Last night at around 10:00pm there were some bad storms with heavy wind, hail, lightening, AND Tornadoes. There was a lot of damage. I know that we have some members out in the area hardest hit. There is no land phone service or power. At one point there were 48,000 without power. I sure hope everyone is OK. According to the weather dude on TV the super cell that spawned the tornado went directly over me and dissipated as it got closer to the lake. This was the closest that I have ever been to heading for the basement.

Maybe you should just tell BoomerCPO that he has cheesecake, he will be chased and hounded relentlessly.

Keep looking, in one of the threads there was photographic evidence of a pond monster out of the water. They are invading land now..

Except in the Chinese one they never seem to drive more than 15 mph, it never looked like anyone had anything worse than bumps or bruises. Some of these looked like there was a high probability of serious injury or worse.

That same set of storms just blew thru Milwaukee and SE WI, North IL. Lots of down trees and power lines. Straight line winds of 76mph with veary heavy rain and hail. It sure looks like they have a bead on northern Ohio. I sure hope someone out there has an eye on this one.

I sure hope that your satellite has IR capability so that we can keep up on the shenanigans that go on all night long.

Battery keeps dying in the garage...
Flyinfool replied to Semi-retired's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I use a solar powered tender over the winter only. (bike is kept in a steel shed with no power.) In spring and fall there are times where the bike may sit for 2 or 3 weeks at a time with no problem. I have a 3 year old battery of whatever Kmart sells. -
OK, there are a bunch of us that can not make it to MD 2010 and here is a place for those that are at MD 2010 to post some of the fun for the rest of us poor soles. PLEASE!! Pretty please, with ice cream on it.

Uncomfortable with heal toe shifter

You could always cut it off and have it welded back on where you want it. -

:sign yeah that: I was thinking about getting driving lights but I went the HID route, and it is amazing what the diference is. The night visibility on my bike with just the one 35W HID is better than on my P/U with both the high and lo beam + driving lights on. Yes the one 35W HID bulb is more light than the six 55W bulbs in my truck. If I do decide to get driving lights I will get something that uses an H3 bulb, the most common bulb, and put in two 35W HID for the driving lights. Although with 3 HIDs burning the flow of photons coming out the front of the bike may just slow it down to the speed of a 2nd gen. Forget about the "cool" purple or blue look, it is light that you are after, get a HID setup close to 6000K, make sure it is cycle rated and is Bi-xenon so that you retain Hi and Lo beam. There is a writeup that I did on the installation in my 1st gen. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45603 -
It's only the "stinkin'" buckets he is worried about..... The rest must be OK. I'm not sure if it is good or bad that I will not be able to make it there.

Here is what I did with my 88 Venture. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41588 Is this what you are talking about?

Sorry to hear this about the warden. My better half is just about done healing up after a Carpal Tunnel job. Yup it is a lot harder to keep a good woman down to heal (I specified to heal, really I did). You tell her to behave so that she can heal up fast AND proper. I've had a bad ankle for all of my adult life and don't wish that on no one. Who is left to make sure that you are behaving while out of her sight now?

I park in the shade. If the bike is at home in is in its shed, if it is at work it is in the covered motorcycle parking area. This covers 95% of my riding. On those rare occasions that it will be in the sun for a long time AND it is a hot day, I put my white towel on the seat. On cold days I like that warm seat.

Another one of my letters got published in the newspaper...

And this another perfect example of why I can not (and you should not) believe ANYTHING from the CDC. 76+44=120 that is 40% of 300 not 67%. How can you believe their stats on something complex, when they can not do 3rd grade math. They are all about their agenda and to heck with the truth. Comparing dogs to guns is totally irrational. I have many guns, not once has one jumped up and ran out the door and killed something. A gun is an inanimate object that is only capable of doing what its owner asks, A dog is a living breathing animal with a mind of its own and may or may not be under some semblance of control of its owner. Yes I have an English Springer Spaniel that is my best friend and hunting buddy. As Springers go she turned out to be a monster at 78 lbs (standard for the breed is 45lbs). Springers are very well known for their mild temperment (although a bit hyper) and are supposed to be great with kids. (I have no kids and will not experiment on someone elses) A few months ago some drunk thought it would be fun to come onto my property and kick the crap out of my dog while she was on a leash and could not get away. His leg is still in a cast, the dog did not hurt him... but now this sweet dog shows aggression to ANYONE that smells like cigarettes or alcohol. This has me worried and I have been working hard with her to overcome this fear. At 78 lbs she is very capable of doing great damage to any person. I take this possibility very seriously and take many steps to protect others. I have had to take out one dog with a 2 lb ballpeen hammer that attacked me from behind while I was bent over under the hood of my car in my backyard. I am big enough and with the aid of the hammer the Siberian Husky did not get in a second bite. My 6 year old daughter would not have fared as well. OK I'll get off my soap box now. -
Did he put any sealant on the cleaned area of the rim? If not it was a temporary fix and will corrode and leak again, soon. The rims have an anodized finish on them which is not just for looks but also adds corrosion protection, and the wire brush will remove that finish. With no finish it will corrode quickly. There is a black brush on sealant that every tire shop has that works well for sealing the aluminum rim after cleaning the corrosion off.

So you have had the pump for like 20 minutes now. I hope you are out on your test ride by now......

In just the last 24 hours in 3 separate and unrelated incidents there have been 3 motorcycle fatalities in the Milwaukee area. one was due to a cage turning in front of the bike and the bike losing control while trying to avoid the cage, he died of head injuries with his helmet strapped to the bike. one was do to extreme speed and lose of control. Driver died immediately with traumatic amputations and passenger is critical. Last was a case where a cage found the wrecked bike and decesed rider on the side of the road, with no obvious cause of the crash. It was later determined that it was a bike deer crash. Lets all be careful out there. That is way to many hitting way to close to home.

I would find a dealer to do the work other than the one that you just got into trouble by going over their heads. I guess I am just eternally skeptical.

Since I was a kid we called it "grabbing a handful" of throttle.
