Now if you were noticing what was coming out the back of the mustang, does that not mean that you were BEHIND him???? Just askin......

Green puddles are unacceptable to me. Antifreeze is both delicious and toxic for my dog. Not to mention that it is not doing the environment any good either. I think my next trick will be to add some florescent dye to the radiator and then get out the black light to look for the green stain. It bothers me when things are not quite right.

I did something similar with the latching relay setup but I used the side stand switch to trigger it. Makes it impossible to forget to turn on the light in the daytime.

Yes they do. They are not set up with power for playing, (probably the lawyers fault) but they are set up on display.

I just learned of another bonus for anyone that makes it to this M&E. There will be a parking lot sale going on at Harbor Freight, only about a mile from the restaurant. They are still calling for a high of 38 on Sat. With a chance of showers...

I'm not sure if she is a good dog or a bad dog
Flyinfool replied to Flyinfool's topic in Watering Hole
Well I took her in to see the vet cuz I just did not like the way her injuries were healing. The vet said I did an excellent job of treating the wound and recommended against stitches. He said this is more like a long puncture wound that needs to hear from the inside out because the tendons are exposed. He said that stitching it up would run a very high risk of infection, and an infection around the tendons is very hard to clear up. So he gave me some antibiotics and some anti inflammatory drugs to help make sue it heals with no issues, and told me to keep doing what I have been doing so far. Spingers just do not like it at all when they are not allowed to be going 100 mph all the time. -
My 1st gen IS my little around town cruiser / errand runner. I do not regret getting rid of any of the smaller bikes that I have ever had. I can no longer even conceive of ever owning anything smaller again.

I don't know about way up nort, but I thought that in the USA you had to be able to read, speak, and understand English to get a CDL. (Except in IL where it just takes an extra cnote attached to the application:whistling:)

A high pressure air blast does the trick quite well also. the air delivery is not measured in CFM but in CFS (cibic feet per SECOND). This system will seat a car tire that has been squished to where the beads are touching.

antenna rapair and a ??
Flyinfool replied to painterman67's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Having a bad SWR will not harm anything as long as you only listen. It is transmitting with a bad SWR that will do damage. Unless you are co-phasing antennas the length of the coax does not matter, and then they must simply be equal. -
Even UGLY pics are better than no pics at all....

Since it is on a 2nd gen there is no reserve lighting unit to have to mess with. When you say it did not work. Did it just not come on at all when you turned on the key? Did it go out while you were riding? Did it go out when you started the engine? Did you try turning it off and then back on?

I tried to work on #5. Ran the bike till the cooling fan came on, continued to run it till the cooling fan shut off, and then shut the bike down. You guessed it, it didn't leak a drop while I was there looking for the leak. The last time I rode it last fall, it left a 2 foot by 4 foot puddle of AF on the floor.

Well I started the bike up and watched it run as it warmed up. I ran it till the cooling fan came on, brought the temp back down to where the fan shut off and then I turned off the bike. All the while looking at the piles of snow, and ice glazed streets preventing me from taking a quick spin around the block. And what gets me really P.O.ed is that there was no antifreeze leaking while I was looking. Nope, not a drop. The last time I rode it, after I parked it, there was a puddle of AF that was about 2 feet wide by 4 feet long. ARRRrrrgggg.......

Since the fork tubes are at an angle, is the 5.5 inches at the front, back, or middle?

Actually by putting the switch on the ground side of the relay you have increased the potential for a short to ground since more wires will be hot all of the time whether the switch is on or off. If you are using a lighted switch, you then have to run another unswitched power wire for the light again increasing your chances for a short somewhere. Electrically there is no difference as to whether the switch is located on the power side or the ground side of the load. It is still switching the same amps and volts. As far as the voltage drop across the switch contacts, the relay is nothing more than a switch that is moved by a magnet instead of your finger and has the same voltage drop issues. I like Dingy's diagram as the best way to do it if the switch is going on the handle bars since it allows you to have a tiny switch and thin wires to hide. If you are using the switch with no relay you have to run a big enough switch to handle the power and you have to run the big heavy wires for all parts of the circuit. So to answer your original question. A relay is not necessary but is more convenient.

Help-valve shim tool
Flyinfool replied to dug050's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I still have everything BUT the wire EDM in my basement. Know where I can get a wire EDM, cheap, one that can be carried down the basement steps? Its almost too late now, I just have one of the flats of the HEX left to machine. Then slice it up and machine the lobes. Then heat treat. This whole thing would be a LOT quicker if I had access to a CNC mill. -

But I do not have an EDM in my basement, I do have a mill. Once I finish machining on this bar, then I will slice it up into 18-20 tools. No it is not the easiest way to do it, but ya gots to work with what ya gots. -
Looks good. I'm sure glad that my other half does not know about this site.....
