  1. @BlueSky I have not prepared for retirement like I should have. I am lucky that I do have a military retirement coming in and I work for the UM church and they have a good retirement program. So I maybe ok. And we do have responsibilities and we need to be prepared for tomorrow and when we get older. However I know several people that has saved for the day of retirement and died either just before or just after. Like I said life is a balance, to me don't make your life and your family life miserable today by saving every penny just to loose it later or never see the day to use it. Live, enjoy your family and friends today, and save some so you can enjoy them tomorrow too
  2. some of those meds do not like you being in the sun either. you have to watch that too.
  3. The other problem here, someone made it against the law to ride naked..... much cooler naked LOL
  4. I know I have posted on here before, life is short, and even though you may live longer but we have to realize the days we are strong enough to hold up a bike and ride are even shorter. I am the pastor of a small church in the country, I see life cut short way to often, not that someone has died but something happened that changed their life forever. It maybe as simple as a parent that cannot take care of themselves and goes to live with a son or daughter, now the child is looses some of their freedom because of added responsibility. Many things could happen each day to us that will change our life forever. So here is my motto and what I tell my church folks, if you have the money and time and want to go somewhere, go. Do not get to the place one day where you are sitting in your house or bed with regrets. If one of those smart finance people came to my house, they would say sell everything, work more hours, pay your bills off, so you can have something for later years in life. What if later never comes, what if later comes for me but not my friends or family, what memories will I have. Life is a balancing act, yes we need to save for the future, yes do not get into to much debt, but life is short and meant to be lived. I would rather go into the ground looking older and sooner than my time loving life, loving others, and enjoying life than, to be put in the ground at 100, looking good and fresh and having someone say hey doesn't he look so good. I want people to remember me as WOW he cared, he loved, he laughed, he made an impact on my life. So today I wont check mail to see what bills come in, I will just ride, let the wife worry about bills tomorrow LOL
  5. 1. I hate shopping on line, I am not computer or security savvy. Some idiot made a program that checks passwords and if you have a password of 12345678 on most bank accounts they kick you off..... Also just wondering what are they doing with the physical security keys that you had. Since they removed them, might be a good wall hanger........
  6. I like this post, what made this sight worth money to me. Last year when I got my bike and got on this forum, some guy called me, cannot remember his name now, and I went out to my bike and he talked me through, where the 12 adapter is, how to make cruise control work better, the setting and resume at the same time. I already knew about the folding antenna, I had a Goldwing before this. someone that is smarter, more organized than me, could put together a book, with pictures, for dummies like me, and post it.
  7. Not sure if this is a secret or not, but they are awesome
  8. @cowpuc When someone mentioned BBQ I was thinking we need to get an area, set up a small tent, a couple of picnic tables and cook and sell hotdogs, also put in a bike parking lot, give a discount to those that are members here. It would be a lot of fun meeting all those people. A couple of churches ago, I had a guy that bought produce for Whole Foods, well perfectly good food would get thrown away because it didn't look right. We took the food to a local flea Market, Exit 5 off I-75 in Lake Park, GA, my daughters would sell and take the money, I would talk to all the interesting people, and we would usually make about 1500.00 a day in profits. It amazed me selling tomatoes for .25 cents and making that much money, we sold other things too. I like meeting interesting folks, probably why I ride a motorcycle
  9. I did not run into this problem with my Yamaha yet, however I had a Victory V92C it started at high throttle setting it would cut out, then later on ran like crap. The fuel line had gone bad and was clasping under pressure. Really under suction, the first mistake I made I went to NAPA and bought some fuel line that was close to the size, but I didn't realize that it was not rated for the amount of suction that my bike fuel pump had. Victory recommended I go to a marine boat dealer and get fuel line there. I did and it worked great.
  10. My daughter and a lot of my money is going to SCAD (Savannah College Art & Design) in Savannah GA. It has been eye opening going there and seeing what goes on in the entertainment world. I am always thinking with sound a guy when head phones on, on a sound board half asleep. Much like they do in church..... But the amount of information they need to know. SCAD was big in the last filming of Star Wars, we got to go and see a premiere and they had a lot of the technical people, that are SCAD alumni talk to the students and dumb parents. SCAD films a lot of the Coke commercials for Coke Cola in Atlanta, they did a filming in a green room down in Savannah and it was cool. your son picked a good career field, not only is it exciting, travel should be good and meet some interesting people. Plus, even if the economy takes another crap, this is a field that will still go on. I keep informing my daughter that her main goal in life is to graduate, get a nice house with a little house and garage outback for her father to live in and she can support the motorcycle hobby
  11. I have a friend his wife is an account and she does most of her work online and has an office at her house. The travel all over the US, she take her phone and computer with and if they call and she needs to be on line, they stop and she hooks up, she has a hot-spot. Technology is great sometimes
  12. Number 5 is the most true out of all of those
  13. I am in South GA, 98-100+ close to 100 percent humidity. not a lot of fun to ride in This morning it was 78 deg and 97 percent humidity my saving grace is when all the folks up North are winterizing their bike it is perfect riding weather here
  14. On Moody AFB it was 183.99 down town in Valdosta and Tifton GA between 1.90 to 2.00 a gallon. I am blessed that we have farmers and a lot of gas stations have non ethanol gas it is about 2.45 for 90 octane. The bike runs good on this gas
  15. Go to google, type in ham radio operators in your area, find one close to you, he/she should have all the meters, cables and tools to adjust it. or take to a CB shop

  17. Back from my trip..... I put a volt meter on the batter, now it has sat for 4 days without being started. I hooked up the voltmeter and it was right at 12 volts. when I turned the key on, it went to 11.5, but started ok. The volts quickly went up to 13.2 a little higher if I gave it some gas. I turned off and stayed at 12.5 for a bit, then when I turned it on, but not starting it, it went back to 11.5. Left meter on for about half hour, volts backup to 12.2 turn on key to accessories no change, with radio going for a couple min then starting to go down, then turn key all the way on, headlights and all the good stuff, drops to 11.5 I guess I will take out and take to batter shop and let them test it. My 01 Victory if very funning with the battery. If you have a poor connection or battery getting weak, it is a pain to start, and keep running
  18. This is what happens if you give them a head start
  19. I have a couple in our church that does it every year, they enjoy it. sometimes they setup there, they buy collect and sell old signs and gas pumps.
  20. @cowpuc brings up good point on his post in here. When riding and getting caught in the rain, do you stop and put on rain year, which by then you are already wet. But the real question, do you speed up to hurry out of the rain, or slow down so it doesn't hurt so much. If I knew how to do a poll I would
  21. If there are babies I would worry they will die without mom, and smell up everything. Now if I was a liberal I would say that squirrel has a right to live off you But I am not, and currently we are lucky to live in a place where blasting him with a shotgun or rat shot would be legal and fun We have pecan trees down here, one of the farmers pays me to go and shoot squirrels, plus give me the 12 shotgun shells. That is just as good, my job pays for mileage, I get paid to ride my motorcycle. Does life get better. Life could get better if I but a dirt bike, with a shotgun holder on it that would hold a good semiauto 12 gage and I could ride up and down the trees shooting, or falling off killing myself LOL
  22. I have an 07 that developed a starting issue. I think it is the batter I just haven't had time to check. I figure I will throw this on here and you smart guys can tell me what to check. About a month ago, when starting the bike, when you pushed in the starter button nothing would happen, you would see the lights dim a little bit, some times you could hear the starter click, push the starter button a few times and wham bike starts. However if it doesn't fire right over it doesn't want to start, the engine may turn over but wont fire off. Well the last couple weeks it has gotten worse. What is funny after riding it, if you turn off the bike and try to start it backup a couple minutes later, it wont start, let it sit for 10+ minutes it will usually start. Saturday rode about 70 miles, stopped for breakfast, bike sat for about 45 min, and hard time starting. rough time getting the starter to engage, then when it did just turned over and sputtered, finally started. Rode 70 miles back, stopped for gas by a station near my home, I didn't think it would start. Got it home wont start, at least I got it home. Sometimes I can get it to turn over but doesn't seem like it is getting enough juice send a spark. I haven't had time to troubleshoot yet. I will see if I can get it started and check the voltage at the batter while running. if this was a car, I would say the batter is bad. Batter condition is unknown. I have had the bike a year, put about 10k miles on it and this is the first major issue The only thing that sucks is I have a meeting this week in Saint Simon Island, I was planning on riding over, guess I will take the car
