Watch what you ask for you do know there are a lot of crazy people that can type.... When I bought an older Victory I found their site like this and it was well worth the money for all the free info I received. So when I was looking for a touring bike I went looking for a Yamaha site, and I found you guys. I did a lot of research here on known problems with a 07 Venture and there wasn't any. Since then I have become a member of the site and like the other post here I have enjoyed it and it has already paid for itself in knowledge and friendship. One thing we have to recognize is the younger people like things like FB, and so do I, it is easy to post to, ready on your smart phone whereever you go. My only thing with sites like this they are clumsy to go through and find information. Not sure what can be changed about that. there is so much free information out there. Most of us here remember the days before the internet, and personally there are days I could get rid of it, but how did we ever live without You Tube. With that said, there are a lot of people that do now want to pay for anything, and in our society today nobody wants to commit or be loyal to anything. I am also a ham (amateur) radio operator, a local repeater cost money to setup, rent a space, and to maintain. Yet nobody wanted to help support with monthly dues, but when we exhausted all the funds and shut it down, there was an outcry of people thinking we were the mean ones. It will be no different here. Bottom line here, people are just not as loyal as they use to be. My wife and I do a lot of community work, I pastor two small churches, we are involved and volunteer in the school system and our local community. To get people to help, commit to something is like pulling teeth, and do not say anything that could possibly offend them or you are the worse person in the neighborhood. I was joking yesterday with and posted what is wrong with our site, we have great bikes is the answer. Again I am new to the Yamaha Venture and have gone to look for bling and things I can do to it. But to be honest, what little is out there, I like my bike better the way it is. With Yamaha you do not see a lot of unique paint jobs, with HD, Victory it seems everyone is paying big money for accessories. So with little accessories/upgrades needed there isn't a lot to talk about. It is sad that Yamaha discounted this line of bike but there are others similar Yamaha bikes. Not that my opinion is worth anything but here are some suggestions. 1. Included more Yamaha in the group other models and styles. 2. not sure if you have this or not, but have a member only section, i.e. where we are not just giving everything away for free, and that includes the trial period. 3. Some crazy person in here came up with the Word Association game, great idea, lets keep things like that going. I encouraged people to send pics, and tell stories, and future rides. Back to the Victory site, many times I would check to find out someone was coming close to where I am, if this is the case and I had the time and money, I would contact and meet them somewhere for lunch, where I would buy them lunch. Met some really great people this way. 4. Start a picture of the month, everyone who wants to submits a picture of their bike. It can be in a unique location, or anything of interest and let the members vote on their favorite bike picture. If you do this for a year (12 months) you could print them take them to Staples and sell a Yamaha calendar. Even though commitment is hard to come by these days, most people still want to feel as if they belong to something bigger than them and that their input makes a difference. What are we doing to make the riding experience better, gathers (church language fellowship) and things like that. What missions do we support if you want to go there. But if we did Wounded Warrior, St. Jude's, I would stay away from religious ones but one that help the community as a whole. When you are a pastor of a small country church you become creative on finding ways to get people to connect and stay connected. I tried to join the FB page that goes along with this, but I was told because I was not a paid member of this site I could not join, I am ok with that, but then I went back and messaged the person who sent me the message and let them know I was now a full paid member, and I have not heard back from them. So for my part I am not a member of the FB side of this. Final thought, for now, (in preacher language we are coming in for a landing, may need to make three or four attempts). You that go to church know what I am talking about, the preacher say finally or in conclusion three or four times, all the time why the other churches let out and are filling up the restaurants. Ok back on track, for now, is there anyway to link FB with this site, where someone post on FB it can flow here automatically, I wouldn't go the other way, just thinking crazy ideas. High cross winds had to go around another attempt at landing this thing. Keep looking for upgrades to this format, ways to make the format easier to follow. I am not sure what is out there but I figured this was a canned format because I have seen it on several special interest sites. Something that makes it easier, something where there is an app included. Reason I do not get on often I do not use a computer that often I use my phone or tablet and sites like this are slow. Ok I see the runway I think we are going to make it wheels down................... YES landed

Lets go back in time,, how old were you when you got your very 1st bike?
Larry1963 replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
My dad had a motorcycle and he bought my older brothers one so I grew up riding them. I bought my first one in 1981, Suzuki GS650, when I joined the AF. Traded that one in for a Suzuki GS1000. Loved that bike. Been riding on and off my whole life -
What's the old death wish saying? oh yeah, "watch this!"
Larry1963 replied to Beau-Kat's topic in Watering Hole
Two things, video tape it so someone can get some money of American Funniest Video:Avatars_Gee_George: What is your wife going to with your motorcycle once you are gone? -

Also, what little fluid I can see, is dark in color

Has anyone tried the Biker Pro Camera Yet?
Larry1963 replied to SapperMedic's topic in Watering Hole
Looks good however is the longest you can video is 15 min. I like to record rides, especially when in a group, and looking for a good camera for that, but I think I would want one that records long than that, but I like the desing and other features -
My wife and I started a tradition a long time ago, she buys what she needs/wants and so do I, and then we give it to the other to wrap for Christmas. It has sure saved a lot of headache, we may buy each other something small, watch or something as a surprise but big stuff we get what we know we need. I just bought a new leather jacket and chaps, I just hope it doesn't turn to cold between now and Christmas or other wise I will have to open my gift early

One more deep thought, I was asked lately if money was not an object what would I do with it. I think I would buy an old house with about 8-10 bedrooms start a bread and breakfast here in the South for motorcycle riders, a place they could come and spend a week and a very cheap rate and ride in the winter. Instead of vacationing in HI or some other place, tow your bike here, or maybe have bikes someone can rent and let people ride who cannot normally ride in the winter.

I am almost 53, it has been a busy year here. Lost my mother, I had a health scare, turned out to be nothing, had a few friends younger than me and some a little older, than me, come up with terminally ill diseases or died. However they had a life altering event. Look at all the crap going on in the world around us, at any moment out lives could be turned upside down. Without getting to deep I come to realize that I normally only ride for work, or just short trips, I have always been to busy. Well a good friend of mine and me are planning a couple long trips next year, go and see and do things before we get to old to do it. I have always enjoyed listening to others stories and adventures, I believe it is a lost art in our country. My job takes me to nursing homes, what do you find in nursing homes? True heros, WWII Vets, or people that lived through the great depression, or other struggles of life, they have so much wisdom yet kids today (and same with me when I was younger) didn't want to take the time to listen. I have read a few books on people riding across this great country of ours, man I want to do that and write about it. I would rather die young doing what I love than old wishing I had done something with my life. Ok enough deep thinking for one night. We have great bikes, that run like champs lets put the rubber on the road and lets go.

In May I bought a 07 Venture, and from previous experience of owning a Victory I knew sites like this are well worth the money spent. So I joined. And I have received a lot of good information and met some great people, so you maybe asking what is the problem. well the problem isn't really with the site it is with the bikes we drive. They are so darn good and dependable, and like mine they come with everything you need, very little bling is needed. I have belonged to a HD form, even though I personally never owned a HD, and a Victory form, I own a 2001 cruiser deluxe. Well on those forms the bikes do not come with all the bling you can buy so someone is always selling something, also it seems that there is always a thread going about something breaking or how the dealer, or manufacture is hosing them over. Here we have bikes that are great, they look great, they ride great and pretty trouble free. What do we have to write about, that is why we have word games, and other such post. We have to make up stuff to post about. This is really a good thing. With all that said, I am very thankful for those who keep the site up, for the advice and other post. What I would like to see, and maybe it is here and I haven't found it yet, with the riding season winding down for your Northern folks , I like to read stories about peoples adventures, look at photos and video taken while on the road. Maybe a story of a trip you are planning next year. Some good ol fashion human interest stuff. That is all Again Merry Christmas to all and I do enjoy this site.

I ran across this post when I first got my Venture, I went out and checked my clutch and brake fluid, both good. I have put 5k miles on my 07 since I got it in May. It has around 25K on it. Well today had a meeting in a town about 20 miles away, great warm weather here, so why not take the baby. I love it when I get paid mileage and the miles are put on my bike. I pulled the bike out of her stable and noticed it had a hard time going into first gear, got around to the drive way, thought maybe I need to check the oil level, well it was good. Something about a wet sump I thought it may effect the shifting...... then I remembered this article, sure enough the clutch fluid is low, real low. But like everything else, no evidence of fluid leak. So where is the clutch slave cylinder at, where do you buy one, and how hard is it to install? thanks in advance for advice.

Front turn signal
Larry1963 replied to alwrmcusn's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Before you take it apart, go to your local auto parts store get a bottle of contact cleaner with a nozzle on it, stick it in there and spray, then while spraying move the switch back and forth. see if that helps -
That is something I would do. Thanks for the info so I know what not to do on my next birthday

Freedom Not sure I did that right and I can tell you all are from the North country

I was wrong it is 58 degrees still, living in the south sucks....

Just make left hand turns only if you live in the South do not worry about it, nobody uses blinkers anyway LOL -
Not in FL but in South GA. Riding season is upon us. I am near the Tifton area. I would hate to say this, off today, the day after Thanksgiving, about 40 something temp, waiting for it to warm up a bit before I go riding.......

I was reading this and thinking what vents my 07 does not have vents. Then I come to realize you are talking a first gen. With that said, my problem is, I get wind and water, when riding in the rain, coming up front the tank area. I put on a tall windshield that blocks the wind well, but I believe I created a low pressure in the tank area, when riding in the rain, I get water coming from behind me and coming up. Is there anything for redirecting the wind for these bikes

I know I am a little late getting back to this post. However I do like that look. But a couple of questions for you. 1. did you take the CB off. I see the antenna is still on the bike. I believe the CB is mounted on the bottom of bag. not that it is a really big deal for me just wondering. 2. Those antenna do not look like stock antennas. What are they for.

Anyone have a picture with them off. Just wondering how it looks

I have recently purchased an 07 and my first thought was the horns are weak, and they have seemed to get weaker. I thought it was just me and I was planning on upgrading to something louder and better. So I ask, where is that screw in the horn? I need to do that to mine too. Thanks for taking the time to post this. It seems that this is a minor problem with these great machines.
