  1. Well I am making progress. #4 HF Trailer is bought and the frame and coupler assembled. acquired the car topper to go on it. #5 is done. It was only a bad Radiator cap. #6 is done (I HOPE), Aired up the tire last fall and it has lost only 10lbs over the winter, so I guess it fixed its self. #8 Started my spring maintenance. #11 Got a good start, the receiver part is all welded up. just have to make the part to attach it to the bike. #12 finished the first phase of making the tools. Working on the fixture to cut the ramps. I hope to have the bike out on the road sometime in the next two weeks. IF it ever stops snowing........
  2. Well for now I went with the HF trailer. Got the frame all bolted together and squared up in the basement. Hauled it up the steps and outside. Now I just need to attach the running gear and the base trailer will be done. I am still debating if I should weld all of the joints in the frame. After it was all bolted up it was just a tad out of square and I was able to knock it back square with a 2lb dead blow hammer. Or once I bolt down the plywood floor that will also hold it square. I have removed the extra leaf from both springs and changed the alignment pin to be able to flip the axle. it takes 2 minutes to change the pins back for a bottom axle if I decide that there is not enough tire clearance in the fenders. I also started to give my car topper that is going onto this trailer a good looking over. This is the one that I got free for the hauling and the PO had it in a dark yard buried under 3 feet of snow, so I did not bother to look it over very well when I got it. Now that I have looked it over there is a heavy abrasion on the top rear corner that has worn through in one spot. I am planning to scuff up the inside real good and lay up some fiberglass cloth over the area. that should bring it back to being water tight and a sound structure. There are 2 lock assemblies but no keys, so I pulled one out to take to a locksmith to get some keys made. There is a number on the lock so he should be able to make keys from that. If not it might be cheaper to just get new locks. The bottom of this topper appears to be in good shape with a little bit of Swiss cheesing around the mounting areas. I will use the existing holes some how for mounting it. the bottom is also quite flimsy so I will have to use a thicker ply base on the trailer than I had originally planned for. I will be using a 1/2 or 5/8 thick pressure treated plywood for the base. I will be adding an extended rear bumper so that I can stand it up on end against a wall for storage. I'm still debating what lighting I want to put on it. I want to change over to all LED but have not yet decided which ones, or if I should just put LED bulbs into the existing fixtures. I have time to work on this part.
  3. I am getting there. I now have a 10 inch long chunk of steel with the correct profile. I will cut that up into pieces and then just have to mill in the 2 ramps. I am working on the fixture to do the ramps now. This has turned into quite a project 85% of the original bar of steel is now chips on the floor. That is a lot of time spent cutting metal. I also now have a good size pile of worn out cutters. BUT it has been fun so that makes it worth it. In between working on this, I am also working on getting the bike ready for riding and traveling this summer.
  4. Just replace your bad thermostat with a good one. The engine is designed to run at a specific temp which is maintained by the t'stat. It is OK to run with no t'stat for a roadside repair. running at the wrong temp will reduce engine life, and/or performance, and/or gas mileage.
  5. I agree with finding out what the insurance the neighbor and the building owner have. There is most likely a clause in your lease that the building owner is not responsible for the contents. I agree with washing it first to see what will come off. Do it soon. The longer it sits the harder it is to get off. Be carefull while washing the smoke off, depending on what was burning the smoke residu can be very abrasive and you could end up scratching the heck out of everything. Even though your unit did not get hot enough to melt anything, I may have still been quite warm in there. The heat can bake on the smoke. Worst case should be a new wind screen an having to buff all of the paint and chrome. Good luck
  6. No I didn't. It wern't me, Really.........
  7. But would that be adaptable for a driver controlled passenger only ejector seat????
  8. So much for your average trip speed.
  9. I think this calls for pics. It is not often we get to see one of these hotties nekid while being worked on.
  10. Are they sure the dog was not just waiting for the deer to grow up enough to be a full meal? Just wondering..........
  11. Even though he is "old enough" isn't it still good to have him home safe and sound. Tell him he will eventually thaw out, but shoveling some snow would help........
  12. I will be installing a second Bad Boy air horn for this summer. One is good, so 2 must be better. I will now have one on each side of the bike. If I can get the ambition and the budget to align, I still want to install a set of real train horns. Makes the Stebel and Bad Boy air horns sound wimpy.. To get the train horns I will have to sacrifice one of the side bags to hold the air tank and compressor. I wish it were legal to mount a strobe light, like the ones on a school bus, on a flag pole off the back.
  13. LEDs are cheap. Put in your own LEDs before you put the lens back on. Then if you can peel off the other reflectors you can light them up to, for cheap.
  14. Some of you guys just have all of the luck..... Yup, same here, after the weekend of rain, the roads were nice and clean to get the bike out. Now everything is ice and salt again.
  15. Did the shop take it for a ride to over 40mph?
  16. For those that have never experienced thunder snow... It is really different. because the visibility is near zero with the heavy snow coming down when the lightning flashes, you can not tell what direction it came from, everything just lights up with a bluish white flash. Followed closely by thunder that sounds more like a loud POOF that the normal rolling thunder sound. Because the snow attenuates both the flash and the thunder, if you see and/or hear it, it was close. I think it is cool.
  17. Well Dan could always hook it up to the back of the trailer and pull it out there........ That way it will arrive well used. Then we will find just how good Dan is at backing up that rig........
  18. Is this same tool appropriate for doing the seals on a 1st gen to?
  19. That same storm deposited 17 inches of thunder snow here in WI. They even predicted the thunder snow.
  20. Who says we are at the top of the food chain? Most of us just think we are.
  21. You probably sprained a finger or two typing all of that. What is scary is that I think I understood what you said. Thanks
  22. I could see that happening without him even knowing it is there. Every time we get wind over 20 mph my can like that blows over. If it should happen to blow over and catch on the ball.........
  23. How long before someone comes up with "a little magnification" that will achieve sub 1 meter resolution on the moon to see what the remains of the lunar lander looks like? I feel like I have been mooned.....:moon::moon:
  24. Hey that looks pretty good. How do I print some of those????
  25. A rocker is the curved patch either under or over your main club patch that identifies things like where you are from. By displaying a location the 1%'ers look at it as you are claiming turf and that is not a good thing to do around them.
