  1. Cuz is out for an extra few days of Holiday vacation , but will find out info. when he returns . So I contacted Garmin support today and this is what they said . The GXM 30 antenna is just not the coat hanger that receives the signal , but also the the receiver . The zumo only supports XM . The XM is not within the zumo . I think their add is misleading , I told them ! Sirius is not supported by Garmin and has no immediate plans to join up together at this time . I also got a hold of Kennedy . What my problem was is that I actually did not see , nor was it understandable to me within the instructions , was that the aux harness that comes out of the cellset needs to be connected to the aux input on the scoot . It does not connect through the 5 pin din receptacles as thought . The instructions led be to beleive it was just another input for other audible input such as in radar detectors , on which they have other devices/models for that . The tech and the staff at Kennedy were very pleasant to talk too . Though I played phone tag to talk to the tech , it was understandable ! After I explained everything on which I and how I hooked the Kennedy products up , it took just a split second for the tech to tell me what the error was . All I have to do is get another male to male 3.5mm stereo cable and connect the cellset aux to the aux input on the scoot . So I came home today and instead of removing the fairing again , I re installed the unit on the outside of the scoot through the driver 5 pin headset terminal . Made a temporary jumper (3.5mm male to male) , connect to cellset 3.5mm aux to aux input next to cassette , connected my audio out and mic in on the zumo and waa-laa ! I have cell , MP3 and nav prompts now , but the scoot's audio control has to be set on Aux . . So far with just a little messing around could not get cell while control set on radio , or turned off . It doesn't bother me much , as the Zumo will display an alert when an incoming call comes in and prompts me to either accept or ignore . I might try to mount a small ext. speaker via a splitter on the audio out of the Zumo for nav prompts or incoming call alerts when the scoot audio is set on radio or other . Overall , and even with the news of what I received today , I am still quite pleased with this unit . Kennedy also stated the Zumo is new and they have more experience with the 2820 . Also to say they haven't had the opportunity to work much with the Ventures . I told the tech that there were quite a few of forum members here interested in setting up their GPS , cells , and other devises , so they need to better educate themselves with the Venture . He commented they do great deal of work with the 1800 GW's and know more about technology therefore . He asked if any member was in their area , that would like to drop by and let them examine their scoot , it would be deeply appreciated and let them have the oppertunity to learn more about the Venture . I think if anyone does , they just might make it worth their time to let them take a look - see , but I cannot promise that myself . I'll post more as I learn more, and anyone can contact me if they wish to discuss this issue . Gene
  2. That's a Great price ! My cuz's employee discount plus tax was just under $600.00 . $$ just dropped into my pocket from nowhere , so I actually got mine for peanuts . Garmin closed today as well as Kennedy to call about alternative hookup to scoot and antenna . I will try tomorrow . Gene
  3. Any accessories with it ?
  4. OK Charlie , I see your argument . But there are more features to the Zumo than you realize . You can upload JPEG/JPG photos onto the SD card and dispaly them in the screen to share with your friends . Photos taken from other M & E's , scoots , Hot Babes , Or even your great freinds in Drag :rotf: . Yes , anything can become a distraction . But discipline should over rule everything . Therefore I am not placing your photo in Drag on my Zumo !!!!! :rotf::rotf: Gene
  5. While waiting for a reply , I have been serving the net . Might be a long shot , but here is what I have found on an alternative antenna . There is a GXM 30 extension cable with right angle mini usb end , http://www.gps4fun.com/gar_gxm30.php , part # 01-00617-02 for $18.89 . The is also an antenna , http://www.purexm.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=14&zenid=ik1euevdmpur4t4uqd9tsrbmt6 Audiovox CNP2000 XM Satellite Radio Connect-and-Play Digital Antenna Receiver for around $50.00 or maybe cheaper on E-Bay ( haven't checked yet ) . Just a long shot for those whom may want to investigate some more for themselves till i here word back from cuz . Gene
  6. I have just reread the owners manual and website and see no conversion to Sirius . Another question for cuz . These questions I will ask him may take a few days as he is an engineer over on the aviation side of Garmin . Gene
  7. If only you could mount your IMAC on your scoot :whistling:, huh Charlie ?
  8. Amount of songs depends on what size of SD card you use . As far as an antenna , OUCH ! I'll e-mail my cuz at Garmin to see if there is another alternative than the GMX 30 antenna . Another splitter should get audio . XM radio is not supported using bluetooth helmet headsets . Gene
  9. I have the Zumo , and I love it . I'm trying to get it hooked into the IC system right now and have a few problems with connecting the cellphone . Need to talk to Kennedy , but have to waite till they re-open after the holiday . I'm sure it's a simple fix and will post as soon as possible . For now , I'm using a 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm stereo patch cable into the IC's Aux to here all nav prompts and MP3 . Gene
  10. I just ordered me a set of Kuryakyn pegs from Cycle Giant . Should be here on the 29th . http://www.cyclegiant.com/pgroup_descrip/2753/1261/?return=%3ftpl%3Dindex%26category_id%3D2753%26%26%26page%3D8%26nothumbs%3D%26filter_1%3D%26filter_2%3D%26filter_3%3D%26filter_4%3D The ones I order are the Dually ISO-Pegs w/clamps for $89.95 . There pictures on a RSV . Mechanic has a set of the Pilot pegs on which they are thinner . Perhaps he can chime in to give you some input . Gene
  11. Those are nice , but what I have read about these , deletes the CB , radio , XM , Radar , MP3 through the MC IC . If only I wanted cellphone , these would be the choice . Rider to passenger , only if you et the Teamset from what I understand . Gene
  12. Well I went over to LEO friend and ran a test . Still a no go on the Ceelset hook ups . We ran a 2.5 mm mic directly into ZUMO , made a call and was able to speak . Audio on cell was piped into HS , but only when IC was set on Aux . My LEO friend has a HD , wired up with cell , CD , CB , Ipod , and radar detector with products through Kennedy . He doesn't have a GPS .......Yet ! I guess I will have to contact Kennedy after Christmas to find out what's wrong . Gene
  13. I have not problem with stereo sound , nor the mono , that's piped in with excellent qaulity from the Zumo directly into the MC Aux . I should have clarified a little more . Lets say where Kennedy claims where I am to connect Audio into the Cellset and Mic into the Cellset or into the Cellset aux port , they do not work at all . None of the connection points within the Cellset work . Only thing that works is the Harness , Intercom , FPD type 2 on which I refered to earlier as the 5 pin splitter , at which I seperated the 5 pin connection in the fairing to connect that too . It was the 5 pin cable that had the red taped band on it . I even tried placing this splitter on driver and on passenger connection while testing . I'm coming to the conclusion after sleeping on it that is either the Cellset either is defective , or there's more to the Zumo Device harness on which I did not get to power up the cellset (They supplied the schematics on there website) , or my buddy made up the 3.5 & 2.5 mm cables may be wrong , but I seriously do not beleive they are , as I tested them elsewhere and they work . Oh by the way , the Cellset part I have is the "Cellset , MC/GPS AUX/MIC" if youlook it upon their site http://www.cellset.com . It's probably something simple , on which I am overlooking , but I have gone over the entire bike and Cellset instructions . Today sometime , I'm going over to another freind whom has a radar detector with aux out . I'm going to hook up his radar detector to the cellset's extra aux in . If no alerts during test phrase at startup or when we run the scoot in front of his patrol car (he's LEO) , then something must be wrong with the cellset . I also have a 2.5 mm mic from my computer on which I will by pass the cellset directly to the mic in on the ZUMO , and if that works , again something must be wrong with the cellset . The Bluetooth within the ZUMO just connects the cellphone , Bluetooth headset or both and then patches it into a wired function to be relayed into the IC . . Gene
  14. "Can you hear me now ?" :rotf:
  15. Ever since I bought my 06 RSV , I have been wanting to be able to integrate my cell phone within the IC , only for the fact that if my wife needs to get a hold of me she can . All other phone calls will be ignored , unless it is an emergency . Now I have a ZUMO , which has Bluetooth , all I have to do is connect the ZUMO to the IC . I call Kennedy to ask what all I needed to hook everything together . I ordered all but one item which was the Zumo Device harness . All this cord is a harness made up of three sets of cables , the OEM power harness (which is already supplied with Zumo ) , a stereo 3.5 mm audio cable , and a 2.5 mm mono mic cable on which I thought was an outrageous price of $95.00 . I have a freind whom is an electronics serviceman whom made up the stereo 3.5 mm and 2.5 mm mono mic for me for $10.00 . I hooked everything up as per instructions told me to do and went over and over several time to make sure prior to setting current through the system . At first , I received the scoots radio though the headsets .Then I turned on the Zumo and set to AUX to hear the MP3 player on which was a No Go . The audio out was wired through the cellset and splitter to 5 pin as instructed . They also sent me another audio in for Radar detector or anything with audio alert , so I ran a 3.5 mm from Zumo to 3.5 mm to that connection , still a No Go . So that left me to hook up direct to the Aux input on the cassette . Then I heard the MP3 , GPS nav voice and cell phone (audio only ) , but no one could hear me on the phone when I made a test call through the mic in . Being the Kennedy cellset didn't do all that I was told it would do , I stripped it all off and started all over again . When hooked up the way the instructions say , double/triple checked , I should have the Aux input on cassette and the extra Audio alert connections left open . I should be able to communicate with the cellphone and GPS nav voice when ever . All other devices will be heard when in AUX such as XM , MP3 , Tour Guides , FM Traffic and such . I'm not ranting on Kennedy yet , as I just received the item Friday , hooked up last light and played with today .They are closed on weekends and will be closed due to Christmas at beginning of this week . I would like to know if anyone else has done this before I have to pull the fairing off again . Gene
  16. Carbon , To obtain a provisional , an attorney can get you started for around $1,000.00 . Cheaper if you do it yourself . But to put the shoe on the other foot , you need at least document what and when your idea came to life . If the other person decided he wants to patent it , it could backfire on you . But my advice is to find all documentation that you have and store in a safe place . If you come up with a new improvement , keep in under radar till you decide what to do . I knew a guy whom invented an item on which I thought was pretty silly . Not he doesn't work anymore because he doesn't have too . I don't think he silly anymore . Gene
  17. Good luck Carbon on the persuite of a patent . If you need any help , I be willing to help out in anyway I can . Just give me a call . Also look into the aspect of the adapter in use for other MC and ATV's . I also have a Yamaha Timberwolf and it barely fits on my lift . Gene
  18. Carbon_One , If I may be bold to ask , " How long have you had this invention on the market ?" . If it has not been over a year since you sold the first unit , you are still eligible to patent your invention . After a year , it becomes community property . If you choose to proceed in a patent , apply for a "Provisional Patent" first . This will be the least expensive for the first year . If the invention makes enough $$ to pay for itself , then you apply for the full "Patent" . If you apply first for the "Patent" , you can legally brand it "Patent Pending " and either place a stop and desist order , or possible make anyone whom violates your patent pay a royalty or damages . If it has been over a year and you have made new improvements , I would patent the most advanced model to prevent anyone else from infringing on your ideas . Just a thought to protect your investment . Gene
  19. I was at the hardware store and wife called me on the cell to pick up a 50# bag of birdseed . Already had junk in the rear passenger seat of my '06 ,soI bungeed the birdseed onto the rack .Only had 20 miles to go , and it rode perfectly fine . On the way back from the Alabama M & E , I had already a folding chair on the rack . Made a stop at a freind of mine whom I loaned my shotgun too . It was in a hardcase and I secured it across the rack as well and traveled over 150+ miles with no problem as well . Gene
  20. Anyone have any photos of the interior of the trunk bag ? Or are they just plain bare inside ? I'm considering on making some as well as some trunk liners . A while back before the crash , I was discussing with another member about making trunk bags for those whom do not have trunk racks ( that was before I got myself a rack ). Making the bottom of the bag out of neoprene . Neoprene being soft and not scratching the paint as well as it's gripping action along with quick disconnect buckles to secure the bag onto the trunk . Now that I have a trunk rack and the thoughts of making them , I will be ordering some 2.5-3mm (thickness) to use as a waterproof liner , covered with 1000 denier cordura . Only weakness will be around the zippers , but a velcroed covered flap should keep 95% of rainwater out . Also having mesh pockets on the exterior for quick placement of items that need to get to fast or to place trash within . Any info. would be helpful , as I have not yet had the opportunity to see one hands on . Gene
  21. rewindgy , you mentioned surge brakes . Are they a No No , or what ? I have surge brakes on my double axle boat trailer . Boat and trailer are a hair over 3,500 lbs and being pulled with my '04 F-150 4x4 . I feel very little push when braking soft or hard . How do scooter react to surge brakes compared to electric ? JJ , I wish you well to a healthy , speedy recovery ! Gene
  22. Carbon , I also made a slip over cover as well . I wonder if it true that my mom did really have twins and I was the one she kept . Are you my twin brother ? Squid , I have more aluminum to spare and would extend out my hand to help you out in making a couple more masts for Owl . I'll try to get them made as soon as I can . Before I commit into making them to sale , I have a freind whom has a CNC machine . Perhaps I can convince him to produce some mounts if their is enough interest in it . CNC machines are not cheap , but enough to be made may persuade him too . Making no promises , but I will check on it . Gene
  23. " BEER " ! Did you fabricate your own mount ( aluminum block ) ? I cut mine out of a large chunk of material with my bandsaw , sanded with a belt sander to remove cut marks , then replace the good sanding belt with a worn out fine grit to polish . That little block of aluminum got hot ! Found it better to cool down with an air hose , rather than cooling with water . I must say Carbon , we do fine work ! "Done so long , with so little , we can do anything with nothin' ". Gene
  24. Turn Back Time
  25. Just finished making "2" (TWO) Flag pole under $15.00 . Here's pictures of one of them mounted on my rear trunk rack . The mast are made of lavatory water supply (tubing) lines , the ones made of chrome plated brass . I used 3/8" all-thread inside the tubing to striffen the mast . As I inserted the all-thread into the tubing , I used Marine Grade sealer/silicone to secure any cavities as it was the ID and OD were not exact match . While spinning/screwing the all-thread into the tubing , I applied the silicone sealer onto the threads . At the tip of the tubing where it is formed as a natural flare is a plastic insert where the all-thread did make a good contact . The end of the all-thread is just short from passing all the way through , on which I placed a dab of silicone sealer to secure a chromed dog collar spike to complete the top of the mast . At the base of the tubing , I run a stainless steel safety nut (one with the plastic insert , forgot the correct name) reversed to give an acorn top look just under the tubing . The mount I made from aircraft aluminim . Measements are 3/4" x 2" x 1" . Drilled 1 hole to fit around the trunk rack and 2 more to secure it to the rack . 1 hole , I passed the mast into and tightend securely with an acorn nut . Second hole I used acorn nut up top and safety nut underneath . I would have used another acorn nut , but ran out of them . Also to mention , I used the over length all-thread as my second securing bolt . The flag , I purchased at Walmart just under $5.00 . It is the heavy duty , window type plastic mount , made of double layered fabric . I removed the flap from the plastic mast and inserted a section of pvc tubing into the tubular fabric on mount side of the flag . It was a tight fit , which made is better . I inserted the mast into the pvc tubing on the flag and followed it with up with a rubber grommet to keep the flap up top of mast . The rubbwer grommet is the type used to insulate wires through sheet metal which I purchased from hardware store as well . The way I made this will allow the flag to rotate freely around the mast . Overall , I have only spent nearly $20.00 for 1 flag and 2 flag pole mast and took me approx. 1 1/2 hours to make . Gene
