  1. Thanks for all the info. I found [bryan 52577] pictures on how to solder the board. Are there others out there? I work better from pics than text. I am a little afraid of melting more of the board than intended.
  2. HI folks, I have an 83 xvz1200 that will cycle through the CM warning symbols while I'm riding. All my systems work fine, I know the side stand is not down while I am travelling at 60 mph. For instance, after riding 10 miles the side stand and oil pressure symbols will appear and go off after a few minutes. The fuel gauge will also show random levels and then return to normal. Other times the tail light warning will come on then go off. I have had the dash out and the board looks brand new. I am not sure if re-soldering the board is the answer. Are there any other options? Thanks for your help, Dale
  3. Sorry for any confusion,I called the resistor a diode by mistake. I am not an electrician, and only know enough to be dangerous. I will choose my words more carefully in the future.
  4. I am working on a 1983 Yamaha Venture. I just bypassed the battery sensor using the existing diode soldered to the accessory fuse holder. The warning light still comes on occasionally. Is this safe, I do not want to burn out my monitor. I get the same voltage before and after the resistor, shouldn't it be lower. My second question is that my tail lights seem to stop working when my battery is low. But they come back on as soon as my power is back up. Has anyone else run into this problem? Nothing else seems to be affected. Thanks. Dale
  5. I did the speedometer last November, mine was more like a scream.Scared the crap out of me. I am thinking it might be thermostat related as it low and forward on bike.
  6. I wish it was that simple, I ride solo. Thanks
  7. Thanks for all the info,I am still trying to note when and under what conditions it pops up. It does not like cold mornings,45-50 degrees but is very quiet coming home 65-75 degrees. The jury is still out. Thanks again
  8. Hello folks, I'm new to this forum and thought I would try a post. I bought a 1983 1200 xvz with 24000 on last year and put 4000 miles on it with no problems. I did however start to hear a faint chirping noise coming from somewhere low in engine. It usually starts after 10 miles, comes and goes around 2000-2500 rpm. This year it's louder and more pronounced. If I play with the throttle and clutch it will quiet down. It sounds like George Jetson's car(as some put it), or a little like a belt tensioner pulley going bad on a car. My question is, has the clutch noise spoken of in the forum been seen in the first generation bike? Is there a fix? Thank you for looking.
