It does not matter how many amps the regulator can handle, The RR can not put out more amps than the stator can put in to it. If the bike askes for more amps than the stator has to give, then the voltage drops down under the 14V needed for charging and you start to pull power from the battery. The regulator only controls the voltage, it is the stator that has to be able to put out the amps. And the actual output will be dependent on what the bike draws. if the bike only asks for 1 amp, then the stator and RR will only output 1 amp regardless of how much more they can do. Putting in a stator that can deliver more amps than the RR can handle, can cause the magic blue electrical smoke to leave the RR. I know that this is one of those things that non electrical people have a hard time getting their heads around, and I ain't the best splainer out here.

Yup same here, it is not my computer that is slow. This is on a high end computer used for doing 3D CAD work. It is the internet connection that is not much faster than dial-up. I start the vid, hit pause till it is done loading, and then you can view it all the way thru.

The picture that they had on that page was the case for a 2 dvd set. So a dvd does exist, now you just have to find one.

There was one time that a group of us went on a short trip from Milwaukee to Oshkosh and we decided to do some bike swapping. I ended up on a Harley ultra and the Ultra owner ended up on my bike. He thought he would make me a convert to Harley. I had a hard time getting mine back from him. He just could not understand how a 20 year old bike could be better than his brand new one. But with all of the bashing he did over the years, his ego will not let him get anything other than another Harley every 2 years.

It has been 20+ years since I welded aluminum, I have to see if I remember how to set up my welder and how to do it. Or does this mean that I need to go and get that nice new TIG welder that I have been trying to justify for the last 10 years. Here we go, more tool shopping.......:mo money: ....... so that I have the tools to help me spend more on the bike.........:mo money:

So now that winter is almost here, and the riding season has or nearly has ended for most of us, what projects do you have planned for the winter? My projects for this winter in no particular order are; Front progressive springs. Service steering head bearings. New tires. Convert driving lights to HID. Lots more lights. Upgrade stator and RR for more power for all of the lights. Replace or add to the two Bad Boys horns with an even louder horn. Build receiver flag mount. Build receiver cooler rack. Clean up some wiring that was done in a hurry last summer. Finish making my version of the valve shim tool. Check my valve clearances. New spark plugs and wires. Carb diaphragms. Center brake light for the trailer. Cooler rack for the trailer. Some of these are not needed right away so will get done on a cash available basis. Dang that is a lot of work. I better get started soon.

I was actually able to ride in to work today, there is a good chance that this will be the last ride of this year.

There is a provision where you can buy a special use permit to be able to drive it to say a paint shop and back. If you are not driving it you should not need to go for gas. There is no restriction on daily use here, just the January restriction. The law also states that you MUST have another vehicle with regular plates to be able to get the collector plates. So the collector vehicle can not be your only or primary vehicle. I have found out that every state has drastically different rules for collector vehicles.

It is too early for me to commit but I am interested.

You certainally can not fault someone that is upfront and honest. But it still sucks. Around here I don't think anyone is to busy for any job.

Can even a 1st gen outrun that evil look that only a wife can give?

I have collector plates on the bike since it is 24 years old. Collector is 20-40 years old. By law you can not drive a collector vehicle, in Wisconsin, in the month of January.

If I could get them to stop putting things like rain, snow and freezing rain in the forecast so that I can get the bike out, then I am sure I can find something. They keep putting all of that stuff in the horrorcast but it never happens, but I have to respect it because I do not want to have to risk doing 40 miles on icy roads. At the end of this month the law requires that I park the bike till Feb.

My Father took a bad fall

Well dad was accepted into the intense rehab program at the hospital. This is good because it means that they feel that can do something for him. It makes for a busy day for him. there are two 1 hour physical training sessions, two 1 hour occupational training sessions, and two 1 hour speach therapy sessions every day. He gets an hour off for lunch and 2 half hour breaks during the day. by the time he gets done with dinner he is beat. He has a long way to go, although he can move everything on his right side on command he has very little if any coordination of any of the muscles on his right side. He still can only sit in a chair with sides to hold him in or stand with 2 big people to hold him up. His speech is the thing that is improving the fastest, They try to make him talk as much as possible about anything that anyone brings up, just to keep his brain having to do recall and then put it into words. He was able to explain how to cook some of his favorite meals and give directions from the hospital to his favorite restaurants. Anything that we bring up in conversation the therapists will jump on make him talk about. What we can not get him to understand is that even though he has been in the hospital for 2 weeks he has only been in rehab for 2 days. He is very disappointed that in "2 weeks" he has not noticed any improvement in his condition. Us kids are doing all we can to help out Mom. His scheduled release date from the hospital is 1-6-12. -
So rent a scoot and buzz on over to her. It is the smallest continent on the planet ya know. If you plan it right you could pick up Annies scoot and drive it over to her, I think she is still waiting for it to finish its trip from the USA.
