  1. We need night time pics tooooo. Please......
  2. It has been 20+ years since I welded aluminum, I have to see if I remember how to set up my welder and how to do it. Or does this mean that I need to go and get that nice new TIG welder that I have been trying to justify for the last 10 years. Here we go, more tool shopping.......:mo money: ....... so that I have the tools to help me spend more on the bike.........:mo money:
  3. I have done this at a motel and was very well payed for my services.
  4. So now that winter is almost here, and the riding season has or nearly has ended for most of us, what projects do you have planned for the winter? My projects for this winter in no particular order are; Front progressive springs. Service steering head bearings. New tires. Convert driving lights to HID. Lots more lights. Upgrade stator and RR for more power for all of the lights. Replace or add to the two Bad Boys horns with an even louder horn. Build receiver flag mount. Build receiver cooler rack. Clean up some wiring that was done in a hurry last summer. Finish making my version of the valve shim tool. Check my valve clearances. New spark plugs and wires. Carb diaphragms. Center brake light for the trailer. Cooler rack for the trailer. Some of these are not needed right away so will get done on a cash available basis. Dang that is a lot of work. I better get started soon.
  5. Go to ebay and search "film to dvd" there are a lot of places doing this.
  6. I was actually able to ride in to work today, there is a good chance that this will be the last ride of this year.
  7. There is a provision where you can buy a special use permit to be able to drive it to say a paint shop and back. If you are not driving it you should not need to go for gas. There is no restriction on daily use here, just the January restriction. The law also states that you MUST have another vehicle with regular plates to be able to get the collector plates. So the collector vehicle can not be your only or primary vehicle. I have found out that every state has drastically different rules for collector vehicles.
  8. It is too early for me to commit but I am interested.
  9. i'm there
  10. You certainally can not fault someone that is upfront and honest. But it still sucks. Around here I don't think anyone is to busy for any job.
  11. Can even a 1st gen outrun that evil look that only a wife can give?
  12. I have collector plates on the bike since it is 24 years old. Collector is 20-40 years old. By law you can not drive a collector vehicle, in Wisconsin, in the month of January.
  13. If I could get them to stop putting things like rain, snow and freezing rain in the forecast so that I can get the bike out, then I am sure I can find something. They keep putting all of that stuff in the horrorcast but it never happens, but I have to respect it because I do not want to have to risk doing 40 miles on icy roads. At the end of this month the law requires that I park the bike till Feb.
  14. Well dad was accepted into the intense rehab program at the hospital. This is good because it means that they feel that can do something for him. It makes for a busy day for him. there are two 1 hour physical training sessions, two 1 hour occupational training sessions, and two 1 hour speach therapy sessions every day. He gets an hour off for lunch and 2 half hour breaks during the day. by the time he gets done with dinner he is beat. He has a long way to go, although he can move everything on his right side on command he has very little if any coordination of any of the muscles on his right side. He still can only sit in a chair with sides to hold him in or stand with 2 big people to hold him up. His speech is the thing that is improving the fastest, They try to make him talk as much as possible about anything that anyone brings up, just to keep his brain having to do recall and then put it into words. He was able to explain how to cook some of his favorite meals and give directions from the hospital to his favorite restaurants. Anything that we bring up in conversation the therapists will jump on make him talk about. What we can not get him to understand is that even though he has been in the hospital for 2 weeks he has only been in rehab for 2 days. He is very disappointed that in "2 weeks" he has not noticed any improvement in his condition. Us kids are doing all we can to help out Mom. His scheduled release date from the hospital is 1-6-12.
  15. So rent a scoot and buzz on over to her. It is the smallest continent on the planet ya know. If you plan it right you could pick up Annies scoot and drive it over to her, I think she is still waiting for it to finish its trip from the USA.
  16. Probably members here since you posted it but did not bid on it.
  17. Are you sure you turned it far enough. You have to turn it till it stops and then push down on it and turn it a little more before the remove notches line up. If it is the rubber seal that has gotten stuck you can loosen the cap and start the bike and just let it idle till it gets up to temp, the pressure should pop it loose. BUT BE VERY CAREFUL TO HAVE A RAG SECURED OVER IT AND STAY AWAY FROM THAT SIDE OF THE BIKE IN CASE IT LETS GO SUDDENLY WITH BOILING HOT ANTIFREEZE GOING EVERYWHERE. Have a hose ready to clean things up after just in case.
  18. Well if you do drive up here to get it, you will have to go almost right past my house. Let me know and we can turn it into a M&E. I have a camper you can use in case you will need some place to live for a few days for the Warden to cool off before you get back home with a new toy. I have donated vehicles to Rawhide in the past. They seem to be a good place for the kids they help.
  19. +1 for LEDs and batteries. Another issue is that many safes are specifically designed to resist drilling a hole. On others they will be permanently damaged by drilling a hole, some have a layer that is a water jacket to resist a cutting torch. to drill a hole would damage/drain the water jacket or allow air in to start rust formation. If there is a soft door gasket you may be able to use a ribbon wire right thru the normal door opening. Is there a specific reason why they want 110VAC power in there?
  20. Speaking of your friends with Ventures, are they members here yet? They should be.
  21. While you now know that 65K is nothing to worry about you can still act worried to get the price down some.
  22. See I told you Tom would like this........
  23. Not knowing what you have had before, you can not ride this like a V twin, it likes to cruise around 4K rpm, and is not afraid of the red line while accelerating. When you get out on the highway at around 55 in 4th or 5th gear, crack the throttle wide open to see if the clutch is slipping. A slipping clutch is common on these and is a cheap and easy fix. It just needs a new spring unless it has been slipping for a long time, then it may need a whole new clutch. Another known issue is the starter clutch going bad. Sounds like someone with a hammer is inside the engine trying to get out while cranking the engine. Yes we have a permanent fix for that to. And if you get it you must post pics. If there are no pics than it didn't happen or doesn't exist. That's just the rules here .......
  24. I smoked a lot of things in my younger days, but never a brisket. How many papers does it take to wrap around a brisket and how do you keep it lit?....................
  25. If you do determine that it is a bad flasher module I would like to get your old bad module to experiment with to find a way to have proper working LED turn signals AND retain the self canceling AND not need load resistors. I'll pay for the postage. Then I just have hope that it is at least similar to the flasher module on my '88.
