I have a friend here that wants to take a motorcycle trip Prudhoe Bay, AK. First that is one big trip, second, he has one of those BMW bike made for this. He wants me to go with. So I was looking at this and reading stories. I ran across a guy that took at Victory Vision up there. So here is my question has anyone went from the lower 48 to AK on motorcycle recently. Back in the 80s and 90s I drove it a couple times in a truck and the Yukon was some pretty rough travel. just looking for input here

Just to add a side note to this story. I grew up in Kansas City MO. Spent 8 years stationed in Anchorage AK, 4 years in Mt. Home, ID. I have shoveled my share of snow. I love the snow, and always wanted to move back to a place with four seasons. Somewhere in my AF career, I met a woman in Jacksonville, FL and married her. We were stationed at Moody AFB (Valdosta) GA. I said when I retire I am moving back to MO to be close to family and four seasons. Well my kids in school, then one thing after another, I kind of grew roots here in the South, but I kept saying one day, I am moving back. Then my daughter got a full ride scholarship at Ft. Scott, KS. I thought this maybe the sign to get me back, and plus she was only 60 miles from my family. Well three years ago over Thanksgiving we went back to my home town, I was going to look for work, and show my wife how great the mid USA could be. My daughter had a game in the middle of Iowa. So we drove 1000 from warm South GA, to Lee's Summit MO, dropped a dog and the youngest daughter off at my brothers house and took off to Iowa. Well it is 28, it had been snowing and there is light snow coming down, the light is rapidly fading and we are traveling across wide open farm land. My wife says "lets gas up now so we wont have to on our way home." I get out of the car, the wind is a steady 10+ miles an hour. I am dressed in boats, long-johns on legs and upper body, t-shirt, flannel shirt, coat, gloves and hat. Ten gallons couldn't go in that fuel efficient car fast enough, in that short time outside, I froze my ass off. When done I hopped into the car and told my wife to take my happy frozen ass home, she said back to your brothers house, I said hell no, back to South GA where it happens to be 75 degrees when this is happening. I say all this for this reason, keep your white stuff up there, I will not be up to help shovel, I will be down here in the south, riding year around. I only have one request, shut the door! and keep the cold air up there too. It has gotten cool down here . It went from 80s to 40s in one day. By the way, I am still looking for a big house to turn into a motorcycle bread and breakfast, (of course I am looking for the money for this first) so my Northern motorcycle brothers and sisters can come down and get a break from the cold and do some riding in the winter months.

Can you post a picture of your ram mounts. I am wanting to mount an action cam somewhere, but where I can turn it off and on. I seen a cam that had a remote push button for turning on to record.

Just wondering if anyone has big rides planned. I have a friend in my church, that I ride with it, he wants to do a coast to coast trip, four corners of the US, or a trip to AK. We have been riding and meeting on Saturdays looking at maps. Well I hope everyone has a safe, and blessed 2016

Last year in January we had a tornado during Sunday morning worship, one of the rare times I had my phone on during service. I hear it buzzing and some 800 number is calling me. To find out my smart phone was trying to warn me that a tornado was coming. It knocked out power out for a while, but it took the steeple off the Baptist church. Some say the Baptist preacher preached the roof off the church, I, being a United Methodist, the LORD was just trying to wake up those heathen Baptist

I was waiting for the part of the story, and glad it did not happen, where the cabinets fell on the motorcycle knocking it over and other damage. Remember all that is just stuff. If you haven't used it in years, maybe time to get rid of it.

Thanks for the info. I am looking for a good action cam, that doesn't break the bank to take with. I bought a Cool icam s3000 from WalMart not to long ago. It was cheap but it worked well with a handlebar mount. However I put on a bagger shield and the lower half is dark so it doesn't work with a crap now. I do not want a bulky helmet cam, I want something that blends in.

Knowing it is not life threatening, my daughter laughs all the time when she sees me smile. Her and I were at the gym the other night and I was doing some free weights and she was on a treadmill she looked back at me and the face I was making and almost fell off the treadmill. I am not do worried about looks anymore, at my age, size........ Just one more thing that makes me unique. Just do not tell me I cannot ride my motorcycle. My eye will blink some now and doesn't drain all the time, which means I can see better, but man my mouth is messed up. Worst part about this, to me, I cannot open my mouth to eat anything big, I had to cut up a hamburger and a slice of pizza the other day. Now for weight loss this maybe the thing I needed...... Thanks for you thoughts and prayers

I gave up on gas chainsaws a few years ago. I to got tired of pulling and no go, I use a chain saw once every couple of years so the electric one works fine with me
