-seal any holes you make in the top of the battery..... -

I is most likely a ground loop. This happens when all the devices are not grounded at the same point on the vehecle. Here is a good discription of how it works, and how to fix the problem, however I have not found an isolator on the market with 1/8" plugs on both ends of the unit..... you might be able to cobble someting up and put it in the fairing.... http://www.bcae1.com/glisoltr.htm Or you could buy this it Radio Shack and modify it for 1/8" jack & plug. http://rsk.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pRS1C-2160121w345.jpg Clickable image.... I just did another internet search and found one at WingStuff.com but it costs more, however it is turnkey http://www.wingstuff.com/images//store1/pgroups/4048_image1.gif clickable image..... $29.95..... Another thought, you might move the ground for the outlet and the stereo to the same point on the bike........ -
On Friday I purchased a replacement H4 bulb for my headlight form eAutoworks.com. Piaa Intense White bulbs. http://www.eautoworks.com/productimages/PIAA_4100K_White_H4.jpg (Clickable image) I am waiting for them to arrive. Before I purchased them I called Piaa and they said they are new on the market. so new that Piaa does not yet list them on their website. I was looking for as much light as possible without having to install relays in my lighting system, and these should do the trick!!!!!!! The price is nice, compared to other bulbs on the market. At $46 includes ground shipping for a pair is IMHO quite reasonable. These should be VERY BRIGHT and very white without that blingey blue cast that other lights have!!!!! Click the image above to go to their web site..... Oh, and they also carry Intense White H3 bulbs for $44.16 a pair, so your passing lamps color and light output will match the headlamp......... Click HERE for the H3 bulbs. BTW I had silverstars on a car and hated them!!!!!!!!! not enough light for the price.... HIDs are way too expensive!!!!! You can buy a lot of gas for $324. BTW what Piaa auxiliary lights did you have installed??? are you getting rid of them?

There are 2 trains of thought on using SeaFoam. 1: Corrective maintance. It is used to de-gunk a gunked up fuel system. Put LOTS into the carbs by running a concentrated dose thru the fuel tank, or by poring directly into the throat of the carberator (This will NOT clean out the bowls or any part of the fuel tract at or before the jets) from Seafoam's website: 2: Preventative maintance. run a much less concentrated dose of SeaFoam thru the enire fuel path periodeadocly. Also from Seafoam's website: SeaFoam's MSDS is here: http://www.montanajacks.com/msds/seafoam-msds.pdf

I dont have that info, but it would be GREAT to have it posted in the tech secon. I recomend you go to the manufacturer of the radio..... In my 2007 it is Clarion, but that does not help you...sorry....

RSV99 wiring diagram??
KiteSquid replied to Lepapehermann's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I to would be interested in detailed schematics of the entire motorcycle's electrical system, with part numbers for all parts.... BTW I had my fairing off the other day and I noticed that the radio is manufactured by Clarion. I did not get any model information from it while I had the bike apart. You may try getting the radio schematic from Clarion. -
I don't look forward to the rain in the face issue... I wish the deflectors were able to extend/retract from the fairing at will..... here is an idea for some parts maker. I volunteer to beta test a pre-production set...... I do wish that the Radiator was mounted BEHIND the driver... or that the airflow from the radiator was directable like on Honda's Gold Wing, but I paid a LOT less for this bike than I would have paid for a Gold Wing.....

Cruise Control Problem
KiteSquid replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Firebird, Chalk it up to a learning experience. You learned something from this and became wiser. I want to thank you for posting your experience HERE so we ALL can learn from it. A wise man has lots of knowledge, a kind man shares it!!!!!!! You sir, are VERY kind!!!!!! I also belive that a day that you did not learn something in is a day wasted!!!!!! -
I removed Protector 1 and Protector 2 (the plastic wind deflectors that are installed on the bottom of the fairing [parts 41 and 42 from page F11 of the parts book]) and WOW did I see increased air flow!!!! When the weather gets cooler, I will re-install them. If you remove your's be advised that there are 3 screws in each of them and the top screw is smaller.... DONT put one of the bigger screws in the top hole. I stored the parts in seperate zip-lock bags.

I want a taller windshiled.... Is there a windshiled stretching machine out there? Will I suffer a loss in fuel economy????

I went with a solution that did not require me to mount a remote in my bike. I have a LiftMaster garage door operator and I got a mini remote control from my favorte garage door operator installer (Father In-law) that I keep on the bikes key ring, so it is right by the key switch on the bike when I am riding... because on my Yamaha Venture I cannot remove the key while the bike is running ...which is something to look into for a future mod... are there any locksmiths out there? the one I have is the top left in the photo below (Model 970LM) I like the high contrast of the button and the case: http://www.liftmaster.com/cw/images/products/minis_landing_revised.jpg I programed the two outside buttons to open my door and the center button to open MrsSquid's door and my door at the same time. It seams to be reasonably water resistant, so I am not afraid to ride the with it in the rain, however it is NOT waterproof.......caveat emptor. Check the manufacturer's web site for your operator to see if they offer something similar for your brand of operator.
