Vibrations when low on fuel?
Flyinfool replied to jfoster's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Is it possible that the fuel pup is weak or dead and you are just running gravity feed. As the fuel level in the tank drops the fuel pressure and flow to the carbs would drop also. -
Tire temp will depend a lot on local conditions. If the air temp is around 100, and the sun is out, asphalt can get to over 150°F. Your tire will pick up that heat. The max temp that most people can keep their hand on for an extended period of time is 125°F. On the other hand, if you are riding 2 up and pulling a trailer and have the bags loaded, you are most likely over the max weight rating of an E3. You may want to experiment with pressure closer to the max pressure from the sidewall of the tire. Tires are rated for the max load at the max pressure. I was using info posted here. I run 42 in the rear, and notice the back end gets a little squirmy when the pressure drops down to the 30's. Lower pressure means more sidewall flexing which will make more heat.

I just went thru it and it worked for me. I could have picked it up at the store a half mile away but nooooo, I had to pick one that was 50 miles away.....

You have to order it and pay for it online, but you do not have it shipped, you have to go to the store to pick it up. They offer this so that you can be sure they have what you are looking for before you drive to the store. I have had a case where I checked online to be sure they had stock, tore a part out of my truck to bring with to compare, got to the store and the guy in front of me in line bought the part I needed. Had I used the buy online with store pickup, i would have got the part and the other guy would have had to begin "the search".

Get some quotes. Sometimes the big guys are less money, and you know they will show up to work, and never ask to be paid up front. Progress payments yes, but not prepayment. After all they did not get to be big by making unhappy customers or ripping people off.

I have the Harbor Freight 5W on my RV. The Rv gets used once or twice a year and that panel is enough to keep the battery happy. I just have the panel laying flat on the roof, so in winter yes it can get covered with snow but the dark color of the panel warms it up as soon as the sun comes out to help clear the snow. This little 5W panel will charge the battery back up if you have a month to wait, I do. I keep the panel hooked up year round.

I have a fried that had his bike fall with the trailer attached and it twisted the tong of the trailer and broke the hitch on the bike. He now uses a swivel. I have a swivel on mine for the same reasons and if I should have the trailer try to flip while going down the road, It can go over and leave me upright. There are pros and cons to this just like anything. You have to decide what your priorities are. I did find a source for a swivel that is made to fit the oddball size of the Harbor Freight tongue. You do have to let me know how your helies and other equipment fair after a ride in the trailer. The other question is, did that bolt breaking save the bike and or trailer from further damage? My guess is that when the bike went down the trailer and bike tried to move vertically till the ball bound in the coupler and that is what snapped the bolt rather than bend the tongue or hitch. Something has to give in that situation.

A whole $28? My last water bill was for over $300 (for 3 months). I can ignore all of the water bills till September before they start asking about it. Any water bills not paid by the end of September get put on your tax bill. So of course if you don't pay your tax bill they take the whole house. I would start by explaining to them the situation. If that does not get results then go to the local media, they love to make bureaucrats look bad.

Oh, Oh!!!!! Now you done it. Just wait till Dan sees this.......... You'll be sorry when you find out that you can not keep up with the "wooden wheels" unless the "wooden wheels" let you.

I put a very powerful neodymium magnet on the bottom of my bike to help trigger some of the older traffic signals. I have pulled at least a dozen screws and nails off of that magnet that I can only assume were looking for my back tire. While knocking on wood I can say I have never had a MC flat. But then on my truck, every tire has multiple plugs and I have never had a plug fail.

It has been about 25 years since I have had a passenger on the bike. Way back then my wife never said much of anything to me about the driving. I think I would welcome if someone were to let me know about something that I might have missed like a deer or car coming from the side. Fortunately I do not miss much of anything in front of me. It may be part of why I never really got into long distance rides, I tend to be fully focused on the road at all times and do not see much scenery at all, just pavement.

Coolant Leak - Spraying all over me!
Flyinfool replied to phertwo's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Yep, Pull it out and fix it right or you will end up undoing your quick fix and then doing it right anyhow. -
Lets start at the beginning. What is the brand and model of the 5 to 4 that you are using? If we know what you have it is easier to figure out.
-
Are you doing this FOR him or TO him? I really need to get a passport one of these days.

Home from trip with no OVERDRIVE
Flyinfool replied to vegastruckee's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If it was already like that, it makes you wonder if someone else has been in there for something once upon a time and stretched it out. I have never seen rings fail like that on their own. -

That pic is of a retaining ring that has been over spread and stretched out. Those tabs at the top should be almost touching. This most often happens when someone gets carried away with the snap ring pliers and over extends the ring or uses a screwdriver to pry the ring out of the groove. You want to open it just barely enough to get it over the shaft. With some luck you might even find the right ring at an auto parts store or even a good hardware store. I think I see another all niter coming..... -
Here's wishing you a purdy white toy and a garage to hide it in.

Unfortunately I agree, cash payments never happened.
