I can see where this WILL turn ugly very soon but I LOVE the concept!!
Flyinfool replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
I live in a rough neighborhood and very close to the high school. I have had a lot of things grow legs around here. I have thought about rigging up a package with an ignition coil. 25,000 Volts will get the attention of most people. But then I will have to invest in a security camera system.......... I am not sure about the legality of firing off a shotgun primer in the city. -
My New Primary Care Physician Love this Doctor Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true? A: Heart only good for so many beats, and that it... Don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap. Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake? A: Oh no. Wine made from fruit. Brandy distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up! Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio? A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one.. If you have two body, your ratio two to one. Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program? A: Can't think of single one, sorry. My philosophy: No pain...good! Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you? A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food fried in vegetable oil. How getting more vegetable be bad? Q : Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle? A: Oh no! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach Q: Is chocolate bad for me? A: You crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around! Q: Is swimming good for your figure? A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me. Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle? A: Hey! 'Round' is shape! Well... I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. And remember: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!" AND..... For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies. 1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans... 5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Don't check the pies with your fingers after it has been running for more that about 15-30 seconds. It will be really hard to clean the burnt on skin off of the pipes while your hands are all bandaged up.

You can't lie to a dog, they can smell a lie with that amazing nose. I just tell the dog I am going out and "I'll be back" If I say an hour she will expect me back in an hour. She would let me know if she was POed at me. There is no problem telling the wife I'll be back in an hour, She knows that I can not tell time............She even knows that the only place that that is open on weekends and sells "motorcycle gas" is 50 miles away..................

The other tip on that cover is that you MUST use a gasket. If you try to do it without the gasket using just a gasket maker the starter will not work, it NEEDS the gasket thickness for proper clearance of the starter gears. Then on the middle gear cover do not forget the copper washer on the bottom bolt or it will leak oil every time.

Spin On Filter Help Needed. 83 VR
Flyinfool replied to Zzyzx's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I could be wrong, but I have never heard of a direct fit spin on oil filter for the 1st gens. Using an adapter is the only way I have ever heard of it being done. Designing and making a spin on adapter is on my list of someday projects. -
:sign yeah that: Hopefully he is just being kept busy shoveling the that has been falling on him................

Welcome, careful these old bikes can be addictive......... Yes you will need a gasket to get to the clutch. Odds are that your clutch is fine, It is well documented that the clutch spring gets weak from old age, not from miles driven. When the spring gets weak the clutch starts to slip. The other common thing that will make a clutch slip is using the wrong oil. Any oil that contains friction reducers will make the clutch slip. I do not know about a CK2300 clutch as my original factory clutch is still just fine at 75K miles. My diaphragm spring was replaced with a better one at 40K.

Are you asking just the shop bill or does that include all of the parts that you sourced and bought for the shop to install? -
Well they copied everything else on the hardley......................

Feel free to swing by here for a visit on your way to wherever you may be headed. I may try my M&E in March again. Ya know, I did not make it up to deer camp in the U.P. this year due to my foot. Normally while up there I weld that Canadian back door shut using unobtainium welding rods. It usually takes them at least a few weeks to get it opened back up. It seems they now have that thing swung wide open already. Then there is my end, well sometimes I just can not resist an opportunity,,,,,,,,,,well most times I can not resist an opportunity. I could explode if I try to resist.

The "updates" are loaded onto your computer hard drive while you are using the computer, they then install at power down and no longer need the internet to do their damage. If the computer is forced to shut down once the update has started, it can really foul things up. Back when micro brain was trying to shove win 10 down our throats, I had found a piece of software that prevented win 10 from getting a foot hold in my machine. I wonder if their is something similar to block the unwanted updates.

Valve shimming issue
Flyinfool replied to bobber's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The tools that I made were a lot stronger than the OEM tool. As far as I know I was the only person that ever broke one of the latest design of my tool. The one that I broke was broke on purpose to test what the failure mode was. At $50 a pop I only tested one to failure. If you use the tool incorrectly it can be broken easily as long as it is fully seated and aligned correctly it will not break. Regardless of which tool you use it is very important that you do NOT run the tool into the soft aluminum head. Crashing the tool into the head will do some difficult to repair damage. This was learned the hard way by a few members. At the moment I think I have one or two tools left in stock If someone wants one I will dig into the pile to see what I have left. -
I did not hear about a wheel recall, I did the tail light recall and they sent me a new set of tail lights at no charge. I'll have to look into the tire recall.

Gasket sealer on head covers?
Flyinfool replied to luvmy40's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Even with the chicom gaskets I would think that you probably either rolled one or it slipped out of the groove and got pinched. No amount of sealer will help if you roll or pinch a gasket. I do not use sealer other than a few dabs of black RTV to help hold the gasket into the cover during install, install while still wet. -

I have only had the doc call me one time in my life after a test, that was the time I got put on the short list for heart surgery to get things back working right. With all of the docs I see regularly now IF I ever did get a call, I would have to believe it and scramble my butt down there sweating the whole way. I guess the docs up here do not cry wolf. It is also a good clue as to the importance is just how soon they will get you in, when they called me they also got me in the same day because it truly was serious. I would be a lot less concerned if the doc says "I need to see you right away" and makes an appointment for more than a week out.

When you put those bolts back in, clean the holes and the bolts so there is no oil or thread locker residue. Then install them with red Loctite, torque to spec, and stake them in place. If you are lucky they will not loosen up again. I had my start clutch replaced by @Dano to one that has 18 rollers instead of 3, so it should last forever. It is a bit more cost, but the savings will come in never having to do it again.

Puc you do know that if you buy that to save for the little guy, it will be all worn out before he is 2 years old............

Our Molly has gone to hunt pheasants with Jesus.. Molly 2-28-17 - 12-9-17 We will miss her so very much.................. Molly as our new puppy. Mollys favorite pastime, taking a nap. Coming home from hunting, her other favorite pastime. She so hated to have her picture taken. A bit of the devil in those eyes.
