  1. I do have mine set up with the flashing red LED from Radio Shack P/N 276-312. It is setup so that the LED is only on when the headlight is off. It is bright enough to be noticeable in daylight. You just need to use a SPDT switch (3 terminal). Fused power goes to the center terminal, The LED goes to one of the outside terminals and the HID goes to the other outside terminal. Very simple and I don't have the extra light to look at at night.
  2. 1st gens dont have to take that torture cuz they cant catch them....... You started it......... Those do look interesting. Expensive, but interesting.
  3. I have two sets of the Bad Boy horns on my '88. I mounted them to the rear crash bars facing forward. They are connected thru a relay using the stock horn button to activate the relay. I started out with just one Bad Boy and added the second one a year later. At first I left the stock horns hooked up but could not hear them at all over the dual Bad Boys (I could still hear them when I had just one Bad Boy) so I took off the stockers and mounted my driving lights there.
  4. I will bring my wiring kit. I doubt that I will have time to get all of my electrical work done before then. I may need help figuring out where all to put the 1,000+ LEDs that I have. I can also bring my Carb tune if anyone wants to do a carb sync. Of course I'll bring some snacks to share.
  5. Fortunately, Wisconsin does not require plates on trailers under 3,000 GVW. YET!!! STOP giving them ideas. It will be interesting to see if I have any issues this summer pulling an unplated trailer thru states that have plates.
  6. LEDs on the trailer will not bother the Flasher on the bike. Incandescents on the trailer can bother some flashers on the bike. Ideal is to have an isolator installed on the bike so that it will never matter what the trailer lights are.
  7. Boy this was a slow developing, and long drawn out fart. I remember your PM from back in October. But I do really like it.
  8. Nice shade of green.......... There is no magic pressures to use, the pressure and mixing will vary by the type of paint AND by the equipment you have. experiment on a piece of scrap, Got any 2nd gen parts laying around?
  9. That could work as long as you start the bike imediatly after turning the key. I still prefer my switch, relay and "hey idiot turn the light on" idiot light.
  10. Yup! That is/was the battery probe fix. You need to get a new resistor and hook it back up or you will have the stupid red light on the dash yelling at you forever. Don't crimp the resistor to the wires, solder it and cover the connections and the resistor with more than one layer of shrink tubing. Should be good to go for another 20 years.
  11. I use the Bars Leak Rear main seal "repair" in my truck. I have to add it every other oil change. With the bars leak the truck uses less than 1 quart of oil between changes. This the oil consumption that it had since the day I bought it new. Without the bars leak it leaks 2 quarts out the rear main seal between changes. Very messy but does help to keep the bottom of the truck from rusting. I know it should not be leaking yet, it only has 300K on it. Someday I'll get real ambitious and replace the rear seal. It does not sound like this would help your problem at all.
  12. Only one sheet? Are you working the wrong muscles at the gym? Or just milking it?
  13. There are pics in this thread somewhere. She was at a MC event somewhere once. also mentioned in this thread.
  14. Glad he stopped. I have used a combination of the weave, hi beam and dual Bad Boys and so far that has always worked. Which helped most I do not know, I also do not want to experiment to find the part that has no effect.
  15. I hope you both feel better soon. I am not looking to point fingers or blame here just trying to learn from others misfortune so that I do not have to learn the same lesson some day. But I have to wonder, What causes a tank slapper to happen in the first place? Is it possible that there was some hidden damage from the tire issue a couple of weeks ago?
  16. I was thinking about painting mine a bright yellow on the plastic and everything else black. I never even thought about the engine, That would look good to be black also. Dang more work to do. As far as the clear coat goes, yes I would use a clear coat, there are flat and semigloss clear coats available for things like the ford mustang that has that flat black panel down the center of the hood. I used a flat automotive clear coat to refinish a wood gun stock, it looks great and is very durable.
  17. I was planning on hitting 294 and 80 on the south side of Chicago around 6 am Friday mornin. I don't know if there was anyone else coming down thru Milwaukee. I might want to meet up with you and your guests Friday mornin especially if I am running alone.
  18. I don't know if there is such a thing as a helmet to fit a 5 month old child.
  19. I used to work as design engineer for a place that designed and manufactured A/C equipment. None of the refrigeration engineers liked R410a or R134a. They both give less cooling per watt of of input power than the R22 and R12 that they replace. So if you convert a car from R12 to R134a it will never get cold like it once did and it will burn more gas to turn the compressor. Same in your house when you go from R22 to R410a (assuming your system can handle it) the amp draw on the compressor will be higher. Thats a lot of CO2 that needs to be offset.
  20. I sure wish it were legal to sell or buy freon in Wisconsin. You need a license here. Even the mail order places all have a note, "Can not be shipped to Wisconsin"
  21. Glad it got sorted out. If you are going to record a phone call, you must make the person on the other end aware that the call is being recorded or it is not admissable in court. That is why so many places you call have the disclaimer that the call will be recorded as part of there answering machine greeting before you even get to talk to a person.
  22. Looks good. Cant wait to see it all together. That's what we use when we need to say something to a 2nd genner.......
  23. at 34 deg the pond monsters might still be hibernating.
  24. I have seen people on airplanes with some kind of a pillow/collar thing to hold their head up while sleeping. Don't know if it would work with a helmet or not. Unless you get an extra tall windshield and or really lower your head, she will get a lot of wind buffeting on her head if she gets high enough to see over your helmet. Besides, do you really want a backseat driver????
  25. I sure hope it goes smoother than Yammer Dans garage did/is....... I would insulate and do wood. Wood is easier to attach things to later on that sheet metal would be. Wood will absorb sound a little better than metal. Wood might rot but steel will rust. These are just my uneducated opinions. I still only wish I had a garage.....
