Assistance needed

Plugged gas tank vent? Small critters have been known to make a home in the ends of the various vent tubes. -
While all of this math is true. The LEDs that come setup for automotive or MC use will light just fine (but less bright) all the way down to about 5V. The 12V LED strips that I use for night flying radio control helies are on a 8.4V battery pack because an 11.1V battery is to bright to look at against a dark night sky. All this meaning, It is not a low voltage issue, you have some bad wiring somewhere. I'll pack my electrical box for MD. I'm sure that if we get enough of us engineer types working on it, we can screw it up thoroughly.

I wonder how that bike handles with the front tire not centered on the axle. So......... That's what I look like all the time............ I just wear my shirt on the outside of the tires..........
-
The mirror would not cause that. MC mirrors are convex, that means that light hitting them will be spread out not concentrated to cause a burn. It may have been some piece of chrome or even the back of the windshield. or possibly something on the building. I would go back to the same spot today and try to find the cause, so you can prevent it from happening again.

Sounds like a good sluthin project for MD. There should be plenty of well lubed minds to put on it........... I'll have my BFH there.....

Its only the 2nd gen riders that are notorious for loose connections. Some even have loose battery connections. Most likely caused by not being fast enough to blow the dirt and water off.
-
Looks like all 2nd gens on the backside and on the front sid the 1st gen is farthest forward.......Figures........ You all be safe and have fun. (Or is that a contradiction)

Welcome to the asylum. We have rules here. If there aint no pics it aint real.

OOOPS.... Clutch slipped!!!
Flyinfool replied to raybear71's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If this is the first time it slipped you should be good with just the spring. If you have an amazing number of miles on it then it could be time for a clutch, but not likely. when you get it apart check the thickness of the new and old spring. If they are the same then you may want to put them both back in to get more spring pressure. I am not familiar with the EBC spring. PCW and Skydoc are the only ones that I am aware of that have a heavier spring. Did you recently do an oil change with a different oil than you had? -
Sure sounds like a loose or bad connection. Follow all of the wires looking for some rubbed insulation or a bad connection. Don't forget about the ground side. Do a lot of wiggling and shaking of the wire harness, it is possible to have a break in a wire inside of the insulation with no visible damage to the outside of the wire. Been there chased that one for days.

'88, 150 miles till the red light, then takes exactly 4 gallons to fill to the top. -

Starter Issues
Flyinfool replied to HotRodYJ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I sounds like you have most of the bases covered. Make sure the starter has a good ground. Even though you did the internal ground mod the starter case still needs a good ground to the engine. If it was off for a long time it is possible that the mating surfaces have some slight corossion. Thats the only other thing I can think of. -
As mentioned, if you get the right LED bulbs they are brighter than incandescent. The load resistors are not an issue since you only use them for the turn signals. If you think about it, how much time does the turn signal spend actually lit up. First the signals are only used when you are turning or changing lanes, and even when they are on they are are really only lit for half of the time. Your electrical system can deal with the extra/normal current draw for those short times while signaling and the bulb is lit. But you are still getting the full benefit of the reduced amp draw all of the time on the running light part of the LED bulb.

It is my place in life I guess. I put out this warning every spring and fall cuz the city folk have no clue about deer. Not that there is anyone that has deer really figured out. Deer are almost as unpredictable as a woman..........

Stator replacement

Is it possible that you knocked a ground loos from the passenger wires. There should be nothing to make noise with the engine not running. -
Yup And with the perpetual election cycle we have here in WI its all of the campaign calls on top of the telemarketers and scammers. NON of which are required to honor the "Do not call" lists. They are even calling my cell phone now, so I have to pay for the call. If one should be so foolish to call when I am just sitting there bored, then it is a challenge to see how long I can keep them on the line. At least then they are not scamming someone else that might actually fall for it.
