All righty then! Took out for the first time on the road on Sat. WOOHOO!!!! Think some flat spots in tires maybe, have 42 psi, in front. and rear. What do y'all run in the rear? May have to get balancing beads. Kinda sorta has a gear whine about 3000 rpm( if tach correct) under slight load. Is that normal? Also, gotta put the plastic and replace missing fastners in the fairing. That things shimying around. May have to make a few tabs. At least I got to ride her. WOO HOO Adusting that nut that connects the seats to the seat to the handlebar:happy34:

Thank you all for helping adjust the nut that holds the handlebars! #1 was so far out it took a lot to get it in and was holding the idle. Now they're in synch and she runs lots, lots smoother. and kicks it wow. Now to get the tag on and get that first cruise in. Then put the plastic back on so she be pretty. she needs a little cleaning and tlc. AND the fan came on!!!! woot woot. Now if I can find the temp gauge wire, it'll hopefully work. -

Do you mean the slides or the butterflies? Soaked the outside of the intake boot with starter fluid with no effect. hmm, will go get a hf compression checker tomorrow morn. Post what that is comes out to be. Thanks -

Its definitely firing, i can post numbers tomorrow. I found this issue trying to to sync with vacuum gae sync tool. :-) -
Ok, Update. Tried to sync the carbs and I can get #2 ,3&4 pretty close to each other and in the right spot. #1 don't want to hardly pull a vacuum just maybe an inch or two. while the other 3 are along about 9. I will get some starter fluid to see if it's the boot leaking. Any thoughts? She's too full of oil also. but she will get out of the way and was running better than she was. And the fan didn't kick on. All the cylinders were about 180. Any experience there?

Ok Doke, Got it mounted. but the faux tank still wont quite sit down all the way. and then I Dropped the damn screw. it went vanished. I can get the plug for the coils out and may have to ty wrap to keep it in, but i still havn't got the larger plug out so I can check it. At least it's topside. And then to add insult to injury, i took it for a spin around the rv park, and I didn't have the right side saddlebag cover latched all the way and it went for a skid. it was fairley unblemished before that. All scratched up now.

I am kinda having the same issues as this guy. ( all i could find in the search) http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?46600-Moving-the-TCI&highlight=moving+TCI I think the wiring harnesss is also a little short. It wont quite let the TCI sit flat and was thinking of putting a little velcro on it to hold it down to the air box? Am I missing something about the wires being long enough? Do I need to do something simple and obvious to get the the TCI lay down flat? ( wires twisted or something wanna keep the tension off the plug) (It works right now but i think in need to re-solder the connectors. I still haven't got the plug out. But at least it's up topside) Any tips or tricks or previous knowledge appreciated.

Yay! Took her for a spin around the RV park. First time riding her. Got the carbs on today, and put the battery in and fired her up. She runs on all four!. Finally got to ride her. even without plastic. Front springs seem a little stiff. gotta set idle mixtures and sync. Think the coolant leak may have just been the rad cam not on correctly, put some distilled water in reservoir to see how it holds up. got her up to third gear a couple times. Have the red warning light and shows light below it, maybe fancy or led light bulbs in it. and I dont think temp gauge is working. The more work I do on here, I think about changing her name because;...... she ain't exactly pretty, she ain't exactly small.....

My new '85.

No worries, I was confused, coming off nightshift. lol As long as you know what your talking about is the main thing. Was looking in the book, 2.8 mm is the min thickness. I cant say as to benefit of bead blasting the steel disk, maybe somebody will chime in. I would probably do it if had a sandblaster handy to break any glase that might had built up on them. -

FYI, the clutch and the starter clutch are two different things. And there is a guy on here that does a mod for you if you send him the starter clutch. Read up on the clutch plates and the disc mods. Congrats, thanks, and keep us posted. -
Nuther update Checked my plugs on the TCI with the ohmmeter. Coils are good and two pick-up coils are good and need to clean contacts on other two pickup coils. ( if I can find them?????) It was running and sparking so I imagine the contacts weren't clean enuff for my HF ohmmeter to get through. A cleaning might save some trouble later. Still trying to get TCI removed from the bike and the 8-prong plug is stuck. hmm. Have a great day:D

Update; So I got the #2 carb cover off with the stuck float valve off. The spring clip was not on the float tab so the float was not pulling it off and there was a rough spot on the edge of a couple of the ridges that would cause it to stick shut. Pretty clean, otherwise. Smoothed out the spots and got it to not stick. Put new float valve in and spring clip over tab. Valve free to move and don't leak when shut. woo hoo. Will put it back on and see what she does this weekend. Would like to second check float height. I cant see how you can adjust these with it running. Where's that pic with the float height adjustment? Gotta clean/lube the cables and the throttle too.

It appears that Dingy is not selling the Ignitech TCI Kits. I'm sure for a good reason and respect and appreciate your efforts on this Dingy. I am traveling and want to check out my TCI when I get back and I will have the 1N400* resistors in hand before I open it up. My question is, how do we go about getting one of these Ignitech TCI kits on our on. I may consider going ahead and ordering it so I don't have to wait if it takes too long. With travel/schedule, may be worth just plugging and playing. Also, is there something about the glass transistors that go bad and replacing them while I'm at it. I am hoping to compile this info into a thread for the tech library to save in one spot. ( I've been searching but not so much finding) Thanks again any help is appreciated.
