  1. I voted from all of my puters.
  2. No. sort of. It will be most noticeable in the higher gears where it is easy to load the motor. It will still happen in the lower gears but acceleration is so quick that it is hard to notice.
  3. ???????????? I thought the bottom crush washer was for the Middle Gear cover on the other side of the bike??????
  4. Unless you are really good, you will want to have a little itty bitty torque wrench handy that will go down to 6 lb/in (IIRC). You would really hate to snap one of those "tiny" screws.
  5. Is this the same bike? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=70960
  6. I am still XP Pro, FireFox, and have not had any of these issues.
  7. I don't have enough hands.......
  8. Flat black also make it very difficult to spot a cracking weld. When I was into stock cars the chassis was painted white or yellow to help spot cracks during weekly inspections. Especially since you said you are not a good welder. The only welding I did on mine was the tongue extension. Once I bolted down the floor the frame can no longer be sprung out of square. I left mine the red that it came in, the more visible the better. Welding the HF trailer can actually cause more problems down the road than bolting it together.
  9. I've heard that ones own foot can be tasty with the right sauce....
  10. When you took off the old filter, did you open the fuel filter to check for crud? If a filter has a lot of crud then some may have gotten thru to the carb. If the filter was real bad you may have a lot of crud in your tank. I agree with what others ave said, Fuel flowing out the overflow can ONLY be float, Float needle, or float needle seat. There is a slim outside chance of a possibility of a cracked carb causing this as well, but that is very unlikely. All of the rest of the stuff in the carb can not make fuel come out the overflow. I have seen gas boiling in a float bowl on a car once, but it was just driven 90 miles on the freeway, with NO coolant and the heads were glowing red hot.....
  11. There are a lot of faulse rumors floating around about the use of Nitrogen in tires. Some of the simple facts. Air is 78% nitrogen already. Nitrogen does not eliminate pressure change with temperature. What nitrogen does do for you is minimal. With DRY nitrogen you are getting no water vapor into the tire, this will slightly reduce the amount of pressure change with temp, We are talking fractions of a PSI here. It is the water vapor that makes the difference. Water vapor can be as much as 3% of air. It is the water vapor that can cause the biggest change in pressure with temp, but there is not much of it there. Since it contains no oxygen it is supposed to help not oxidize the tire from the inside out. While this is true, unless you plan to keep the same tires on your bike for 20-30 years, it wont matter. With the outside exposed to UV rays and air the tire will dry rot from the outside in anyhow. Bottom line is if you already have nitrogen for some other purpose then go ahead and use it in your tires, It is not worth spending any money on getting nitrogen just to fill tires.
  12. MMmmmmm...... Pizza......... Ice Cream.......
  13. The very first time you do it with no help, expect to spend an hour. The second one that you do to help someone else out will be under 30 minutes.
  14. It is either the oil or you need Skydocs clutch spring.
  15. It is also not that uncommon that if you still have the original lines from the master to the slave that the line is inflating like a balloon and using up all of the fluid/pressure sent by the master. Upgrading to SS lines for both clutch and brakes is on my short list of projects. I jst need to decide if I want to delink or not. But that is a different thread.
  16. I'm not laughing, thru the floor is the only way to fix my bathroom issues.
  17. Option 5. tear out the floor and attack from above........ Just trying to help....
  18. I'm still trying to talk someone from this end of the state to come with. Or even someone coming from farther south that will pass thru here.
  19. Just install the anchors in the driveway and then bolt it down when needed, unbolt and put away when not needed. It might be to high up or wobbly off the truck hitch. Not to mention you need room all the way around it.
  20. Thats how I was planing. 80 and 56 are the same road till they split north of Richland center. At least on my map.
  21. If your recorder has the ability, monitor the temperature also, You really don't want hot dogs..... I have seen a pet trailer that had a "snorkel" sticking up out the top front and turned into the wind with a vent low in the back. This gives forced air cooling and fresh air supply from up high si it should have less exhaust content and less engine heat. The trip to MD I did notice that the front of my trailer was very warm, even the parts not in the sun, could have been engine and exhaust heat.
  22. Didn't the HF one have an adapter for MC tires. Since this does up to 16.5 rims and my 1st gen has an 18 inch front...... Not sure what the tire sizes are on a 2nd gen.
  23. I have not done my stator yet but I have had that cover off. The gasket is just baked on. I had a bout half stayed on the cover and the other half stayed on the engine. PITA to clean
  24. HA! New plan already. HY 19 that runs across the north side of Madison will be closed starting on the 25th. The new plan is to take the beltway around the south side of Madison to 14 and west from there. Unless someone has a better idea. So is anyone coming from or thru SE WI?
  25. What Squid is trying to say is that it is not the actual movement of the dogs that is the problem, it is where they finally lay down to sleep and what the tongue weight ends up at from there. If the dogs head to the back of the trailer and your tongue weight goes away, it could cause you to crash. If the dogs go to sleep at the front you may have way to much tongue weight for the bike to carry. With a 6 foot box I would put in partitions to make the dogs stay in the right place for proper balance. When you calculate the tongue length, you do not use the width of the bed, You use the distance from the center of one wheel to the center of the other wheel. the 1.5 times is the minimum tongue length measured from the axle to the center of the ball. Mine is closer to 2 times. On my HF trailer I had to stretch the tongue about 2 feet to get rid of the wagging at freeway speeds. I ordered a new tongue from HF and welded on a chunk of it so that it would match the original tongue. I do have some left if you need some. I found that Rustolium Red was a perfect match to the HF red.
