  1. UFFDA???? Cheers, Leonard
  2. Did you ride a wheelie all the way there???? Cheers, Leonard
  3. I feel your pain. I'm taking my 07 in tuesday for the same thing. $800 quote. I did the rest of the 16K maintenance myself. Carb sync, clean air filters, new iridium plugs, oil change, etc. Cheers, Leonard
  4. I've had similar issues. The squealing is caused by a feedback loop and lack of input impedence, when using only one headset. I find I have to lower the IC volume when using only one headset. I've gotten into a habit of starting out at level 12 and then once we're moving, increasing the level to 16 - 18. As long as both headsets are plugged in before turning on the ignition, you're fine. But if only one, it can be painful. Yes, I hear the alternator noise also. I have also found that wearing earplugs really helps. You can still hear the headset and music, but it gets ride of the wind noise, etc. Cheers, Leonard
  5. Hmmm.... I was told they did not use any packing. I'll have to go back and check now. Cheers, Leonard
  6. Third vote for the Khromewerks. I have the turndown tips also. The final item that sold me on them is that they do NOT have to be repacked. The bubs should be repacked every 10K miles or so from what I've been told. Cheers, Leonard
  7. Westminster is continuing to grow as is all of SoCal. Still a great place to live. Cheers, Leonard
  8. Hi GW, Thanks for the info. cheers, Leonard
  9. I did the air intake mod and installed K&N filters on my 07 RSV. How often do they need to be cleaned and re-oiled? I installed them at 1K and now have 11K on the bike. Cheers, Leonard
  10. You may also want to turn the intercom volume up. My wife swears that it makes a difference when I use the CB to talk to her on her V-Star. Cheers, Leonard
  11. Hi Sterling, I have the same bike and same problem. Let me know what you find out please. Cheers, Leonard
  12. Hey Rick, I wanted to let you know I've had the mod installed for just over 2 weeks and it's already saved my bacon. This weekend I was on a back mountain road and came over a crest a little to hot, to find that the road dropped down at about a 20% grade and the road was very wet and super slick. It was overcast and cold so it may have been black ice. I bared touched the brake and still managed to lock it slightly even with the mod. I fishtailed but kept it upright. I did need a clean set of drawers though! I am 100% sure that if I did not have your mod installed, I probably would not have been able to recover from the fishtail. The rider behind me said he could read the venture logo on my saddlebag. Thanks for formalizing the mod. I have already recommended it to a handful of RSV / TD owners I'm in contact with. Once again, thanks for the mod and hard work. Cheers, Leonard
  13. I completely agree. On my wife's vstar the factory wiring is 18G and after the lights are one for a little bit, the wire is warm to the touch. On my venture, I ran 12 guage stranded for the Stebel horn, Passing Lamps and "fog' lights. Also ran a power bar to the trunk so I can replace any of the accessory fuses without having to disassemble her. Blew the fuse on the Stebel a week ago. 30 sec repair with the power bar being in the trunk. Cheers, Leonard
  14. Yessir, I'm not afraid of them wrenches. Just wondering when I really should have a dealer look at it. Like every 16K or something. I see in the manual that several things should be lubricated, etc. Just wondering what I really need to do and what is fluff. Best Regards, Leonard
  15. Hi, What periodic service levels 4K, 8K, etc, must be done by the dealer? I'm at the 4K service and was thinking it is essentially an oil change and carb balance. Already did the carb balance 1K ago, so is there any reason to have the dealer do the service? Besides helping him feed his children? Best Regards, Leonard
  16. Here's an article on the pilot circuit mod. I did it on mine since I installed K&N filters and modified the air intake, then installed Khromewerks Slipons. http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/index.php?action=article&cat_id=002010&id=168 Cheers, Leonard
  17. Plugging the AIS is one solution. I found that adjusting the pilot screws out by 1/4 turn also solved most of the popping. Have you modified the air intake? Best regards, Leonard
  18. Not homemade, but it works. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?Category_ID=32&manufacturer_ID=6&product_ID=15939&model_ID=42 Have one on my Venture and love it. Not the cheapest, but does fold down and is adjustable. I doubt it will work on a one piece seat though. Cheers, Leonard
  19. Thanks for the email. Joyce and I are in Socal so we won't be attending. Cheers, Leonard
  20. Yes, the Stebel's are great. I installed one on my Venture and on my wife's V-Star 1100. No bike should be without one.
  21. Probably true. I ordered a clear with a vent. Leonard
  22. WHAT???? I've been waiting eight weeks for mine!!! Leonard
  23. Do you run two stebels or just one? Leonard
  24. Hi Juggler, Depending on the mileage on the pipes, you may need to just repack them. Based on other threads, at about 10K or so miles, you need to repack the bubs. Cheers, Leonard
