Well I finally got a chance to pull the trailer fully loaded on a short trip to the WI MD. The trailer pulled just fine up to 60 mph and then from 60 to 70 had just a hint of fishtailing. I had plenty of tongue weight, I did not weigh it but it was around 50 lbs. I have come to the conclusion that I need to extend the tongue. I checked with harfor freight and I can buy a new tongue for less than I can buy apeice of square tube to make a new tongue. So I am going to get the HF tongue, and use a piece of it to make the extension. This way all of my accessories that mount to the tongue will still fit correctly. The only drawback is that the tongue is back-ordered till 7-15-11.

Well I sure hope the weather is better tomorrow morning. Even though it does not show on radar, there is heavy fog and rain right now. I chickened out. I never did like rain and I have never pulled a trailer. Add in some fog and it overwhelmed my sense of safety. I am hoping for better weather in the morning. Ok so call me a fair weather rider..........

It is very likely that the semi driver never had a clue that the bike went down since he didn't even know that the bike was there in the first place. I was run off the road by a semi once (along with 3 other cars) and since a number of other cars stopped to render assistance there was one other driver that took off after the semi, but his van could only hit 80 and the semi was still pulling away from him. Fortunately there was a nice soft runoff area right there so no one was hurt and very minimal damage.

Trailer and bike are loaded for the trip. Just need to stop for gas. It looks like there will be a window in the rain for me to sneak up there on Friday night after work. I should be hitting the road around 6-6:30. With all of the construction going on it is a bear escaping Milwaukee on a Friday. It will take at least an hour to hour and a half to break free. Then another 1+ hours to get there. The only kink still in this plan is if I do not like the way the loaded trailer is handling. If it is still wagging with the load and better tongue weight, I'll shift to plan 2 and come up Saturday morning without the trailer.

A bad stator can take out the R/R and a bad R/R can take out a stator. -
Out of curiosity, have you changed any of the lighting to HID or LED. This could cause your symptoms also. But there are fixes.

I don't need much light for setting up camp. I do some of my best work in the dark..... Once I set up my queen size bed in there it won't sleep 8 no mo.

I should know by the end of tonight if I will be heading up on Fri night or Sat morning. Since I am coming from Cudahy, you are kind of on the way. If I do not go up on Friday, maybe I can stop by you Fri night to help brea..... I mean fix things.

Depending on if I get everything done and loaded tonight, I would like to leave here right after work, about 5:30, on Friday night. That will get me there while it is still light out. If things do not work out then I will be heading up there early Saturday morning. Either way I have to be home Saturday night. If I go up on Sat I do not need to bring the trailer, If I go up Fri then I need the trailer for the tent, bed, camping stuff, clothes and misc stuff. I have a huge tent that sleeps 8. What part of Milwaukee are you?

From the angle of the pic, I would think she was a passenger in a car.

Just two TLAs to remember. LED and HID. Both pull less power than incandescent and are brighter at the same time. Don't forget to get some light on the sides of the bike either. You can add a lot of LEDs with very little power draw.

Welllllllll........ I have the trailer finished. BUT. I took it for a test pull behind the truck and all seemed fine up to 90. I could not actually see the trailer but I did not feel anything weird, tires and bearings were cool. So I hooked it up to the bike and ran down to the school to do some slow speed drills in the parking lot. After I got a little used to it being there I headed for the highway. At around 60 it was causing the bike to weave slowly back and forth. Not enough that I felt it could take me down but enough to be a concern. I am not sure if this was just because the trailer was empty, Maybe it just needs more tongue weight. I had the tongue weight at about 20 and the empty trailer is about 200 lbs. Once I add the cooler to the tongue that should help if it is a balance issue.

That is a very different way of getting the rear wheel of than what i have used. I have used the method in the tech section where you remove the front wheel to raise the back end up high enough to drop the wheel without removing anything more than the mufflers on the back end. I'm not sure which way is easier. I may try this one next time just to find out.

I tried this on someone I know and first they could not handle the math, then they could not think of a county that starts with D, then could not come up with an animal that starts with K, but was able to come up with orange. With that much coaching I don't think that this test result is valid.

Ummm...... I'm not sure that your rain gear would fit me. I think I've eaten more ice cream than you have.......... And I would hate to see what my internal pics would look like.......

A dog lover, whose dog was a female and "in heat', agreed to keep her neighbors male dog while the neighbors were on vacation. She had a large house and believed that she could keep the two dogs apart. However, as she was drifting off to sleep she heard awful howling and moaning sounds, rushed downstairs and found the dogs locked together, in obvious pain and unable to disengage , as so frequently happens when dogs mate. Unable to separate them , and perplexed as to what to do next, although it was late, she called the vet, who answered in a very grumpy voice. Having explained the problem to him, the vet said , "Hang up the phone and place it down alongside the dogs. I will then call you back and the noise of the ringing will make the male lose his erection and he will be able to withdraw." "Do you think that will work?" she asked. "It just worked for me, " he replied.

I just changed to YES on the calendar. I don't yet know if I can sneak up Friday after work, or just Saturday morning. Either way I have to be home Saturday night to take care of Erikas foot. This will be a good test trip for my trailer and hitch. I still have not had a chance to pull it, and the weather does not look good to even try taking it to work a couple of times before the weekend. I sure hope that you can get those showers out of the horrorcast. I have no real rain gear. Besides, I already had my shower for this month........

I have used brake cleaner to get oil off of brake pads many times. Clean the pads and rotor thoroughly with lots of brake cleaner. BUT more important is to determine why they got oiled and fix that problem.
