Replacement Bolts for Yamaha Trunk Rack
BEER30 replied to V7Goose's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just applied some of the adhesive backed 2" loop velcro over the bolt heads . You know the fuzzy side ? But a smaller head on them bolts will help alot ! BEER30 -
I lived in Alaska 13 years ago and if you have full coverage , it did extended to rental cars . My mom was up there just a few months ago and she was covered by her insurance as well . Now how long has your insured been in AK ? If after a certain amount of days , they have to switch over to AKDL and ins. . Unless they are a student or military . Besides , let them get an AKDL and a PO Box . That way it will entitle them to the Permanent Fund Dividend check ! :cool10: By the way , there is a high rate of people not having insurance around and the state does keep a close eye on it's drivers . This state does take care of and does watch out for it's Alaskans . I love that State . Still kickin myself in the butt for leaving it . BEER30

Yes , that was popping at the end . Rode the "Wreaths across the America" and 2 Care Bear rides yesterday . The popping seamed to settle down a lot the more I rode . Muffinman and I will be doing a Carb-Tune and Color-Tune at the New Years M & E . I will more than likely do the AIS mod too . BEER30

This rubber plug stuff ....I had an 86 F-250 , over 150K+ on it , had dual EGR pumps on it . Why , Being it was an 3/4 ton and burn regular gas ? Well , must be one of them Kalicornie things . Anyways , it ran great in all aspects and with EPA standards in Alaska ,we had to do the emissions BS . Bottom line , I took B-B's , plugged the vacuum lines leading into the dual EGR pumps . Ran the Emissions test and results were that the 150K+ truck ran cleaner and with had more power than a new truck off the show room floor . Can we just run a plug within the line , still connecting the hose to the AIS . Hidden from the Yamaha mechanics to avoid the warranty question , being they see no mods ? BEER30

Lone Eagle , To say the least , just every one on the GPS's will come with some sort of software updates or something else . All GPS will need for you to set up for your preference as well . It's not all that hard to do if you take your time to learn and follow instructions . I'm not a computer Geek myself though I have 8 computers , but I found the ZUMO almost ready to go right out of the box .I just made a few preferences adjustments using the quick guide and Wa-Laa , I was navigating right off my recliner . Most GPS come with a map program , so you can set your course beforehand , then transfer the file to the GPS . I don't use that much unless I have a lot of vias (off the main trail POI's) . Remember , the ZUMO forum does have a lot of Computer Geeks (I say that with respect) that speak in Geek Tongue that confuses us ole farts sometimes . Bottom line is don't sweat it , just get the GPS that feels right with you . You have family here that can get you straightened out in questions you may have or get the answers for you . BEER30

Here's a short video of my scoot with the 4-2-4's . I wanted to get a better video , but had just a small amount of time to do it today as I was plagued with phone calls . I will try to shoot a better one here soon . Had some popping , but that will be cured later soon as well . Here's the video , http://www.meangene.us/video/424SB.wmv BEER30

Not really , as they will walk into the trunk first . On which that subject is another project going on right now . I'm having fabricated a trunk rail . Chromed double bars that wrap around the trunk , added additional flag pole mounts , relocating antennas and different armrest attachment . Connected to the scoot at 4 point , giving it a solid mount . This will give some more protection to the trunk from them darn blasted shopping carts . Sleeperhawk , actually the tips the way they are are more appealing for the gualkers in the parking lots and shows . BEER30

Here's a hint ! The All Mighty "Thumb" ! Has good use other than sitting on it ! :rotf: Back in the day , best freind and I hitched-hiked all the way from SA Texas to Main , then to Nevada and back home to Texas . That thumb got us around as well as hopping trains , 18 wheelers , and a car load of available females :whistling: . Never the less , it was an adventure for almost 3 months . Oh the memories .................... Oh back to the subject ..... Eck , we can do a Venture rider 2 up relay . You would look adorable on the back seat ! :rotf: Beer30

If it doesn't sit level , just re-fabricate the tongue to make the traile level . Odds are that you may want to lengthen the tongue anyways . BEER30

Why just not keep her ? Go ahead on another project regardless . One can never have too many toys.........I mean scoots ! BEER30

12 wheels....... as the diameter of the wheel is greater , it will roll over the road alot smoother with less bump and vibration . Easier on the wheel bearings too at higher speeds . You do speed , don't ya ? :rotf: BEER30

Received my Bells today as well . Thanks Don ! BEER30

Well , sticking out my bottom lip worked ! Installed the 4-2-4's on the scoot this evening and they sound Sweet !!!!!! Only rode for a few minutes , but enough time to run the scoot slow and fast to hear them . Even romped on them a few time as well . Tomorrow I will break out the video camera to tape some sound-bites and also to give ya a look on how I mounted my tips . Kit , while mounting my pipes , I had hardly any resistance putting them on , Only the right side did I use a small mallet and block of wood to get the last 1/2" forward . Other than a few burrs and the spacer/washers were to small for them to use , everything else was fine . BEER30

Robert Bell is the painter/artist . He charged me $150.00 to paint . I saw his portfolio on other peices he has done and they are spectacular ! There were some Eagles within his portfolio . Robert said he will try to get a website up soon , but he is still an active Marine here at Camp Lejuene so that job comes first . Becky should have her helmet back tonight as he has some finish work to do on it . Also he placed 9 clear coats on it , so it should shine , shine , shine ! BEER30
