Cruise control doesn't set above 85 mph?
Larry1963 replied to Lug Nut's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
watch what you post on here some of kids my try this. I read this the other day so I was out and about yesterday and I tried it, yep it wont set over 85 MPH, but right under there it will set, and you can bump up, but I guess I never made it to 90 mph. I usually do not drive that fast. -

I was glad to see all was ok with that, I seen that posted on FB, I feel sorry for the dog, I love dogs and all animals. Now to add a little humor to this. When I was about 13 my dad had a BMW R75/5 he made it a dresser, bagger in todays terms. I use to love riding with him, not sure where I caught the bug to have a bagger bike. Ok back on track, we were riding home from somewhere my dad was 6' tall probably weighed 400 lbs, with a flattop haircut. He looked like a brick sh*t house with a head on it. I was probably 100 lbs. Well we are cursing about 35-40 MPH on a side street by our house. Well this elderly woman that lived in this nice house had tiny Chihuahua dogs. Well one of them got out of the fence and run right in front of the motorcycle my dad hit the breaks and stopped right on top of that dog, we slid about 20 feet with that dog under the front wheel of the motorcycle. Even though it felt like we were on ice, my dad managed to keep the bike upright. when we stopped there was that woman in her house coat screaming at my dad and when he got off hitting him. My dad was one that could explode at the littlest thing, he actually handled the situation well. After getting of the bike he pealed the dog off the road, and buried it for the woman and offered to pay for it. I know money does not heal but he went back a couple times to try to make it right, even though probably more her fault for letting the dog out of the back yard. The sick side of me still laughs every time I think of that story -

I always wanted a Wing. Then I moved to this little town in South GA, Alapaha GA and one of my church members has a wing and another bike, he does not like the Wing, it was a 09 with all the bells and whistles or farkles a wing could have. It even had XM radio, navigation and weather radar. He offered me the wing with nothing down, pay as I can for 9K the bike had about 22K miles on it. I loved the bells and whistles, but being 6'3" 280ish lbs the wing did not fit me well. When I road for a long distance and put my feet on the highway bars my left leg would get hot from the engine. Over all the Wing is a great bike, but I was glad without paying for it, it was not the bike for me. So he sold it. He was the one that did the research and found my 07 RSV, I had never heard of it. I really wanted a Victory Vision or a Indian Chief. I have a 01 Deluxe Cruiser that I love. I love the Victory engine, but Victory has stopped servicing the older bikes, an oil change is 70-80 dollars using the Victory oil change kit and doing it yourself. Much like HD the parts are very expensive, unlike HD or other bikes repair shops are far and few between. So because money is tight I decided not to go with a Victory for my next bike. Bottom line, we found my 07 RSV in the next town over and I got it for 6K and I love it. It fits me well, I love the way it feels and looks. My only down side to the RSV is they did not update the electronics to keep up with the times. I think this is a common complaint in here. I mean come on an 07 with a cassette player. I believe they stopped making the RSV in 2015 you would think upgrades to the sound system would be easy to come by but yamaha really never upgraded it. I also wish the RSV was fuel injected too. But those are minor complaints. I bought this bike almost a year ago with 13K on it, and it now has 23k and I haven't even been on a long trip.

Really stupid question
Larry1963 replied to kapebretoner's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Not a stupid question if you do not know. But it on the lower right side of the engine more toward the front. It is hard to see unless you are at eye level with hit. and the motorcycle has to be straight up to read it correctly -

I rode a bike for many years, never a biker or a serious rider, even though I have rode across the country when I was younger. At 36 I finally got married to a woman that had two kids, most of the toys slowly went away, including the motorcycle. after a 15 year break when my youngest started to drive I didn't want another car bought a 1980 Honda 400-T and the bike bug bit me again. That fueled me buying a 2001 Victory standard cruiser. While living in Valdosta I help start a motorcycle ministry there, and road everywhere. Well I moved to a little town out in the country where I pastor two small churches. All my biker friends were 40+ miles away, I found it hard to ride a lot and went to hardly any miles on my bike. Older VICs much like HDs cost a lot and little things where needed for my bike, so I just stopped riding and was ready to give it up. A friend in the church help me get my 07 RSV, and even though I do not ride as much as I would like and I think about selling it, when I do ride I love it and can't sell it. I come to realize with age, life, and all that goes on it is a gift each day that I can ride, even if it is just 20 miles. The day is coming soon when for some reason, usually health, you will not be able to ride. So the moral of the story is, if you love doing it, you will miss it, if it was just a hobby you may not, but if it is a passion you will be miserable this summer. So my suggestion, if money is ok but a smaller, probably older, cheaper bike, and ride it when you can even if it is only 500 miles for the summer. Remember tomorrow you may not be able to ride anymore. Larry

replace tripple tree?
Larry1963 replied to Wizard765's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
where are the pictures Ok I wont say worthless but I would like to see pictures -
Just throwing this out there, can you replace the CB? I hardly use mine, mine receives and transmit well, most riders today do not have CB but I do ride with a group from time to time and they have CBs. I normally ride somewhere in the middle toward the back, I am a slow poke, I just listen. It is nice to be able to know a turn is coming up or something in the road, or we are stopping for another pee break........
