I rarely use my speedo on the scoot since I have my GPS now . So if I screw up and supposably get a ticket for a speed I did not do , I have evidence for court as the GPS is more correct . Gene

Well till the wife can handle longer MC trips ,we will have to trailer a bit so I am building a trailer rack for the BEERCART. I have her worked up to 3-4 rides now , but going to Vogal is a bit longer on her , so we will trailer to Sleeperhawk's and Mechanic's house and ride scoot from there on . Now my MC/Ult. trailer is not large enough for both scoot and the BEERCART . So I'm in the process of building a rack to set the BC (BC = BEERCART) onto . Here are some photos of what I have accomplished so far . I still have to finish cleaning it up , finish the loading ramps , place a boat bow roller , hand crank wrinch , some minor bracing and paint . Should take a couple of more afternoons . The scoot will ride directly behind the BC . I had it on the trailer last night for adjustments and have 3-4 inches of clearence between it and the BC . By the way , if was just myself the scoot would not be trailers . I'm only doing this for the love of my wife ! But there will be no cage at Vogal . Gene

Hip , We must be thinking alike ! At MB Bike Week , I came to the conclusion I am going to build a trike in the future project myself. From all the possible ideas , I am going to start searching the boneyards for a compact front wheel drive cage . Chop it down as the rear-end (motor/transmission/drive-line) and stick a springer front end on it . Being an automatic with reverse , wife will be able to control it herself . Might even keep the A/C Heat in tack . Make a fiberglass body with covertable top . Gene

I use my ole trusty Saddle Butter to repell water and to condition my boots and leathers . Even had my Marine freinds use it for their boots as they were in saltwater all the time in training . Kept them dry and limber if they used it correctly . Gene

They make FRS handheld with VOX with possible throat mics . A couple of my freinds carry a set or two among them on rides and pass them around to other riders that join the group whom do not have radios . These guys are mostly crotchrocketeers whom do not have any devices on their bikes . I prefer the CB , whether I ride solo for traffic reports on the super slab or with rides with the VR members . I would recommend the CB with PTT for community communications and economical handheld/VOX FRS for rider to rider for your Private conversations . Gene

If it's grease check the seals . I just received my torsion axles and hub assemblies . I started to mount the hub assembly and noticed that the seals in the hub had a gap between them and spindle , meaning the wrong seals . I ordered the entire parts from Northern Tool , telling them to make sure all components work with each other . Go figures , they screwed up ! But seals are cheap in price , so I will replace them rather than send the items back . Gene

Anyone use the HOPPY trailer wiring kit?
BEER30 replied to Monsta's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Who has the best price on these ? Gene -
I just wonder is you will get antenna whistleling in the front at certain speeds or if mounted in the saddle bag lids , witlh the constant opening and closing the lids break down the antenna cable after a periond of time . But who know , they may make a nice set of retractable curb feelers if you mount one on each front side . They will help save the floorboards/peg scrapes as an early detection device Gene

I know cold tires or not , turning a corner where there is a railroad track immediately in the turn on a damp air evening . Both tires on the track at the same time ain't no fun either . I slid sideways for a couple of feet before I knew what happened . Luckily my reactions from the dirt bike days kicked in . Gene

When my scoot was delivered to the dealer , it came with a metal framed base on which the scoot was attached like a centerstand for shipment . The front forks where within a metal bracket with an axle securing them (front wheel and fender removed to shorten up the crate) . Outboard boat motors are shipped very similiar in this manner . And I believe they are used in the assembly line process as well. Does anyone know what other scoots use the same RSV frame as well ? Some scoots are nearly the same other than engine size , color and cosmetics . Gene

There several alternative routes you go . If you paid with credit card , dispute it ! And get your money back . When you sent the items back , did you send them back insured ? USPS Priority Mail and UPS normally have a $100.00 insurance applied to shipment . Though I doubt very seriously the damaged was caused by shipping . I also doubt they will ship the package back in the same box you sent them . It was probably some moron using a box cutter and accidentally slashed the item while opening the box and doesn't want to admit it . Hypothetically speaking , the box can be lost or stolen on the way back to you . :whistling: Gene

What is it you need me to clarify . I know I can be quite confusing sometimes :rotf:

To add , when plotting a route with stops and vias , you can select multiple starts and stops directly on the Zumo itself without PC interface . You can make and store them in your favorite . And do it all on the Zumo . You would have to select that particular leg of the journey as you go . Gene
-
On the Zumo , you can enter your destination . You can also order extra POI to upload on the Zumo as well as narrated tours . Or you may use the MapSource software that has POI's on it .To provide a more detailed route with vias , POI's and extras , plot it on MapSource , save and upload with cables or SD card to Zumo . That route will appear in your favorites when you go look for them . You can also download the routes from the Zumo onto MapSource . If you took advantage of all the downloads from Garmin , you should have downloaded nRoute as well for laptop GPS . It's a version of MapSource that operates like Delorme's Street Atlas . For using my laptop as a GPS ,I prefer the Delorme . I'm going tocall my cuz to see if we can use other mapping software on the Zumo . I have already posted on how to hook up cell phone to RSV (post #37) in this thread . Kennedy Cellset is the way to go if you ask me . I will be calling Kennedy to give them a review as I had promised them I would . They have more experience with the GW and HD's . Not to much experience with RSV's , so I will give them my 2 cents . If anyone need any help, you may call me if you wish . Gene

I was reading on the net of a prog that will let you convert protected napster files . http://www.tech-recipes.com/windows_tips833.html . Gene

Drebbin , You will have to convert the wma's to MP3's if you are going to use Napster . There is freeware on the web that converts to MP3 but most wish to place a google search bar on your browser . If you have itune , it can be used to convert to MP3 . Gene

I installed a cigarette lighter socket directly to the battery (fused) , mounted behind/under drivers seat . Used doubled sided tape to adhere it to the rear fender . I can connect battery tender to it or used as auxiliary power . Gene
