  1. Looks like fun to play with if you have smooth hard floors. I'll wait a couple more years after the street version for the off road version.
  2. That is why I will drive my cage deep into the woods to escape from all of the loonies out there.
  3. Sounds good except for the shrimp cocktail part, I am allergic to seafood. There used to be a restarant locally hear that had a 42oz sirloin challange, I used to go there when I was poor and hungry till they refused to let me do the challenge any more. There is another pizza joint where I am still the only person to finish off their large deep dish pizza. 24" dia x 3" thick with a thin crust. I did not know till after it was done that I was the first, That was 30 years ago and I am still the only one. No way could I do that now. I'd have a heart attack if I were to even think about it. Ahhh..... the good old days.
  4. Are you sure that you are connected to the proper terminals on the switch and that you don't have it switched 180°. From what you described it should work.
  5. I did a lit windshield many years ago, long before LEDs were readily available. Just having the edge lit I found to be very distracting while riding at night. Yes every scratch including the micro scratches to small to be seen lite up nice and bright at night.
  6. I wonder if one of those prototypes made it to the new Harley museum?
  7. This was in today's paper about a local guy doing custom laser etched and illuminated motorcycle windshields. http://www.jsonline.com/business/94886274.html http://www.illumatek.com/ I don't know if he can or will do a Venture windshield and I would not pay that kind of cash right now but it is still really cool.
  8. Yah, Boomer got scared. Oh you mean about your bike problem...... Does it only do this while cold?

    WTF

I guess that means that you did not hear about the issue in Oshkosh WI then. Where a Vet, Disabled in Kuwait was ordered to take down his American flag or be evicted by the end of the week. I care more about the living than I do about who is decorating a grave.
  10. I was in the cafeteria at work today. I normally go there late so it is quiet and calm with not many people around. On the other side of the room I could overhear a conversation between one of the cafeteria managers and a customer. I was not paying close enough attention till I was snapped to attention by the comment "by the end of this year the oil in the gulf will have flowed up the Mississippi and be contaminating the shores in Wisconsin". Too which I could only think WTF!!! They then morphed the conversation to the FACT that rivers can only flow south. It is "impossible" for water to naturally flow North. On my way out the door after I finished my lunch I mentioned to the manager that water will always flow down hill regardless of which direction that is. Water does not know how to read a compass. At that same time as I mentioned this there was another customer that walked in and got all over me, because it is a FACT that water can only flow from north to south. At which point I had to RUN FOR MY LIFE. I did not post this in Jokes and Humor cuz it really did just happen!! I thought that I had a pretty good handle on this gravity thing and how it relates to water. Or am I all wet and therefore doomed to be headed south. I'm scared now. Hiding in my office with all of the lights off. OK flame suit on,,,,,,,,,or should I be wearing a wet suit.
  11. Cool, I found it to.
  12. But the second one is the one that you really should find a way to rectify.

    WTF

    Anything to do with Oshkosh?
  14. No, As the clutch wears the system will suck in more fluid to make up the difference. It is just like the brakes in your car the pedal does not get lower as the brakes wear. No, A weak spring will cause the clutch to slip at high throttle settings. It is a very easy job that can be done in less than 30 minutes. After the fluid change I think it is just what it is. I do not know of any adjustment for the lever position. (But I could be wrong) Hope this helps
  15. Yes we will need a full report WITH VIDEO. Sounds like fun. I have never hit red line with my 88 yet. It always scares me before I get that far and my buddies hardly is always well behind me before then anyways. I would not want to end up running against the Harley that is in the parking lot where I work, he has over $10K into just the engine and runs in the low 8's.
  16. For the CL ad that I currently have when I get an email that I believe may be a scam I set up a free gmail account with a fake name to send the reply. That way if by chance they are legit I have not lost them and if they are not legit they have nothing to use to scam or harass me. When the ad is done I just never look at the gmail account again.
  17. According to the QC department here at work, My HF 3/8 drive is more accurate than my very expensive Snap On 1/2 inch drive. As was mentioned above, the hf was within 2 lb/ft across the range and the Snap on was within 5 lbs across the range. With both set to the same value the HF beat the snap on.
  18. Is that a cassette deck I see on there???
  19. I have been told that it is possible to install the new spring and not have it seated correctly in its groove. This would also cause slipping. My Clutch spring upgrade also does not start to engage till the last 1/4 inch before the clutch is all of the way out. I called PCW and was told that this is fairly common. I have not yet figured out how to get it back to a "normal" feel, PCW also has not figured out why it does this on some bikes and not others. But It will not slip at any throttle setting in any gear. It just has a very narrow friction zone. Since the gaskets are so cheap I have elected to keep a spare set of the clutch gasket and the 2 side cover gaskets for the left side on hand just so I do not have to wait around when I need one next.
  20. Hmmmm......... First off, glad there was no damage to you or the bike. Second, sounds like a $5 donation coming up. Third, The clutch fluid is a sealed system, it should not have leaked out while the bike was down. Fourth, It is possible that while the bike was down some oil got up into the breather that is connected to the intakes, and then got sucked into the carbs after you started it back up. Oil in the carbs can also happen if the oil is overfilled. With the bike upright (not on the side stand) on level ground the oil level should be no higher than the center of the sight glass on the right side of the engine.
  21. Not a new clutch, just a new clutch spring. Big $$$ difference.
  22. I did hit all of the disk bolts with the torque wrench and none of the bolts moved so they were all tight. I did scuff the right side of the rear brake disk and it did help reduce the noise a lot but it is still not gone. I did not have time to pull the rear wheel so that I can take the disk off to scuff the left side of the disk. I now think it is just a glazed rear disk, since scuffing what I could get to did help. As soon as I get a chance I will pull the rear wheel to clean up the rear brakes properly, and pull out that snap ring and clean and lube the pins. It will also be a good chance to check to be sure that I did not create a leak when I pulled the drive shaft out of the rear end. and do another oil change on the rear end since the oil that I changed two weeks ago looked so bad. Speaking of the rear end oil change, Is it realistic to dump some solvent into the rear end and spinning it by hand to flush out that old muddy oil and crud or am I just best to keep changing the oil every other tank of gas till it drains out clean?
  23. been there done that have the T shirt. Cept I got the house and the first choice of which car I wanted. Didn't have a bike back then. My EX finally told me to chose between her and my toys. I chose wisely. It sounds like you have chosen wisely also.
  24. I have a friend that listed his bike on CL for $4K. He made the mistake of putting his home address in the add. Within a couple of days he got a UPS next day package with a check for $8K and a request to ship the bike with $3k of his money. he checked with his bank and they checked out the check and of course it was a forgery. He turned all of the info over to the cops. The cops said they do not have time for crap like this. A week later he got another check from the same guy drawn on the same bank, same account, even the same check number and again it was sent UPS red. this one he turned over to the feds, at least they were polite enough to say thank you and not just blow him off. This was about a year ago and he has heard nothing. If you like to mess with scammers, check out www.419eater.com.
  25. What can happen if your RPM is to low you are actually riding with the throttle MORE open to get enough power to the rear wheel in the higher gear. Down shifting to run a higher rpm will actually close the throttle some to maintain the same speed. Yes it sounds backwards but it works, to a point. The most efficient speed to run an engine is usually at or just below peak torque. With my truck pulling a 6000 lb camper at 70mph in overdrive the engine is turning about 2500 RPM, I will get 9-10 MPG, If I shift into 3rd the rpm will go up to 3000, the speed will stay at 70, and the mileage will go up to 12-13 MPG. Without the camper that same truck gets 17-18MPG at 70mph on the same road whether it is in 3rd or overdrive. As far as the slipping at high rpms and load, there are a bunch of threads on the slipping clutch and how to easily fix it.
