  1. That's to bad, I even had my BFH packed to help.
  2. To something dry it is true that the air can have a heating effect on the object. BUT since skin is moist and when you are warm you do (should) perspire to add more moisture, it is the evaporation of that moisture that will lower the skin temperature to well below the air temp. It is a phenomenon that us in the north know all to well as wind chill. If the air temp is a LOT higher than body temp then you are correct that it would be best to insulate yourself from the heat. Up to 100°F it is best to get more air flow to the skin to cool it. I am not sure what the cutoff temp would be between better airflow and insulate from the heat. A lot of that number will be dependent on the individual and the current humidity. If it is over 100°F I ain't going out side except to run from one air conditioner to the next. For me personally, I am very susceptible to heat stroke. So I just avoid heat whenever possible. For me 95°F the bike gets parked and I use a vehicle with AC. Everyone's heat threshold will be different. I am watching this thread with great interest, I need cool Gear when the temp hits 70°F.
  3. Not yet till I get this first one tested and then make up the rest of the bar to see how many good ones I actually get. If I sold them for what it really cost me to make them I would be right up there with the genuine Yami tool. But that was not my goal. I think you are right, I will probably sell the ones I have at a loss just to recoup some of the cost. It was very labor intensive since I do not have access to CNC in my basement. But I did have fun doing it and that was what was important to me. I knew going in that this was not going make me any money. I do not expect to make money from my hobbies, but is nice when they can also defray some of the cost. For this first one I did not heat treat it. this was a pretty tough hunk of 1045 steel to start with and it may not need heat treat. If it does need heat treat I do have the ability in my basement to do a case hardening on it. Time wise the cam profile on the outside was the hard part, Tool wise it was the hex on the inside that was bad. I wore out some very expensive cutting tools making these. I have shipped the first prototype to RandyR to test. I was not going to make any more till I hear back from him as to how it worked out. Are you coming to the WI MD, I might make up another one or two to bring there for show and tell.
  4. Contact RandyR. He should be getting the first of my new tools to try out in the mail any day now.
  5. You are so rite. I have often said that they are lucky if they can tell you what happened yesterday. I wish I could find a job where I got paid big money to be wrong most of the time. But I still do look at it, the things that they are sometimes usually close on is the temp and the wind direction. In the winter I have had to ride home in several inches of partly cloudy a few times.
  6. But this is the horrorcast that I was looking at. I like yours better. http://i.imwx.com/web/blank.gif Friday Jun 10 http://i.imwx.com/web/blank.gif Project: Lawn Equipment http://i.imwx.com/web/blank.gif http://i.imwx.com/web/common/wxicons/31/11.gif?12122006 Few Showers High 64°F Low 49°F http://i.imwx.com/web/blank.gif Precip: 30% http://i.imwx.com/web/blank.gif http://i.imwx.com/web/blank.gif http://i.imwx.com/web/blank.gif http://i.imwx.com/web/blank.gif Occasional showers possible. 7. BOB You need to get a hold of Freebird quick to get his contact info for the weatherman. I hope it is not to late to get that horrorcast for the weekend fixed.
  8. Good luck It took me a year of searching before I finally one in the classified section here. I was just about to pull the trigger on this idea when I found the genuine Yamaha one I bought.
  9. I sure hope there are no pics of this critter.
  10. How dare you accuse us of all being a bunch of old Hardlys........, Knuckleheads,,,,, Really?
  11. Just bolt a receiver hitch to the back bumper of the RV and go. Scary as it sounds, Ive seen RVs behind P/Us with boats behind the RV flyin down the interstates here in WI. Backing up is a blast. I once had to back up a P/U with 3 trailers chained behind it. That was fun.
  12. Hmmmm....... I don't know if I can leave mamas foot and the dog alone over night. I was figuring she would be ok for a "few" hours on Saturday.
  13. That Lumix is the exact camera that I have. I got it a Best Buy for $10 less than Woot.
  14. I never share my lane with anyone. I make it a point to wander around in MY lane enough that no one will think it is OK to share.
  15. For cut off wheels I use the Tuff-Grind brand. TG uses a different arbor than Dremel and they sell it either just a wheel or a wheel and arbor. Far superior to any cutoff wheel that Dremel makes. I have never in all the years broken one of these in use. They last so long that a quick change is not needed. I get the 2" wheels, they cut faster and last lots longer.
  16. Whatever you do, do not rev the engine at all while the starter is still engaged.
  17. I guess that means I need to start cooking...... Yes they are delicious. My recipe is actually known world wide for its unique flavor Of course these are only for after all riding is done for the day..
  18. One never knows when an opening will pop up......
  19. A bad starter clutch can do this, Mine did on my 88. But on my 88 it also had the hammering noise while cranking which is the normal failure mode of the starter clutch.
  20. Hospitals are one of my red flag zones. It is quite common for someone to be rushing to be with someone that is gravely ill, and their mind is everywhere BUT on their driving.
  21. My Dremel is at least 35 years old and still works like new. Having been into Model aviation since I was 9 believe me it has not had an easy life. I often run it till it is so hot it is hard to hold onto. I don't know if I could survive for long without it.
  22. Well at least wait till after MD. We would hate to have to break-in that new bar without you......
  23. I gotta gits me one O dose der relationship sparkers........
  24. And all of this time I always thought extra virgin meant that you had one more than you needed....... ......... or could handle.
  25. So your sayin I should bring some rum balls next week? For purely medicinal purposes of course.
