thanks for the replies. answered alot. pictures helped my slow brain. totally forgot the no vehicles on mackinac, that rules out michigan. al

Been looking at riding over to one of those island/tourist destinations for a few days next year. Washington Island Wi or Mackinac Mi. Both require a ferry trip. Never had a bike on a boat. Anybody know how stable my baby will be [my bike, Renate can look after herself]. Anything i should know or do before i show up at the dock. Just curious, thanks. al

hey lowell, do you have a car endorsement on your motorcycle license?
-
lowell, ya know your making us northern boys look foolish for storing the bikes

another good one is to tell them all you have is out of STATE money, do they accept it. about half don,t.

glad no one was hurt but reminded me of a story. a long time ago a friend of mine was reshingling his barn [picture old traditional looking barn roof]. to do this he had rigged a rope over the barn to an old lineman harness and anchored by his pickup on the other side. he had his nephew [ picture not so bright but related and available] moving the pickup when he needed more or less elevation. about lunchtime he told his nephew that he was good for awhile and to run into town and grab some fastfood, wallets in the truck. nephew grabbed wallet [see it coming], but instead of driving his car decided to take uncles pickup. i think he said it was a 2 week hospital stay

i,m guessing your wife doesn,t know about ventureriders

glad to meet you. here,s my two cents. i,m 6,1 and weigh 205 lbs and i know if i laid it down i,d never get it up by myself. if someone can they,d be a scary dude. once you have it pointed straight it is the easiest thing to handle since baby puppies[had something else in mind but we won,t go there]. just remember you can,t manhandle it like a smaller bike, and watch your balance and footing when turning at slow speeds, to quote wildhair39 '' it can get real heavy, real quick '':clap2:welcome aboard

Glad nothing serious for you two. I was trying to keep up with the slopes and turns but gave up halfway thru the story. Those kinda turns at slow speed always make me nervous.

red, supposed to let you, and all those who offered thoughts and prayers last christmas, that Renate,s dad made an almost full recovery. So much so that her parents were able to have a belated 50th anniversery celebration this last weekend. We got her out there just in time for it. BIG SURPRISE. Lots of tears and hugs. Spending the week with her dad. Don,t worry Red. She,s back thursday night so we,ll see you guys on friday night for the fall color ride. She just wanted to let everyone know and i,m sure she will write when things slow down.

thanks for the input. i was planning on buying the materials but i think now i should just find a good paint man and tell him what i want and let him do his thing.

This winter i,m going to repaint my bike. Well, not me, but someone who knows what they,re doing. Anyway, i want it original color and that was easy enough to find. Looking at order form however i realized i have no clue how much paint it takes to paint a bike. Ihave a two tone 03 and with prices from $82 for a 1/2pint to 190 for a quart i figured i better get a rough idea how much of each i need. thanks guys[and gals] al

welcome aboard. i think you will find that the online part of this website is just the tip of the iceberg. by far the best is the get togethers where you can put faces to names and meet some of the characters behind the posts. that,s what makes this place, everyone is real [some more real than others] enjoy and maybe catch ya on the road.
