  1. Hey, Jim, you figure that out, let me know!!! I got the same problem. I thought maybe it was because I had gone to a Rick Maier custom seat - he uses the stock seat pan and puts better foam in it - also slightly wider for me. But, myself and the mechanics I have gone to have one heck of a time getting it in - most of the time I think we don't and it just sits on top of that slot opening.
  2. lOOKS GREAAT, lELAND. WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO PUT THE CB UNIT NOW?
  3. Hey, Craig - that almost looks like it's as bright as a headlight - pretty nice. What did you put in there?
  4. May God be with you during these times. Barbara and I are very sorry to hear of your loss - our thoughts and prayers are for you.
  5. HOLY TOLEDO - THAT IS AWESOME. Great job on the bike - wish I hadn't seen that :rotf:- might give me couple of ideas in couple of years. Whose kit did you use to trike it? Talent, tools and patience - way to go.
  6. Better hurry up - less than 5 months left till we hit the road, buddy.
  7. Too bad Steibel doesn't sell just the chrome diaphram for those of us who already have the horn with the black cover.
  8. Hey, bud - look forward to seeing your pics when you get all of that done. Good job getting all the parts/pieces.
  9. Thanks for posting that - another thing to do to the bike - for, aaah, safety reasons - that's right, and I'm sticking to that. I think it sure looks better - especially with the additional lights like I have from DiamondR.
  10. Jim, if you take a look at my gallery, I have the other set Diamond R offers - Allen is a great guy to work with - and enjoy either unit you go with.
  11. Hey, Jim, my belief is - if they are the units I am thinking of - that you need to get the rails from Yamaha - then mount those lights into the rails. Hope this helps.
  12. I would have to agree with Ruffrider on this one. Many here know I am not technically/mechanically inclined, but it sure sounds strange to me and something the dealer should be jumping on and resolving.
  13. Hey, Hig - and others, if you look on Rick Mayer's web site, click on V-Star, that is my bike with the DiamondR backrest- Rick labeled it wrong. I have to say that his seats are 200% better than stock, and the wife loves her seat. I did a ride in service so I didn't have to wait - seems like all these guys you have to wait a month before getting the seat back. I put about 6,000 miles on his seat, and though I like it, I am always thinking there is something better out there, . The only gripe I might have is that it is heck to put the seat back on - that lip under the pan just doesn't want to go into the slot where it is supposed to. I contacted Russell Day Long - someone in a Star club here locally has one and I want to sit on it first before going that route. I agree - it looks weird but people I have spoken with LOVE them. I have seen Diamond, but don't know anyone with one to sit on and try first, but I like their idea of being able to "customize" the fabrics.
  14. Hey, Bob - what seat did you end up buying?
  15. Bob, that looks like a factory Yamaha rack to me - it looks very similar - if not the same - as mine. Geresti - "took off the rack and turned the trunk upside down and put the rack on according to my marks and drilled holes thru certain bolt areas(6) and then went to lowes to get bolts to bolt it on. Fits good and tight and looks good, I didn't want to put anything in between to raise it up." - did you just attach trunk to rack - or did you put a spacer of some sort (much like the U pipe fitting that Harley provides with their rack) between the channels on the bottom of the trunk and the rack. My understanding was that the TourPak needed to seed into this (or some type of spacer) to keep the bottom from tweaking - etc.?
  16. The Flanders Bars fit - I have them on my bike.
  17. Are Hartco and Diamond the same??????
  18. George, I would imagine that it would be for the same reason those of us with the TD's don't / won't buy a new Venture Trunk - too much from YamaMama. They should take some clues from another manufacturer and make more of these types of options available - at a fairly affordable cost. And I guess there hasn't been that much interest:confused24: from TD owners to have Hoppe or others (other than the RadioCaddy) make them. I know I have been looking for one to add to my bike!!
  19. Bob, that's be my ? That speedo is beautiful to look at - BUT - it complicates adding options. That would be interesting if indeed they did ship one and that person was able to install it.
  20. Will their fairing fit a RSTD?? I didn't think they had one that would fit yet.
  21. Thanks for posting that, Steve. I am / was thinking of getting one, or sometype of GPS unit along with my CB / radio this year. There sure seems to be more to a GPS unit - ZUMO or otherwise - than I ever knew about - and a totally (at least it seems to me) foreign language. :confused24:
  22. Hey, Bill - do you have a Venture seat or the Saddleman Road Sofa (I think it's Saddleman) on your bike? Do you have a pic? Did you change out just the drivers seat or both seats??? I had always wanted to put the Venture style seat on the bike - seemed like it might sit lower and be more comfortable - but was always told that the frames were different so I couldn't. How did you attach yours - especially to get it on and off so fast? I can get mine off, but I can never get it back on without really fighting trying to get that front "tongue" in where it is supposed to go??:confused24:
  23. My belief is you cannot as the frame is slightly different. I tried to go that route - but was told I couldn't.
  24. Hey, that looks sharp, Buddy. Might have to try that.
