Lately I have posted on here about my problems with bleeding the clutch, and read a bunch of great advice. However, I could not get my clutch bled on my 07 Venture. The problem according to me was that the angle which the clutch reservoir was at, most of the fluid was on the opposite side of the bowl. I even stood the bike up straight and still seemed to have problems, I even borrowed a power bleeder, again once I got everything sealed so no air was getting anywhere, I would pump up the power bleeder open the bleed valve, I couldn't shut it off in time before it was sucking air at the reservoir. And I suffer from I use to be a damn good aircraft mechanic, worse a hydraulic troop in the USAF, 18 years ago LOL. How I made it work, I took the clutch reservoir off the bike positioned it so it was level, filled it with fluid, pumped up the power bleeder opened the bleed valve and wham, all the air was out, shut everything off, took the top of the clutch reservoir again, put fluid in it, and did it one more time for good measure. Then with the clutch lever off the bike sitting up and level I filled it with fluid, but it all back together and works like new.... I know this is a temp fix I need a new slave cylinder, mine as a slow leak. Bottom line, got it fixed and even got to go for a short ride today, it was about 70 degree at 4 pm and long sleeve shirt was all that was needed.

I did not know there was such a forum, go ahead and move it.

It going to be a long cold winter, you can post more than one story. Go for it. I was thinking just with our motorcycles, but if you want to get over the years I could write a book on stupid I have done for these past 52 years

Watching the Voice heard a kid sing this song. This is the reason to get out and ride everyday you can, to say I love you to your family members every day. None of us know how much time we have, enjoy life.

Not sure if there is a post like this somewhere here, if there is sorry you can delete this post. But since it is winter months for many of our friends up North, maybe some of you can share stupid but funny things you have done over the years with the bike. My first one is, it was 28 degrees here in South GA, I just got my 01 Victory, I dressed warm, and was headed down the street. At the end of the street was a fire dept. and a stop light. I stopped at the light and my bike died, all the lights where on but the bike just died. Well I turned the key off and on, checked to make sure kickstand was up, all the things I could think of the bike just would not start, well the traffic light had gone from red to green back to red again. Well a couple of fire fighters come out to help push the bike and said I could park it in their parking lot. We pushed it around the corner and the whole time I am swearing under my breath about this bike. Well we get to the parking lot so I try one more time, NOTHING! Well by now a really young fireman showed up, and said "I do not know much about bikes but doesn't that switch need to be on?" With thicker gloves than I was use to I had accidently hit the kill switch and didn't know it. One of the older fire fighters said, you have a licenses for this thing, right? Another one chimes in, well there is job security...... I felt real small as I rode off on my shinny bike... Larry

I have a friend of mine in the church that is a few years older than me, we wants to ride coast to coast this year, starting in Jacksonville FL ending CA, traveling across I-10

Oh yes and she said "TURN OFF THE LAPEL MIKE WHEN YOU SING!"

Great singing. I am the pastor at the church in Alapaha, the music director has asked me to just lip sink.....

8 tracks where great except you would be enjoying a song and all of a sudden it would change tracks. Sounded like a HD down shifting.

WOW what a great wife you have, she didn't say it, at least to your face. I was at my brothers one Christmas, in MO, cold as snot out, I had my hands in my pockets and did not see the step into the garage, and went down and slammed on my side and face. I can still hear my wife laughing at me........ Lucky I didn't break or really hurt anything but my pride

Well here is the problem as I see it, if you would of been in your house with your wife reading your bible with her this would never of happened.

I still live in Georgia, and on the back roads, if you do not pull over you can get a pretty good ticket. I was only seen one procession on the freeway, and I was the lead pastor in it. I had a little Ford Escort, and followed the lead car with the hearse behind me, I had a hard time keeping up with everyone, we did 90+ with a police escort.

Now that is showing your age!

storing for the winter

I never store I ride all year. -
When we look at the world, I am assuming most of us are blessed beyond what we deserve. I have things I want, like an LED headlight, I did not know I wanted it until this post..... However with that said, I have a good family, pretty good health, a job, wife job, kids in college. I need nothing and really want nothing for Christmas. What I want is that everyone to ride safe this year.

I seen a couple comments on here on what to do with an outdated cassette tape deck. First question I have, does anyone still use theirs. I have not seen a cassette tape in years. Second, you have to ask yourself, since the decline of cassette tapes started in the late 90s and about all washed out by 2001, why did Yamaha still include this with their bike. Why not upgrade to something that everyone can use. My 07 comes with the 6 disk changer, I happen to own Cds but do not listen to them often, I stuck some good Kansas, Eagles, Boston, disk in there and sometimes switch to them. But even CDs are on the decline, with Pandora, and XM radio. If possible I would get rid of the CD changer and put in a XM radio. Not sure if anyone has things like that. You would think someone would market a system that could take the place of all this, and upgrade. On the fun side, I am looking for a good cassette tape to see if mine works. Larry

Somebody needs to come up with a way to get rid of the cassette deck and put in a XM radio. I had a Goldwing, it had XM radio and navigation, When the XM radio was paid up, you got weather radar and it would work with the navigation system and you could know where the storms are.

This post is at the right time, my 07 venture is sitting up because I ran the clutch reservoir empty and now cannot get it bled out. I borrowed from a friend a "power bleeder" where you pump it up and open the bleeder valve. My problem is I cannot get it to seal right. The other problem is, this is a very busy time of year and I have not had time to really sit down and do the job correctly. It is harder than I thought. Let me bring up a problem I have noticed with the bike, or at least my bike, when the top of the reservoir is off and it is full there is a little room for fluid, the handle bars sit at such an angel that the fluid rest away from the holes. I thought about taking it off the handle bars and holding it up more level. I have the bike set up perfectly level when I do this to allow more fluid to be covering the holes. Whey they didn't put the holes at the far side of the reservoir, where with the handle bars pointed down more fluid would cover the holes. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some time in the afternoon to tackle this job, if not off to the mechanic it has to go. I miss riding my bike. Larry

Apple vinegar or pickle juice, my Dr told me about the pickle juice.

To make sure you know I was not complaining, just mentioning it. I know everyone involved here is doing this for free and on the side. Everyone has a job, family, bills, so things get done when they can. Plus I am not that technologically advanced, so a lot of times it is because of me not the other person we will get it to work soon enough

I will post later, we have 8 of them setup in the house.

I feel like I am writing Dear Abby letter, so here it goes, Dear people that are smarter than me, I noticed the other day that the love of my life, (bike) wasn't shifting well, I remember a post on here that talked about vanishing fluid, well mine vanished. So I took the lid off the master cylinder and added fluid, and then went to youtube and checked out how to bleed it, and I did everything I think right, but I am in a worse condition than I was before. By the time I checked it originally , I had run the reservoir dry..... I went back and changed took all the fluid out of the master cylinder, clear fluid, and again tried to bleed it. When I am bleeding it, and I pull in on the clutch lever I can get some clear fluid out of it, the fluid is pushing through, slowly and what seems to be not enough compared to what should be there. just a little bit comes out and not with much force. I have discovered a design flaw with this bike, who was the idiot that put a reservoir with fluid on a slant, even when you level the bike and the reservoir is full, it still barely covers the holes. Why not have it so when the bike is up and level the reservoir is level. And I learned if you have the bike level and fill the reservoir and not put the top back on it and put it on its kickstand, fluid goes everywhere....... Some how I think that in the master cylinder or in the line up top, there is air trapped in there. When all together everything tighten there is no resistance at all on the clutch lever, and it makes a gurgling noise. Also when all together there is no fluid leaking from anywhere. I am using DOT 4 fluid like it says too. What am I missing or doing wrong? I just bought a new leather jacket, that I will wrap up for my wife to give me at Christmas, but until now I want to be riding the bike...... Again help, and I am getting psyche problems from ridding withdraw. From Frustrated PS. anyone have pictures of how to change the slave cylinder and where can I buy one, roughly how much are they.
