  1. I have a Mauser with that stock and nearly the same break. I caught it before it was a complete break and added some reinforcement to that area. The one I have was severely cracked in that area and would not have taken many more shots to finish it off. The one I got was broken just from normal deer hunting and range use. If UPS lets you keep that one, I would just put it back together if I were in your shoes.
  2. I did try the battery additive once when I was really poor and my battery died. It did get me another month before the battery was again no longer able to take a charge. Bottom line I would call that a failure. This was on my only vehicle so it was my daily driver. As for the high voltage "de-sulfating" My truck does that during normal operation, when I first start the truck it charges at 16 - 17 volts for a short while which is supposed to de-sulfate the battery. It then supposedly monitors the battery charge and will drop the voltage down to 12.6 as the battery reaches full charge so that it is only a maintenance charge so as to not over charge the battery. My thoughts, It is a gimic that don't work, the OEM battery was dead in just 37 months and 37K miles. Just out of warranty. My replacement battery is getting weak now at just 3 years old. So I would conclude that all that stuff don't really work and may even hurt a good battery. It is also my opinion that once the OEM bulbs burn out people seem to be doing a LOT of bulb replacement that I believe is due to that 16-17 volt charge rate after every start stressing the bulbs.
  3. All the info in that book is readily available for free online with just a bit of searching.
  4. I had to spend a week in Texas, in March, on a business trip, I nearly died from the heat. I can not understand why anyone would live down south. I find no logical reason to put up with life threatening weather for half of the year. I'll take a good old blizzard any day. I guess it all comes down to what one likes. If the whole world had the same climate it would be awfully boring and miserable. Good thing we have choices so we can pick what we like.
  5. My machine does not work at all without your cold air. So yes you can stop the snow by simply stopping my supply of cold air. Good luck on your drive down.
  6. I am blaming all this mess on @Yammer Dan He seems to have admitted that he sneaked up here and messed with things, just ask @cowpuc what he did. I am sneaky, I am using paper plates for dinner, that way I can get more food without breaking my weight lifting restrictions.
  7. Been there done that. I have a pair of scissors that made that issue go away on all of my shoes.
  8. Because even this kind of cold is still better than 100°. I can dress for the cold and still go out and play. When it gets to 90° and higher, I can only take off so much clothes before I get arrested, and it is still to hot for survival. There are a lot more people die from the heat than the cold.
  9. Some testing to further isolate the blockage. 1) Crack the Banjo at the master to see if brake lets go. 2) Crack the Banjo at the caliper to see if brake lets go. 3) Crack the bleeder at the caliper to see if brake lets go.
  10. BBBBUUUURRRRrrrrrrrrr I have never experienced more than -40 and that was only in an environmental chamber at work so I just had to walk out the door and into the next chamber that was maintained at 145F and 98% humidity to get warm again. The coldest the weather has ever been here is -26 and WC of -35 Hope you have a good heater in your ice shack. It looked like you also got a bit of new snow from this last little cloud that went by. There are a lot of the diehards out on the ice already around here. There are also some falling thru and needing rescue.
  11. A man is never wrong, just ask my honey, she will splain it on ya. Wrong, never, in trouble, always. There is a difference...............
  12. Yes I am still on the mend. My machines are out there just spinning out of control. It will be quite a while yet before i can lift much more than a dinner plate. Just went to doc for post op checkup, he said it was looking good but will take quite a while to get back to "normal?". I will be attempting to go into work tomorrow but I doubt if I will last more than a couple of hours before I have to head back home. They are happy with any time they can get out of me. I think I will be part time at least all of this week. There is only about 14 inches on the ground around here. The younguns will be over soon to do the shoveling while I sit in the window and watch.
  13. Trouble is my middle name. I been causing trouble since the day I was hatched, Literally. I hit that cold air on my birth day and immediately squirted the doc in the eye, Slap my butt will he................
  14. Now grab your honey and get back to plan A...............
  15. :moon::moon::moon: :moon::moon: :moon: :moon:
  16. Well we have determined that it is @saddlebum way up nort der that like to leave his back door open and let these polar blasts come flying out of Canada. You just have to convince him to close that door.
  17. An easy test to see if you should be up or down one gear. Hold the throttle steady, slide your hand up so that you are also gripping the housing in front of the throttle so that you do not unconsciously move it. Now shift up or down 1 gear. Whichever gear ends up with the higher speed for that throttle setting is the gear you should be in for that combination of speed, loaded weight, wind, grade, road surface etc. If you are in to high of a gear you will actually have the throttle more open than if you were in a lower gear with higher RPM but a more closed throttle, thus better MPG. It is counter intuitive, but thee higher rpm in a lower gear the engine may be working less hard to maintain speed.
  18. Nope, I don't do ice, you will have to figure out someone else to blame for that. I like snow.
  19. I know just how ol Cowpuc is feeling. We are expecting another 8-12 inches PLUS some possible lake effect mixed in, today and tomorrow. Those that live near the great lakes know what that can mean. I still like SNOW................. I get to sit in the window and watch someone else shovel it while sipping on my hot coco and eating RUM Balls.
  20. The sync is the last thing you do when messing with things. However if the sync is way off then you may need to sync before and after doing mods. Once you have the tools, The sync is a fast easy process. I often stay in second if cruising at 25. If I am cruising at 25 it means I am in city traffic. Being in 2nd not only puts the engine closer to its max efficiency rpm but it also give a much more instant acceleration when a texter runs that stop sign or red light. Often instant acceleration and getting out of the way is the better option than trying to stop. that half second slower take off or time to down shift mite be the difference in making the escape. I do not use 5th till I am over 60 mph.
  21. There is no perfect carrier. A lot depends on the individuals that come into contact with your package. I saw five 60" TVs getting delivered, they were slid off the truck and allowed to drop to the ground one by one. It would not surprise me if they all had to be sent back. Sometimes I wonder if packages get rough handling as a form of job security. If you have to send it back, that is a shipped package and then the new one is another shipped package, it triples the amount of shipping and that needs more people to to handle the volume.
  22. You could just put the 2 of you in there and bring the water to a boil....................
  23. Every light on my bike except for the headlight and driving lights (headlight and driving lights are HID) is from Super Bright. I also use their lights in many non bike projects. I have always been very satisfied with their products. HID is still the brightest light available, But LED has passed up halogen and is getting closer to HID.
  24. Cool air and some snow makes for a perfect time to head for the hot tub........
