Hmmmm It does say "some daffodilS", I do have one in my back yard. Off we go in search of......

I just sent my PP for 2 bells. Now I just need to find someone to give them to.

The only thing worse than finding a Big Ol Gator in the road is watching it hatch. Glad you came out in one piece.

Yes on what Ruffy said, use a step drill on sheet metal, unless it is a very small hole size, a regular twist drill will leave a very ugly hole and may even bend the fender when (not if) it catches as it breaks thru. Be sure to deburr the back side of the hole. As Gary mentioned use a spring loaded center punch, much easier and safer for the fender than a hammer, and seal the edges of the hole to prevent rust from starting on the raw metal edge.

Got blue lighted on way to work this morning
Flyinfool replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
It should be warming up by now. I need more lights. -
Especially up here where we have a real winter, the cages have forgotten that we exist. They have not seen a bike for the last 6 months. I finally got my bike running and have ridden to work the last 3 days and have had to take evasive action at least twice each day due to cages pulling out from stop signs in front of me, and I am riding with my high beam on during daylight hours. Two of them, I could see them turn their head to look my way and yet still did not see me. I think a white strobe may be in order.

Or just spend some (OK a lot of) extra time with the dog and teach it to stay in the yard. It took about 6 months to a year to teach the concept of stay in the yard to each of my last 3 dogs (still working on the new puppy). Once trained I can go to a new location, walk the dog around the yard to tell her the boundaries and she will stay within those boundaries unless ordered out by me. It is a LOT of work to teach this but well worth the effort down the road. I do not like shock collars, I would rather train than torture. just my opinion. Put that collar on yourself and try it out once to see just what you are doing to your poor dog. Even our local LEOs must get tased before being authorized to use a taser so that they know exactly what the person is feeling when they use it.

The most fun is crossing through a MayFly hatch. They are so thick in the air that it is like driving in a heavy snowstorm, and they pile up on the road to the point that they will bring out the snow plows to push them to the side, and they are really slick on the road.

Snopes also says that the Swedish police said the bike was traveling at ~155 mph.

I just finished a job on my bike that had all of the engine covers off. After a quick trip to the tool store I now have a set of 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drive clicker type torque wrenches I already had the 1/2. I lucked out and they were on sale at Harbor Freight for $19 and $14. for the last 45 years I have been using my calibrated wrist to torque thing with great success, nothing ever came apart and I never broke a bolt. I never realized just how little 7 foot pounds really is, or at the other end, just how much 100 foot lbs is. Time to go shopping.

Hmmm... Might be a good way to get rid of all of that nasty old gas leftover from the last decade. Besides, you two might need supervision....

where can I get valve cover
Flyinfool replied to gord's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I got mine at the local stealersip. Get the set of 16 valve cover bolt seals as long as you are going to be in there. I have read on here that you can use the 2nd gen gaskets and they actually work better than the correct ones. I'm sure that someone that knows the full facts on this will chime in soon. -
I just did everything possible that I can think of to bring winter back. I got the bike cleaned up and running. I put all of the snow shovels away. I took the snow brush and ice scraper out of the truck. Started taking down the storm windows and putting up the screens. I don't know what else I can do to bring back winter???

If you are ever headed down to the south side of Milwaukee just let me know. The lights look a lot better in person than in any photos I can take. Here is the thread from the light project. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41588.

After a winter of many upgrades, I finally got everything buttoned up and went for a short 40 mile ride. The upgrades/maintenance that I got done are; 1. Starter clutch mod from Dano. 2. PCW clutch upgrade. 3. Fuse panel from SkyDoc17. 4. Grease, Oil, filter 5. Clean up some P.O. wiring mess. 6. bath and wax 7. solder stator wires 8. seat bolts 9. Radiator flush and fill 10. Trunk reflector fitted with 168 LEDs wired as brake, running, turn lights. (actually done late last fall) And probably more that I forgot I did. WHEEW!!! It felt real good to be back on the road with everything working.

Side Reflectors to LED's
Flyinfool replied to Hotrod's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Now why did you have to post a link to J&P. They have way to much cool stuff for me to have seen. -
Like anything else, get out your wallet, now how fast do you want to go? :mo money: Look on PCW racing for everything from the parts to complete big bore engines. :mo money:

Weedeater??? Whats that for this time of year? Everything here is either brown or still covered in white. I hope you are having fun eating weeds, I'll be out for a ride.

That is what it looks like they did for the larger foot one. It is the same small foot with a piece of 1/4 thick aluminum diamond plate screwed to the bottom. Those are both made from all aluminum. I'm not sure if I want to lean 900+ lbs onto a clamped on piece of aluminum. It may be fine as is. That is just my initial thought.

Uhaul rents small trailers, bike towable?
Flyinfool replied to FutureVentures's topic in Watering Hole
Just for giggles I called U-haul and they said it can be towed behind any vehicle. The vehicle must be rated for 2000 lbs towing capacity. "A motorcycle is not a vehicle it is a bicycle." The weight of that trailer empty is 535 lbs. No one at U-Haul could give me the outside dimensions of the trailer. The inside dimensions are 6 foot long by 3' 9" wide.- 6 replies

Flyinfool replied to FutureVentures's topic in Watering Hole
It might be bike tow-able but it sure looks to be a wide load for a bike. Since it is as wide as a small car, you will have to keep your bike centered on the oil slick of your lane.- 6 replies

As long as we are talking about Water heaters, I installed mine 22 years ago so it is getting close to be time for a new one, even though I can still stand in a hot shower for 30 minutes and not run out of hot water. From a 40 gallon gas heater. I was thinking of putting in one of the gas tankless on demand type water heaters that does not need to vent up the chimney but will vent through the wall. The current water heater is the only appliance using the chimney and I would like to remove the chimney from the house to gain the space from it and the old water heater. Any one have any experience with going this route?
