My bike has 90K + miles on it, the current (stock) shocks (though they have been replaced once with stock shocks) don't hold air and haven't for quite some time, and I'm thinking of replacing them. Between the wife and I, we're about 400 lbs with the riding gear on, plus I've got the tour pak on my bike, and usual stuff in the saddlebags. I've seen various opinions (all great ones) on the site here, and the TD and Venture might take the same type of set up? Thinking of getting a new bike next year, so I don't want to pour a ton of money into this, but would like us to be comfortable again riding the bike, versus every single bump in the road. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Jack may get upset with me doing this - as often he is a very private person - but "we" all are family and I would ask if we could make a moment for he and his family. I received this e-mail from him this morning: Dear Friends, Last evening at aproximately 8 o'clock Nadine lost her battle with liver cancer and peacefully passed on to a better place. We were married for 45 years, and she was the love of my life. In passing she was surrounded by family and friends. Memorial service will be held on July 21st at Trinity Life Center, Sacramento Ca. More details to follow.. Jack Barbara and I send our love and prayers to you and your family, Jack. May Nadine rest in peace.

Those are awesome bikes - did take one for a test ride, and the wife has said that that is our next bike (after couple of bills are paid first - LOL). I like Darthandy's idea - put the Venture name plates on it -

Cool looking little trailer, Jack - good find!

Andy, I can second your thoughts. Though often it is about the ride(s), it is also about the people. In addition to this fun loving group of folks, I belong to couple of Associations I enjoy - STAR Touring and GWRRA - and similar ro you - I have my RSTD. To a degree, both Associations for me offer great choices and variety. Having said that, it does pay to "look around" - and feel comfortable (and safe) with any group one may want to participate with. Enjoy the ride - with whomever you ride with.
