  1. To me that sounds like a really good reason to jump on the bike and go for a ride in search of 4 more screws......... I'm sure they are at least 100 miles away.................
  2. I have to ask, WHY did you keep the security screws in there? Those are one of the main reasons people get new screws??? Or am I just old and not interpreting this correctly?
  3. Only 11 inches???? I must be getting soft in my old age. I would normally make that an even foot or 18 inches. I like round numbers. I will have to go out and check the sync on the nozzles, efficiency seems to be a bit off............
  4. Rodney Are you on a computer, a tablet or a phone. It seems that most people with phones and tablets have issues in chat. My phone is all but useless in chat.
  5. We just set a record for consecutive days of snow at 9. How could that depress anyone???? :confused24:
  6. How big is your dog? https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChcSEwjHqOvmhJ7ZAhVLtcAKHSvgC8wYABAQGgJpbQ&sig=AOD64_08n8saYj-cyqq86KfhSHpRc8gcHw&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwigyOTmhJ7ZAhUEn1MKHfUzCJ8Q9aACCD0&adurl=
  7. You can paint all of it except for the fins. putting paint on the fins will reduce the cooling ability. Painting the tanks and brackets will make it purdyer.
  8. See Don, I saved you from a squatting Cowpuc............................
  9. Good thing I have a 1st gen and most of you have 2nd gens, you'll never catch me............... I also have the stock of RUM Balls to confuse the 1st gens that might still be following me............... Besides, you don't need the tar, I already have the feathers...............
  10. I know a person that swears by the TP oil filters as being the best thing possible for oil filtration. He is also the same person that cusses at the new cars with their crappy engines that are completely worn out in 60-70K miles.
  11. Even better would be if there was also a taser built into the seats. You could then sell tickets to watch the show. I have used a square wave generator and an ignition coil more that once to control unwanted activities............
  12. I still use it every winter. Still working like new. Casters are still fine.
  13. You mean like this one? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?89136-My-pre-winter-project
  14. I take it that you do not stay at the Pond Monster Inn........Where the god stuff happens...........
  15. Yes one could do away with all of the safety features, it is easy to do. But that will make the bike a lot less safe to ride, and is not recommended. With all of the safeties out, you could engage the starter while in gear on the side stand, or the electric fuel pump will keep pumping if the bike is on its side, and all kinds of other silly oh $hit oopies.
  16. Maybe even RUM Balls..............
  17. That many different thing having the same issue is almost always a bad ground. Clean all of the grounds even if they look good. Not just the terminal either, look at the crimp, I have see corrosion where the wire goes into the terminal. The only way to fix that is a new terminal.
  18. Slipping clutch is not normal in any gear at any speed. BUT a slipping clutch IS common. It is also very easily fixed. Ol @cowpuc was right in that it is a weak spring your bike does not have the 6 coil springs like Pucs bike has, you have the single diphragm spring. You can get a new heavier duty spring from Member @skydoc_17 in the classified section. You will also need a right engine side cover gasket. If you do the job on the side stand and the oil is not over filled you do not even have to drain the oil (unless it is due for a change anyhow). It is a simple job that can be done in a half hour if you have done it before, or 45 minutes to an hour if you never did it and about 3 hours if you have experienced help and pizza. As for the clutch plates, until you inspect them there is no way to know if they are still good or not, New friction discs measure 3mm (0.1181 inch) thick and the wear limit it 2.8mm (0.1102 inch) thick.
  19. I am hoping to be there again, Even if it is in the truck, again.
  20. I guess it is bit easier for me. I am not a sentimental person so I do not need to hold on to sentimental items. When I go thru an area that is really bad it is a simple rule. Unless real vale as in I could sell it for real cash, and I have not used it in a year, then I really do not need it. Things like the box full of chunks of wood that you keep just in case yo need a little piece for something, I found that when I need a piece of wood I do not go to that box, I go to the lumber yard, so the box went away. My basement now looks like one of the hoarder TV shows, I am getting real close to doing another purge, who knows what neat toys will end up gone.
  21. I like it! Nice job. We are getting another 6 inches this weekend:snow2: Don't you dare wake me up...............
  22. Good luck with your new adVenture. As SilvrT mentioned hiring that first employee is scary if you get to that point. I have a friend that is a great entrepreneur, he has started several very successful businesses that grew until they just got to be way to much work for one person. He could never make that leap to hire help, and the service of his business would drop due to being late with stuff and finally get its rep from great to bad and close down.
  23. I guess it depends on what just what you were trying to accomplish with the relay. If you just want it so that the grip heat power is not going thru the ignition switch, this will accomplish that task. If you were wanting to not have the big power going thru the hi, lo, off switch then you would need 2 relays to do that. The only thing I would do different is to have the fuse between the relay and the battery instead of after the relay. With the fuse after the relay, you have unprotected components and wires. Fuse should always be the first thing the power goes through.
  24. Spiders? Cool I'll bring George, my pet tarantula.
  25. On my 1st gen I did a power and ground strips for connecting accessories. Half of the power strip is switched power that only comes on when the ignition is in run or accy, the other half is direct battery power. all of this is thru a 40A maxifuse. This way there is just the one extra wire and one extra ground wire to the battery. I never frame ground anything if I can help it. I prefer to run real ground wires. Not sure what the similarities are, but I did a power strip on a RSTD and put it next to the battery under the seat. Worked out great.
