Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house, There were bottles and butts left around by some louse. And the best fifth I'd hidden by the chimney with care Had been snatched by some bum who had found it right there. My pals: guys and gals had been poured into their beds To wake in the morning with hungover heads. My mouth, full of cotton, dropped down with a snap Because I was dying for one wee nightcap. When through the south window there came such a yell, I sprang to my feet to see what the hell... And what to my bloodshot eyes should I see But eight drunken reindeer caught in a tree. Way in 'mongst the branches was a man in a sleigh. I saw it was Santa, quite oiled and tres gay. Staggering nearer those eight reindeer came As he burped and hiccupped and called them by name: "On Whiskey, on Vodka, we ain't got all night! You too, Gin and Brandy, now all do it right. Clammer up to the roof; get the hell off this wall! Get going you rummies, we've still a long haul!" So up on the roof went the reindeer and sleigh, But a tree branch hit Santa before he could sway And then to my ears, like the roll of a barrel, Came a hell of a noise that was no Christmas carol. So I pulled in my head and cocked a sharp ear. Down the chimney he plunged, landing smack on his rear. He was dressed all in red, with white fur for a trim. And the way Santa swayed, he was tanked to the brim. The sack on his back held nothing but booze, And the breath that he blew nearly put me to snooze. He was both plump and chubby and tried to stand right. But he didn't fool me; he was high as a kite. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work And missed half the stockings, the plastered old jerk. And laying his thumb on the end of his nose, He fluttered his fingers as he quoted prose. He sprang for his sleigh at so hasty a pace He tripped on a shingle and slid on his face. But I heard him burp back as he passed out of sight: "Merry Christmas, you lushes, now really get tight."

a) that looked like fun; b) looks like a cool road to ride a motorcycle on; c) seemed to me like he almost took out the first motorcycle coming up the opposite way; d) wonder what others were thinking when they saw that coming at them - or passing them - that would have spooked the heck out of me; and e) I'm with Squid - wonder how many times that person has crashed trying that. Cool video, though.

Yup - kind of unheard of around here - but we did get a good dusting of it last night / this morning. Was wondering why the dogs were sleeping in the house for a change -

Congrats on the 28 years, Buddy - and those of you near and far to that accomplishment. I just celebrated 10 years last week. As far as cooking with it, I agree with Freebird - it is gone. However, when I can and have a choice, I will order a food item from a restaurant that hasn't been cooked in it - just a mental thing for me. I try and stay away from the NA beer (probably have had (3) in the last ten years) - as couple of times I was looking for that shot glass near by - heehee.

Beautiful 65 - 70 degree weather out here

What is the best battery everyone is running now? I think I have an Odyssy in mine - put it in last year - something might be draining it - - as this morning I had somewhat the same sympton - not starting. Put it on the tender for an hour - it started - had not ridden the bike for two weeks and it had gotten rather chilly here. With all my lights, etc., I am going to order that Buckeye stator - but was wondering if I shouldn't also buy a new battery?

I just received the one I ordered - that windchime is awesome. I didn't totally unwrap it - as it is a gift for a friend of mine - but now I am going to want one for me -heehee.

Interesting thread. For what it is worth, I am the President (starting my 3rd year) of our local STAR Chapter. But, I also ride with (3) other groups here in the Bay Area - as well as participate within our VentureRider family. For me, as others have said, it is all about the riding (and eating). With our local chapter, we put on at least (24) chapter rides during the year - plus (12) social get togethers, giving people many chances to ride, make friends locally and within our Region. Our chapter has (42) members - 1/2 have Star bikes, 1/2 have other mfgs. Personally, I often feel that the local chapter is what makes the organization - some chapters are more involved than others. Personally, I understand why some people choose to try a particular organization - at least for a while: just getting back on the bike and looking for a safe way to ride again, looking for new friends, getting the confidence to explore new areas, etc. Once those personal "goals" have been realized, many folks that I know have moved on - and to me there is nothing wrong with that. In the end, I think all the "mfg. related" organizations are good - and have their place. Some will have rules - or guidelines, which is fair I think. At the end of the day, as long as one had a safe day riding - having fun - and getting some food - regardless of if you were alone or with a group - it was a good day.

Hnadle bar Adjustment
Lone Eagle replied to starkruzen's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Mark, you got to remove the speedometer to get to the handle bar adjustments. There is one larger screw for the speedo (by the headlight) - then the two screws (whatever you call em) by the main bolt on the steering head. Remove those three - carefully place the speedometer on your gas tank (put a blanket down first so as not to scratch anything) - then you can get to the adjustments for the handlebars. You should be able to put a riser on without changing the cables - but be careful when fully turning the steering - it may bump into the tank. I probably didn't use the correct terminology, but hopefully you get the idea. -
Have a safe trip you two - will be thinking about y'all.

That's actually kind of cool - I like people who think outside the box sometimes.
