I am more of a KFC extra crispy but even though a walmart opened almost directly across the street from KFC, I have managed to single handedly keep them open. I still want to head out to Quaker Steak and lube to try their insainly hot chicken that you have to sign a waiver to order..........

clutch bleeder valve location!

There are a few members here that had to buy a new faring after spilling brake fluid on a faring. It eats the ABS slowly, first it soaks into the plastic then a few weeks later you will notice a soft spot that will finally crumble away and the edges of the hole will keep growing outward over time. You can not patch the hole because the brake fluid is still part of the plastic, you have to cut it out to be sure that you got it all and can then try to patch what is left. -
In addition to what Condor said, You said that you replaced the half plate but you did not mention the spring. The spring getting weak is what causes the slippage. Either the Barnett with HD springs or the PCW Racing HD spring which can be bought from @skydoc_17 on this site, will stop the slippage. While you are in there measure the clutch plates thickness, new is 3mm (0.1181 inch) thick and the wear limit is 2.8mm (0.1102 Inch), that is the only way to know if they need replacing.

Just as an FYI. There have been many mentions of covering things up before you start. The reason for this is that brake fluid is an excellent paint remover. It will eat thru any painted surface on the bike. The other nasty habit that brake fluid has is the it eats ABS plastic, Almost all of the plastic on your bike is ABS. The tiniest drop of brake fluid will eat a 3 inch hole thru any plastic part. The good news is that brake fluid and water mix well, So as soon as you are done bleeding get out the garden hose and rinse everything down really good to remove any brake fluid that got past your coverings. -

This is why it is important to have an accurate voltmeter installed on the bike. It gives you a chance to see that you have a problem before you are dead on the side of the road or do terminal damage to other pats. -
With my recent injury I am also in the same boat in deciding whether to keep or sell the Venture. But just because I may not have the venture is still no reason to leave this bunch of misfits call VR.org. So even if I have to sell the bike I will still be here to cause trouble and make sure that @cowpuc keeps :stirthepot: done properly.

Well the surgery went well and you all are not rid of me just yet. My heart did have a bad reaction to the pain meds when I got home so I have not been able to take any, Oh fun......... I went to the doc today to get the dressings changed and to have her take a look at things. She said it looks really good, and she was impressed that I have no swelling. She says that is a good thing. Apparently I did a real number on that poor old tendon not only did it tear in half but it also was shredded. The tendon is a nice tight bundle of fibers, when it breaks it usually just tears in half and just has to get sowed back together. but me always have to do things to the max, not only did I tear it in half but the bundle of fibers shredded lengthwise from the calf muscle to the heel. So first she had to sew and tie all the loose fibers back into a bundle, and then she had to sew the ends back together. the incision runs from the heel to the calf muscle. I will remain in a cast at least until my appointment next Wednesday, at that time I should get into a boot, but no walking in the boot till around Sept 27. At that time I will start walking with the boot and the crutches. Mid October I will start PT. Oh ya OUCH!!!!!

That day might not be so far away, I already have my walker, and there is no contest on the best ice cream flavor being Butter Pecan!

Is a MKI and a MKII interchangeable? I have a MKI that just needs some welding or brazing on the mounting bracket. Unfortunately it will be a while before I can get to the shop to do the welding or brazing. But at least the nipples look good.

I was just going to head down that road of an intermittent regulator, but you beat me to it. 17V will toast the battery, If you can use Pucs method of disconnecting everything you can, check the electrolyte level if you can, charge the battery and head for the nearest shop. Another option if you have tools, is to order a new RR shipped by next day air so you can install it tomorrow and be on your way. Odds are that this battery is not long for this world. Also keep an eye on all the light bulbs, 17V will stress them to. -
I can see that, I'll bet the HD guys would revolt to the presence of a big radiator just as much as we revolted to lack of one. Maybe the bike world will flip flop, HD will end up making water cooled V4s and we will all migrate there, and Yamaha will go to air cooled v twins and draw the HD crowd........

Last night I ended up having a bad reaction to the Percs. My normal resting heart rate is 50-55, about a half hour after I took the first Perc it shot up to 120-125. 7 hours later I finally got it back down to normal again. But it made for a long scary night not knowing if something was going to blow up and take me out. When I did finally get a hold of a doc after the rate had come back down he said that I should have been in the ER, and if it happens again to cal 911. I feel better today just real tired and real sore, I ain't taking no more of those Percs, so it is just OTC Tylenol for now, which don't do much.

I already have a size 14 foot......................... It just aint connected to my leg anymore.

It was my impression that the "water cooled" HD was just cooling the exhaust valve, the rest is still air cool. But I could be wrong since I am not a big follower of HDs.

Is there such a thing as this?

And dont forget the Pontiac 6 packs. So even in cars when you wanted performance you had a lot of carbs. -
Well I am home, stil haf in the bag.................. but alive, sort of. Hech with chasing the nurses, the doc is real hot........................ but I did get to mess with the nurses a fair amount. Doc said it went wel BUT, It was much worse than the MRI showed. In addition to the 2 complete tears ther wer "numerous" small tears tha also had to be stiched and "numerous small tears that did not need to be stitched. So I was cut from the heel to mid calf. Insted of just a boot I am in a cast from nee down to toes. in 4 weeks I get cast off and then start with the boot. I have not talked to doc yet this was relayed from family that doc talk to right after surgry. I get to see doc on 6tyh and again on 11th to get cast off and stitches out, then a new cast for a few more weeks.

The one on ebay with the VW carb is the one that no one has had great results with, It is functional and the bike will run, but you have to choose whether you want it to run good at speed or have some get up and go, pick only one. The one that did seem to work was a one off that a member here made for himself using a ford 2bbl carb. -
Something else new is coming next week....
