Aftermarket goodies for 1986 Venture
Flyinfool replied to 78stewburner's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Supposedly you can still buy an Owners Manual http://www.yamahapubs.com/index.do?pg=search&category=3 The service manual is available in the technical section of VentureRider.org as a PDF. I'm still hunting for a drivers backrest for my '88. -
Those are traffic monitor cameras, not red light cameras, the video quality is way to low to get a license plate from. Red light cameras do not shoot video, they shoot stills. Those cars would all have run the light and crashed whether the camera was there or not. They simply were not paying attention. I do not see that as an argument for red light cameras. I do not have a big problem with a PROPERLY implemented red light camera, way to many cities change the light to a short yellow to use the cam as a cash generator.

Well I certainly hope you both make it. Even though it is local for me, there is no way I will have the bike back together by then, so we will be caging it.

Dang, it missed us again.....

Based on those pics of the back side, each side of LEDs are wired separate so they can indeed be used as turn signals. BUT, Since we always ride a MC with the headlight on, will you even see the LEDs through the glare of the main bulb? I think that these may be more for cages where you will be able to see the LEDs when the headlight is off.

I think it is a disassociated fragistat.

Its gettin closer, I sure could use some new riding duds.

Since it does not seem to matter to anyone else, I am picking Saturday March 12 at 1:00 pm for the M&E. That still gives everyone interested 2 weeks to make plans. PLEASE RSVP so that I can let the place know how many of us to expect. Yes everyone can come, they said that they LIKE rowdy groups. It will be at the Final Approach, 4959 South Howell Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53207 (414) 744-7060. Easy freeway access. If you look for it on Google Earth, yes that is an airplane mounted on the roof. I hope to see a bunch of you there.

Lets just say there will be NO excuse for not seeing me. 1500 was not a typo. -
It is really easy to duplicate that pattern. Just tape a flexible ruler to the other side of the shield to use as a guide and get out your black fine point sharpie and.............

I have bought a lot of stuff from Superbrightleds.com, they are a good company to deal with. That is where I got the led stripd for lighting up the reflector on my trunk. I just found a new place (in china) that has super cheap prices on LEDs. SatisLED.com and Satistronics.com they are two divisions in the same company. Prices are roughly half of anywhere else that I found. They are only good if you are not in a big hurry. Unless you are willing to pay more for faster shipping, their standard shipping claims 5-20 business days to the USA, and the shipper uses all of it. Here is the link for the 5 meter long LED strips that I got Select your color and then select the black background. I just ordered another 1500 LEDs (Some discreet LEDs and some strips) from them, mostly for my scoot..... -
Whats with all of these posts lately to prove to us just how old we all are..... Yes I did well on the dang test.... drat, I was hoping to fail so that I would be young.....

I will be in FW acting as the designated pilot for the Marquette U engineering team. I will be flying their entry into a competition to see who can engineer a radio control airplane to lift the most weight. For safety reasons the teams are allowed to bring in an experienced pilot. They do not want 50 lb airplanes flying around out of control.

Yup, it is now official, I will be in Fort worth TX on March 18-20. I am open to any other Saturday. What works for you gals & guys?

Something else to consider from another thread. One of the filter manufacturers states that even though the auto filter is dimensionally identical to the MC filter the innards are different as most MC require a freer flowing filter than a car due to weaker oil pumps on bikes. My theory is that even premium oil and filters are still a lot cheaper than new engines. I got mine from NAPA, (The yami stealer also did not stock it) I just went in and asked for the filter for my bike. They had to order it but it was there the next day. I got 2 so I have one on the shelf ready for when it is needed so then I am not rushed to find one. when I put this one on I will order another for next time.

starter
Flyinfool replied to titansedriver's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I am never a fan of throwing parts / cash at a problem to hope for the best. You need to find out exactly what the problem really is. I once had an issue where the Bendix in the flywheel was causing the starter to keep turning with the engine. It was nothing electrical. Start by checking for voltage at the starter and work your way back toward the battery. If it nothing electrical, then it might be a mechanical problem. -
Well ifin they closed up, you either exceeded their capacity to ship in supplies or you have been lax in your visit schedule. Shame on you....

Bolts are driving me nuts!
Flyinfool replied to VentureT's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Be careful changing bolts to stainless. for non critical cosmetic stuff SS is fine, but stainless steel hardware does not have nearly as much strength as steel hardware. For instance grade 8.8 steel screws have a tensile strength of 116,000psi with a minimum hardness of Rockwell C22 and is the metric equivalent of the SAE Grade 5. This is the cheap metric cap screws here. Stainless steel metric cap screws are rated for a tensile strength of 101,000psi and are not rated for hardness. -
Her is the fixed link, yours had some extra spaces added in there. [ame=http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360312860314&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT]eBay Item # 360312860314[/ame] They look interesting, and I just started building my trailer.

OK, I have found a nice place for the M&E. It will be at the Final Approach, 4959 South Howell Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53207 (414) 744-7060. Easy freeway access. If you look for it on Google Earth, yes that is an airplane mounted on the roof. Saturday around lunch will be a great time. Now we just need to decide which Saturday would be good for the most of us. I was shooting for some time in March. The 19th might be bad for me, I might have to go to Texas that weekend.

I'm 6'1" and 245, my doc says to not change a thing, I am the healthiest person he ever met. I have not had so much as a cold in over 30 years, and all of my tests are always perfect. My doc says that the BMI indexes are BS, it would have a country full of anorexics running around. The "charts" say I should be 185, Doc says If I get anywhere near that he will then be worried about me. His test for obesity, If you can do 30 sit-ups and 30 push-ups, your fine as is.

Look at it this way, maybe you used up all of your bad luck and only have the good luck left for the lotto tickets.
