  1. There are some flashers that are made specifically for LED, those are the ones that may burn up if used with the higher current draw of incandescent. There is noting you can do in the flasher that will burn up the LEDs. All they know is that they are getting 12-14 volts and can not tell nore care where the power comes from. You can mix and match incandescent and LED. Once upon a time I was working on a LED friendly flasher that would retain the stock features of the bike like the self canceling, I never finished that project because I got my bike working without it. The fast flashing does not look like them going on solid and bright If yours are going full bright with no flashing then you may have some other issue.
  2. HEY! I gots a big 4X4 truck............................... The only time I ever been in the ditch (not counting ditch runs on purpose) was when a semi crossed over the center line to pass a slower car and the ditch looked a lot softer than the front of that semi.
  3. Thanks Boss You da man.
  4. No problem, when I find missing stuff I just make it newer and better and add more power.....................
  5. I know for sure there were pics in #16 , #19 , #21 , #30 , I do not remember the rest.
  6. Here is another how to thread that I seem to have lost the original photos for. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?77042-MORE-lights Thanks
  7. Found it http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?77042-MORE-lights.
  8. Using the correct LEDs is a big part of getting it to work. 1. The LED color needs to be the color of the lens and/or the needed color output. In other words a yellow LED for the turn signals. a red LED for the brake / tail lights. 2. There are some cheap LEDs that claim to be 1157 replacements but will not work in our application. I received a set for testing from another member that could not get them to work. After a bit of testing I determined that our turn signals ground the hot lead when the turn signal is in the off part of the flash. The LEDs were wired internally so that it would end up shorting the running lights to ground during the signal off cycle. I also noticed that the cheap LEDs were less than half the brightness of the good ones. I replaced all of the lights except headlights and fog lights (those are all HID) with LEDs all from http://www.SuperBrightLEDs.com. I could not be happier with the end result. I did do a write up on what I did, I will find that thread for you.
  9. And thru waist deep snow..............
  10. While it certainly has been colder, even much colder than this, I still don't care for anytime the temp is below zero, especially with the wind blowing. But this is still better than a hot summer day.
  11. That Saddlebum character sure does like to share his frigidness.
  12. Ahhhh, Ye of little faith............. I been laid up for a while. It is still an effort to run @cowpuc favorite machine. But we are getting there. We have already had snow on the ground in ALL 50 states at the same time.
  13. You still have to come back up here for the international and then Orlins MDs......... We will miss you..............
  14. I just get to look at mine for a while yet, one of the "perks" of having Collector plates is that you are not allowed on the roads in the month of January.
  15. Yes @cowpuc we are thinking of you over on this side of the pond too. You, Tippy and Sis are all in our thoughts and prayers to be ready for a full summer of CTFWing. And stop chasing the nurses, you know that they can all outrun you right now anyhow, besides, you could slip and fall on some .
  16. We just got slammed with that wave of cold air that @saddlebum promised. But at least we were able to crack the zero°F mark even though the wind chill is still around -20°F. Might have to go out and see if I can get all of the machinery calibrated after @Yammer Dan messed with stuff, at least enough so that it is not all landing on poor ol @cowpuc. But then where to send it............:scratchchin: Well I made another trip to doc to get looked at, he said it is healing well and has raised my weight restriction to 50 lbs. But there is still a LOT of swelling that he did not like so I go back for another look see in 2 weeks. He said that the swelling is due to fluid buildup and if it is not going down in 2 weeks then he will have to harpoon me with a LONG needle to drain off the juice. That just don't sound like fun. The good news for some is that I can at least start to wear pants again, at least for a little while...........
  17. See what happens when you spend too much time with this bunch of misfits............
  18. Well maybe you are turned off till the next time you get a whiff of my special balls..................
  19. If you have a big enough gun the trees will move out of the way.
  20. You still have to get out to replenish the Ice Cream supplies.
  21. Either a bigger antenna and/or a better preamp.
  22. Based on your description the pump ran for 11 seconds. This tells me the float bowls were empty. You either have a fuel blockage or a bad pump.
  23. Awesome Tom. Now you can do all of those other things............ .............Like shovel snow........
  24. So when are visiting times at the hospital?
  25. It is not that they forgot how to make good batteries. The car designers keep wanting the same CCA but in a smaller lighter package. To get that requires compromises. in this case they have to make the plates thinner and out of a foam like lead to get the same surface area as the old ones had with thicker and more plates. Thinner plates will not last as strong and will fail sooner. All that the car designers care about is a smaller lighter battery that will get past the 36 month new car warranty. I just had to replace a 3 year old battery in my truck, it is a 2011 and this is its 3rd battery. But the battery is smaller and lighter with more CCA than the monster that was in my old truck and lasted 6-7 years. Everything in electronics is a compromise you want more CCA you have to give something else up, size, or weight, or longevity. Nowadays they are giving up longevity in exchange for CCA and size. For the bike I still like the good old flooded cell Yuasa. it has less CCA than an AGM, but those big thick plates last a long time. The bike was designed to work with the lower CCA of the Yuasa.
