  1. Drifter, saw your thread earlier - too bad you weren't around over the weekend. A few of us are riding up that way (Eureka) on Friday - over to Susanville on Sat - into Reno Sunday. Missed ya by couple of days. Have a great trip - ride safe.
  2. I've been thinking about having my fins either chromed -- or powder coated to match the bike
  3. Clay, good luck. I would agree about not wearing a security uniform - wear something that is common - if a suit and tie is - wear that - if dressy casual is - wear that. And, be up front and honest - but most of all, be yourself. :080402gudl_prv:
  4. I was walking in the door to buy a Harley - went to the IMS show first to make sure I was making a right decision. As I was walking out, saw the Stratoliner - thought that was a cool looking bike. Went to Yamaha dealer - didn't shop around, and bought the Tour Deluxe. I ended up - sort of - making my rationlization this way - I didn't know any riders at the time, had stopped drinking etc and didn't want to get back into that crowd. Most of the Harley groups around here are tavern to tavern riders. I had seen STAR on the website - and so thought this might be good- get a different mfg - different group of people. The other thing that stopped me was the money as well - though as someone else said, what we (or at least myself) have into our bikes now, it would have been very easy to buy the Harley - but Harley's need chrome also. I ended up putting a Harley trunk on my bike - why - because Star doesn't make one - and a Venture trunk (was looking for new at the time - nothing was out on EBAY etc), was costing me $2,500.00 (without the stereo speakers). THAT's CRAZY (you had to buy part by part - including screw by screw/washer by washer etc). So, I think with THIS group, we might be jealous of all the accessories / options available for Harleys - and limited for our bikes. I would also tend to agree with the post about the attitude of SOME OF the Harley riders - but in the end, I still love my bike.
  5. Don, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
  6. Glad to hear they are relatively OK - bikes can be fixed. They are in our thoughts. to the both of them.
  7. BEEN THERE, HEARD THAT - :rotf: BUT, YOU ALL DON'T CHECK IN WHILE AT WORK????
  8. I think you might get an idea of what these look like from the picture of my bike. Hope this link works. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/vbpicgallery.php?do=big&p=1134
  9. Here, in my general area, there are a few dealers. The mechanics are OK, but not good or better in my opinion. Sometimes, I think that other than changing oil, they are not trained on these bigger bikes - as again the dealers in our area, sell more dirt bikes, etc. My personal belief is if you only see something once in a blue moon, you are not - nor have reason to - up on all the latest information pertaining to - say - our bikes. And, I think, that that is part of Yamaha's / Stars problem - poor service on a consistant basis. Then when we start asking them to add our favorite accessories, it seems like even with good instructions, most of the time they take the easy way out to install them - and not think things through. I just experienced this with my electrical problems, it took a friend of mine over 6 hours to clean up the mess my dealers had made of wiring up some of my accessories. My last dealing with the dealer I bought the bike from, I waited two weeks for them to change the tires (and I had an app't) - got upset - picked up my tires and bike and left - never been back. Goes back to my original comment - at least from my area - that the dealers are just not familiar with these bikes and only when it gets real slow, will they then look at them for whatever the service reason was.

    Good video

I liked the video - it didn't matter to me who made it - or what they wore. Believing, being free, sharing, all things we love to do in our own ways.
  11. Maybe a Harley backrest might fit on there as well? Could be a little cheaper.
  12. I would have to agree that the 20" might be too short - just measured my Baron's Nasty Boys slip on's:080402gudl_prv: - they are about 29".
  13. Hey, James - I think that looks great - and definitely would be one of a kind. Nice - and simple - with good flowing lines. Maybe tie the front fender in with the back? Either way, I like it.
  14. Hey, Mini - I might be up for this as well. I'll keep watching the info on this. For us, it may depend on the timing if there is another annual gathering ie Ft. Collins of this year.
  15. Could be all the chrome is shorting it out . . . .
  16. And then when you're done with yet another can of SeaFoam, do like Redneck says " Third thing would be to part it out and buy a second gen.
  17. WOW - THAT IS AWESOME. You are one talented man - congrats, Beer.
  18. What a wonderful, inspirational and giving lady, John. Sorry to hear your loss - you will always carry her memories close to your heart. Rest in Peace - and our prayers are sent to you and your family.
  19. Better watch out, Jack. First this accessory pouch, then I can see chrome starting on the bike - then, a second gen???????????????
  20. As stated above, I had one just fail on my 05, and the dealer - not the one I bought the bike from - replaced the light bar (and labor) at no charge. Those bars are known to have defects - and you shouldn't have to pay for it - bike paid off or not.
  21. Thanks for sharing, JT. Always pays to look couple of times. Glad it worked out for ya.
  22. I see Hoppe is now making a fairing for the 2005 up RSTD's. And from what I understand, they will clip right on and off - just like the current windshield does.
  23. I wonder if those would work over Flat Handle Bars - I installed the Hunter FlatBars - they are pretty comfortable - but still have gotten used to the flat versus round grips.
  24. Sherry, I met you for the first time Friday at the service - and you are an extremely strong lady - with your smile and devotion to Tom and God. I can't imagine what you are going through - however, I "read" you getting stronger every day here with these posts - keep sharing. My two cents - take your time - as it appears you are - and don't let "outsiders" - i.e. PI's, lawyers, insurance companies - prey on your feelings and/or emotions. There will be time to address issues - it doesn't need to be in the immediate moment. I think there is a saying somewhere - I am Woman - Hear me Roar - take care and blessings to you and your family in this time. Keep posting..
  25. Doesn't that Mustang seat move you more forward towards the tank? That seems to be what I hear - I think:confused24:
