  1. My sister had that plastic drive gear turn to snow, $3 and 15 minutes and it was good as new.
  2. Flyinfool

    Why?

    WHY??, Just cuz........
  3. NOw I done it............. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?135436-Where-is-Spring&p=1034402#post1034402
  4. Storage should be either completely filled with TREATED gas or completely empty. Both will work. Since my gen is now only run once every couple of years, if the power goes out, I store it empty since even treated gas will not last that long. I would store it with the cap loose or even off with a rag or screen over the hole to keep critters and dirt out. If you have a way it would be good to vent the fumes out of the tank before you bring it in the house. I would also do an oil change before you store it. My next gen will be either diesel or propane powered since they both can be stored nearly forever with no fuel issues. I have even considered putting a propane conversion kit on my current gen.
  5. Well I have good news and bad news, I guess it all depends on your viewpoint. On Sunday I took the snow brush out of my truck and packed away all of the ice choppers and snow shovels for their summer nap............ Now I get to start going thru my SNOW withdrawals. There is always the possibility that I may have a few relapses....................
  6. I have not owned a LED specific head light YET. But I have been around some that were. The lights designed to be LED are really great.
  7. Dealing with icy roads is simple for the computer, when big brother recommends staying home, the car will do just that. It will sit in the garage and not move until big brother says it is ok to.
  8. I had a steering lockup on the interstate, it turned out to be a broken front fender. The wind pushed it back till it hit the frame.
  9. Is this possible? Yes very. Is this likely? Oh Yea. Will it happen in my lifetime? nope. There are some hugely big issues that need to be addressed that will take enormous amounts of time and money to make happen. The electrical grid can not handle any more than about 5% of households with ONE electric car. and then they would need to be evenly spread out. It will take a massive amount of time and money to upgrade the entire electrical infrastructure of the whole world.
  10. Except those were all from 2 to 4 years ago, It was just last week they said no more real gas.
  11. If your car is flex fuel, that it has the sensor, You need a good code reader to access it via the OBDII port.
  12. I think these sisters missed their calling by wanting to get into singing.
  13. You need to do the UV oil leak search while it is still hot from the ride. If you wait a day the oil can drain off the area of the leak enough that there will not be enough dye left at the leak to be visible under the UV light. Now you need to go out for ANOTHER ride and more pics...................
  14. That oil warning light is only an oil level. the bike does NOT monitor oil pressure. Under very hard acceleration it is common for the oil to all slosh to the back of the engine and the oil level at the sensor gets low enough to turn on the warning light. That oil light coming on does NOT mean that oil flow or pressure to the engine has been compromised.
  15. There are a lot of us that have been force fed ethanol for a long time now. Yes you will notice a drop in MPG. Yes you will have a drop in performance. Yes you will have cab issues if you do not stay on top of things. Yes you are more likely to have tank rust issues if you leave the tank low for long periods of time. With all that said. I have had to use ethanol gas almost exclusively for the last ten years in my Venture. I add an oz seafoam to every tank of gas. I have yet to have to pull the carbs in 10 years. When I will have the bike sit for a long time It gets a heavy dose of seafoam and some Stabil with the tank filled right to the very top. I will do that winter fill with ethanol free if I can get my hands on it. When I am traveling I will fill with ethanol free any time I can. But that is in reality rare. Over the winter they have bumped up the local gas from 10% to 15% ethanol, I am not sure what that will do to me this summer. I noticed it on my truck that the MPGs dropped a bit. Since my truck is a flex fuel that can take up to 85% ethanol, it as a device that measures the ethanol content of the fuel so that it knows what it is being fed and knows how much fuel to dump in. My engine scanner can access that sensor to tell me the ethanol content of what is in my truck.
  16. Now there is a thought......... Snow at MD, THAT would be something new.
  17. Do the markings on the floor glow green, that would tell if it is new oil or old. If it is leaking that much, it should not be that hard to find.
  18. Any of the solutions for removing graffiti. What ever you use, test it on a hidden area first to be sure that it will only remove the pin stripe paint and not all the paint.
  19. Just for grins. Point your UV flashlight at the oil sight glass and/or look into the oil fill hole to be sure that the dye is really mixed and doing its thing. Is it possible that you no longer have a leak but there is still oil that leaked before still finding its way out of the nooks and crannies? I agree with @cowpuc, more open road testing and picture taking is required. Jump on that thing and head somewhere.
  20. You don't want what my renewal bill was.......... @cowpuc, you think double secret probation is bad. I can even count how many levels deep I am in.
  21. A headlight designed to be LED will almost always way out perform stuffing a LED bulb into a Halogen housing. There are very few cases of stuffing a LED bulb in a halogen housing that will still have a proper beam pattern.
  22. A bunch of yeas back I went handgun small game hunting with a NRA Handgun Instructor, He was the one that ended up in the ER after shooting himself in the foot, with a handgun......... Since he ended up being OK after the healing, he will NEVER hear the end of it either.......
  23. But that 08 has sub MOA capability, should be able to find the pieces just fine. I guess I will just have to use the 10" MKII, Unless of course I manage to aquire my 50AE Desert Eagle by then................... Back to breaking things........................
  24. Awwww Mannnnn, and I just sold my hand howitzer. If I shatter the target then it is guaranteed that everyone else will miss.
  25. Since the hot light never came on, and the cooling fan was cycling on and off, it sounds like the bike was just fine. Put the temp probe of your temp gauge into boiling water (Distilled if you have it). It should read 212°F or 100°C.
