  1. That is where I bought my '88 from. They were pretty decent to deal with. I even got them to exchange windshields with another venture that was on the floor cuz it had a better one. But the boss is not supposed to know that......
  2. I also need a set. Just let me know when and where to send funds.
  3. I did race RC cars for a while, 1/10 off road and 1/12 and 1/18 scale carpet cars. Here are some pics of a few of my toys. Winter is no reason to stop flying. I'll fly as long as the temp is above -10F. I even put skis on my jet and the helies fly better the colder it gets.
  4. I noticed the giant scale red and white airplane hovering just off the ground in the pics along the top of the home page. I didn't catch whose it was. I was wandering how many people here are into flying model aircraft, and of what type? I do a lot of Radio control helicopters, I have all of the sizes from micro to gassers, and dabble in everything else. I have one Giant Stinger, one turbine powered jet, and a multitude of airplanes from micro electrics to gassers and everything in between. Who else has found this other money pit for a hobby?
  5. Gee Bob, That sounds like a great trip, I sure wish I could tag along. Unfortunately, there is no way I could get that much time off work and still have a job when I got back.
  6. If you were snapping pics the whole time, where are they???
  7. Just got mine today. Looks great I guess now I need a 3/8 torque wrench. Entering shopping mode......
  8. The bolts needed are 8mm not sure of the pitch, I can check that when I get home tonight. I can also check the length that worked with my puller. The bolts that I used came with my puller that I bought over 20 years ago for pulling the harmonic balancer off of a Chevy V8 engines. There are no grade markings on these bolts. You will need a strong puller to get this off. While I was looking for a clutch I found that PCW Racing has a puller specifically for this flywheel http://www.pcwracing.net/featured.htm I did draw up a CAD model for a dedicated puller that I was going to make, but I was finally able to get the puller that I already had to work.
  9. Awesome flame job. BUT That was a cruel cruel joke to post a link to the website for all of those wonderful paints. But some of them are up to $100 / oz. But I like them. Dang, here we go again.:mo money:
  10. Wow, an off road venture, I love it.
  11. Mike you lucky dude. I sure wish mine was back, and it has only been out of my hands for a half hour now, today would have been a gorgeous day to have ridden to work, first time above freezing in a long time. Dan My flywheel finally made it into the hands of the post office today. I have never had so many thing conspire against me getting something packaged and to the post office. But that could be a whole nutter thread. I think I can now cut some other people a little more slack when I am waiting on my latest toy, stuff actually can happen.
  12. The dog food is either in a metal can or a big Tupperware bucket with a lid. No, I still think it is that they are just trying to show their buddies that they are tougher than the dog. As in "Hey, watch thi..........munch" Silly critters.
  13. How come they do that?? Notice I did not ask why. (doh) I have always had hunting dogs. I have always had mice in the house and rabbits nesting in the yard. After my last dog passed away there was a 4 year span that I had no dog. During that 4 year span, I also had no mice in the house nor rabbits nesting in the yard. Now that I have another hunting dog I once again have mice in the house and rabbits nesting in the yard. The dog is very good at catching the mice and rabbits, but yet they persist. Is there something built in to prey animals that they find it exciting to try to live as close to a predator as they can? Is there a built in knowledge that since there are very few predators in the city that some of them must find ways to commit suicide to keep the population in check for the benefit of the species? I don't get it. But my dog loves it, and they keep her occupied while I am at work. She is always very proud to deliver to me her catches of the day when I get home. OK senseless mind wandering over for now. Is it spring yet? Maybe its just cabin fever, and my scoot needs some exercise.
  14. I agree totally that I need to get out and ride more. 90% of my riding is a 20 mile each way commute to work, but since I have a desk job I can only ride on nice days during the week of summer that we get here. I hate getting to work wet. My other hobbies are not compatible with riding, for them I need the 8' box on my P/U. Hmmmm........ maybe if I build a 4 foot wide by 9 foot long x 3 foot high box trailer to pull behind the scoot............ How much weight can a 1st gen pull? Anyone ever try electric trailer brakes with a scoot? Now you bums got me thinking again. :mo money:
  15. I guess I need one of these too huh. PP on the way.
  16. I had the exact same thing last fall with the clutch slipping in 5th gear on the highway when I grabbed full throttle. I was not sure if it was a clutch problem or just that it was 10° out and the oil was colder and thicker lubing the plates better. My bike is at 40K. I was able to find out that a new clutch friction plate is 3mm (.118 inch) thick and the replace dimension from the service manual is 2.8mm (.110 inch) thick. So now I will be able to tell just how much life is left in my clutch friction plates. PCW told me that he has never seen a worn out set of the steel plates. He did recommend bead blasting the steel plates to renew the surfaces. I even have bead blasting capability in my basement. As soon as I get the left side of the engine back on I will start on the clutch. And in the spirit of "as long as I'm in there" I also ordered the fuse panel upgrade and am trying to track down the battery cable upgrade. This is getting to be a long winter for me and my scoot. :mo money:
  17. That sure looks stronger than the stock setup. Mine will be on the way shortly.
  18. Even if you have one of them expensive high quality USA made sockets you can still grind it down till it fits.
  19. I think it would be really cool to have a set of carbon fiber plastics. Especially if laid up using the colored carbon cloth (red:))that is available and a clear gel-coat. I can not afford it by a long shot but it would be a unique look.
  20. Once I had the cover off I did realize that that is the source of one of my oil leaks. I have not cleaned it up yet to inspect it, is that plug replaceable, or just goop it up good with sealant at assembly? The stator does look good with no signs of heat. I was also planning soldering the 3 white wires while I am in the area.
  21. I just pulled the flywheel out to send to Dano to do the starter clutch upgrade. As long as I'm in there, is there anything else I should be checking out or doing? I will also be pulling out the clutch to put in the HD spring from PCW Racing, and plates if needed. Again, anything else that I should be checking out while in there?
  22. Hmmmmmm..... don't know how the post doubled a couple of hours apart. I cheated, I tied a line from the puller to the frame above the flywheel so that when it popped it could not go anywhere. Which "that washer" are you referring to? Do you need the springs and rollers? I do need the gaskets and crush washer.
  23. Well I got the flywheel off yesterday. Man that thing comes off hard and with a bang, The bang was loud enough to startle me, not to mention that the flywheel and puller go flying at a pretty good clip. But I did manage to hang on to it so it did not hit the floor anything else. I have never had to crank that hard on a puller for anything before. The clutch surface of the 72th gear is really chewed up and the rollers are no longer round. Dano, Look for mine in the mail, it should ship Monday or Tuesday once I find a box strong enough to keep it inside.

  25. Since my scoot is not ride-able yet, let it snow. :snow2::snow2: I would really feel bad if the weather was nice for riding and the bike was laid up yet.
