  1. Cool Now I can start planning / finagling / conniving to try to make it happen. In my 30 years with a bike it will/would be my longest trip.
  2. I really do not know if my finances will allow me to make, it but if I can the 4th would be best for me. Bottom line is to do what will work best for you. Thanks for doing this for everyone.
  3. All three instructors said there was no issue with my grip or trigger finger. I was checked with the infamous spent round in the chamber test. The muzzle never moved when I pulled the trigger. I completely agree, but it works till someone can show me what I am doing wrong. I shoot right handed but am very left eye dominant to the point that I shoot right handed and must sight with my left eye. It does cause me to have to grip the gun a little strange. I have always thought it was tied to 4 I agree fully. My one hand gun that is sighted in correct for me or anyone else is a Magnum Research Lone Eagle in 7mm-08 with a scope. I have taken deer at 150 yards with this gun. I'm trying to get the deer out of your way. (Ha! Like the way I swung this back on topic?)
  4. Glad you came out in one piece. How did the deer fair? Is it ready to make sausage? I sure wish someone could tell me what I am doing wrong or different. If I were to shoot one of your guns and aim for the bull I will be 6 inches low and 3 inches left, If you shoot one of my guns that I adjusted the sights on, you will be 6 inches high and 3 inches right. I shoot nice tight consistent groups. I have had 3 different profesional instructors watch me shoot, one of them used high speed video and none of them can tell me what I am doing wrong or different. One said to not worry about it as long as I always tell someone using my gun where the gun shoots and if someone steals one of my guns, they wont hit $hit with it.
  5. I think it is the small intake and exhaust valves that are limiting the airflow/power. The air box as is can flow plenty of air. If you need more power/airflow that bad then look into getting a set of V-Max heads and rear gears. OR
  6. Welcome to the site. It is well worth the $12 / year for the info available. Like the service manual that you bought that can just be downloaded from here. I also have an 88 so I will be watching your rebuild with interest. For the scratches in the windshield, If it is original windshield you do not want to sand out the scratches. I went that route. Yamaha used a very soft grade of plastic for the windshield and then put a hard scratch resistant coating on it. My windshield was very cloudy and scratched up so I started out with some 2000 wet (I had a heck of a time getting thru the hard coating) and then went through the steps to get it clear again. That part worked great, but now if you look at it wrong it will leave a mark even the hard shell of a bug will leave a mark when it hits. I have found that the OEM windshields are readily available, and less cost than any of the after market ones.
  7. When I was young and doing stupid things, There was no internet or video cameras, or who knows what might have been viewed globaly.
  8. The pat that made me laugh was the label on the bottle of stuff to drink, where it says MAY cause diarrhea. I don't think there is any chance of MAY. On the radio this morning they said that a colonoscopy is no longer subject to an insurance deductible according to the obamacare.
  9. Yes in that particular vid a seat belt may have helped. But there is no way you would want to be belted in if you were to lay it down at speed. It is far to likely that the bike would start to tumble and I would want the option of kicking away from it.
  10. I wonder if they would deliver and setup in upper MI?? Look out deer......
  11. I went 30 years and over a million miles of avoiding those critters. Then I got 2 in one day about 5 miles apart, on my way to my deer hunting stand. Go figure. But they were both delicious. Fortunately the heavy 3/16 thick solid steel of my front bumper (full size GMC P/U) won both battles, the only damage was a broken fog light and a cracked air dam below the bumper. Barely even felt the bump. Tonnage rules.
  12. How about these? http://www.mcmaster.com/#square-caps/=8y36p8 bottom of page. For $10 you will have enough for all of your friends trailers to.
  13. You should have at least brought the deer home with you, it would have kept you fed for a couple of months and the money saved on meat would have paid for the repair parts. Deer are delicious.
  14. I hope you had it turned on will post the vid......
  15. I have to agree. By the time I am ready for 3 wheels the 2nd gen Spyder should be out and I will be able to pickup one of the "better" 1st gen Spyders for cheap.
  16. Can you post pics of the damage so that we are guessing as to how bad it is?
  17. I just watched it again. It still looks like fun. I do not know if at my age I am physically able to make a climb like that any more. BUT Once he gets to the top I notice that he is standing on the platform with the light and is using BOTH hands to mess with the ropes BEFORE he ties himself in. His partner is not wearing a parachute for the trip down. At least there is an elevator to get you to the 1600 ft level that only leaves a 150 foot climb to the top.
  18. When I bought the Venture that I know have, I was allowed to hear it run in the driveway but I was not allowed to take it for a ride. I was given a full money back warranty of 1 hour (in writing). That way if I wreck it during the test ride it is my problem. If I ever sell it I will do the same for anyone that comes to look at it. There are too many tire kickers out there that just want to see what it is like to ride a bigger bike.
  19. That looks like fun. I wonder what it does pay? It looks like they have to work on the light that is below knee level while 2 guys are standing on that tiny platform. I wish I could find the vid of them fixing whatever they had to fix and the vid of the trip down. The traffic pattern for landing an airplane is 700 feet.
  20. Actually you can still get a lot of calls that are "legal". ANY business that you have ever done business with may call you. The politicians that wrote the law gave themselves an exemption so that they can call you for campaigning, polls, etc. "Charitable" causes may still call you.
  21. Go here http://www.venturerider.org/private/RSVparts.pdf Go to pdf page 33, Page C9 of the manual, bookmark CRANKCASE COVER C1. The screw and copper washer are items 20 and 21.
  22. If it is a buck on the trail of a hot doe, he is likely to intentionally attack anything that gets in his way. My next door neighbor was on vacation up in the north woods and stopped so the kids could see the does grazing on the side of the road, The spot they happened to stop was between a buck and his harem. The buck attacked the car and punched many hole through the sheet metal before they sped off with the buck chasing them. If you only got it once a year you would get the same way....
  23. It depends on if you signed up on the state or national "Do not call" list. I am on both. In Wisconsin the state list is updated quarterly, and you have to reregister every 2 years. Each state does there own thing so your state may be different or not even exist. The WI laws are tougher than the national laws. The national list takes 31 days for you number to appear on the list, but once there it is permanant, you never will need to reregister your number.
  24. HA! I've had that pic framed and hanging on the wall at work for years.
  25. The clutch is hydraulic and self adjusting. The friction point should not change as the clutch wears. Have you put in a clutch spring upgrade and got rid of the half plate? What you are describing is very common if you have done this upgrade. If you have not done the upgrade and the clutch did not used to be like this then you may have some other issue coming up.
