Shrinkage factors only affects certain individuals.........

With the exception of Illinois, every state has some form of concealed carry permit. The guy fired 6 times and had 2 hits. The last two shots out the door both missed. you can see the sparks as the bullets ricochet off the sidewalk. I wonder what WAS across the street, or driving down the street. I don't know how I would have reacted in a situation like that. My training is that once you fire the first shot you keep shooting till there is no longer a threat. Since the two crooks still had their guns, there was still a threat. But my training also says to be sure of your target and what is beyond. This only happened a few days ago. It will be a month or so before the DA decides whether to press any charges against the old man. I would be curious to learn the outcome. edit http://abcnews.go.com/US/florida-man-71-shoots-alleged-robbers-internet-cafe/story?id=16800859#.UAgQhKCQP8k It appears the old guy may be in the clear.

How much vacuum for cruise pump?
Flyinfool replied to Scott_Nelson's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sure sounds like you might be on to something. I'm watching this because my cruise has been tolerating a lower and lower max speed over the last couple of years. I used to be able to set 80, now the max it will hold is 70. With a trailer max is now 60. -
It appears that the engine and drive line are all good, ignition module carbs wheels tires. I'll bet you can get a lot more than $300 out of it. A lot would depend on what it will cost to get it "home" as to whether it is worth it in the end.

That still does not sound like fun. I'll keep up with the FF curls to change my shape. I was loosing some weight but the GF told me to keep my 6pak abs hidden........ They are well hidden now.....

That is a good thought, there was a good bump, due to road destruction going on, just as I came to a stop. Maybe it caused the side stand to bounce down a little. I'll have to check to see how far the stand needs to move to kill the engine.

Thrush glasspacks installed!
Flyinfool replied to reddevilmedic's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Or better yet take a ride around to this side of the pond so that we can hear them in person. -
On the way into work today I pulled up to a red light. Just as I came to a complete stop the engine quit. It just stopped as if I had turned it off. I was in 1st gear and had the clutch pulled all of the way in. I immediately shifted to neutral and hit the starter and it fired right up and never missed another beat for the rest of the ride in. Engine ran perfect before and after. I know I did not hit the kill switch because my right hand was busy braking for the stop.

A new gasket for both the middle gear cover and the stator cover and don't forget the crush washer for the bottom screw on the middle gear cover. For the wire grommet what I did was to spray the heck out of it with brake cleaner to get all of the oil out of the cloth insulation on the wires. Then pull about an inch of wire thru the grommet and clean all of the oil off of that to. Lots of brake cleaner used. You need to flush ALL of the oil out of the cloth insulation on the wires. Let dry completely. Wont take long. I then work some black RTV into the cloth of the wires and then pull them back to the original location in the grommet then liberally coat around the wires and grommet with more black RTV on both inside and outside of the grommet working it into the cloth insulation. When you are done you only need a fillet of about 1/8 inch. Let it dry at least a full day before putting it back together. When you put it back together use some more black RTV on all sides of the grommet to make sure it seals to the case. Don't forget to put that new crush washer on the bottom screw of the middle gear cover.

If they are fighting over it then you are still eating to much of it and not sharing enough.

Not me, I'll take a good old blizzard with some lake effect snow mixed in over this heat. In the heat I can only take off so much clothing and then I get arrested. I can dress for cold. It got up to 102 at 5:00pm today, By 6:00pm it was down to 76. AAaaaaaahhhhhhhh.......

Yup, getting the old gasket off is the hard part of the job. Watching Skydoc do it, he soaks the new plate for as long as it takes to need it for reassembly. He drops it in oil then starts the job. So it gets about 15 minutes soak time. Only 93 by you. you got it nice and cool down there.

Looks good from this side. When are you going to paint the bike to match?
-
It also depends on the type of ride. If it is just cruising down the interstate or other fairly straight road to get to a destination then 1 and 2 second rule is appropriate. If it is a sightseeing ride just for the fun of it, Out thru the twisties, then a greater following distance is appropriate I have been as much as 5-6 seconds back sometimes even more if appropriate. I also make it a point to keep tabs on the bike in front of me as well as the bike behind me. The most recent ride I was on the lead bikes were very experienced and there was a rider on a new bike behind me. That bike had issues keeping up thru the tighter parts of the road so I held back to keep her in sight, while trying to not loose the leaders.

Self Resetting fan override.
Flyinfool replied to timgray's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That is what I was thinking too. A rattle can of paint for plastics can make that fan any color you want. Don't let Cougar find this post, 3 relays all hooked together, he'll be orgasmic and start drooling on his keyboard and stuff ........ It sounds like you are looking for a way to stop the bike from running at its designed temp. If the fan is cycling on and off in stop and go traffic then it is working correctly and the engine is running at its designed temp. Just like it should. If you have a switch to turn the fan on and keep it on, you will be running the fan a lot more than if you did nothing. right now it runs for 1 out of 3 minutes, you want it to run for 3 out of 3 minutes. this will cause more extended running that stock. -
Now I have to clean my monitor and keyboard.............
-
You can use your laser to measure the angle of the floor that the bike is sitting on. You can then use that angle to find the distance up from the floor that your beam must be aimed to. Make sure the bike is loaded to the normal weights that it is ridden at. If you are normally 2 up, then you want to adjust the headlight with 2 up. I have found that I have to adjust my aim just by adding 40 lbs to the back of the bike.

You can find kits cheap (less expensive?) on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Time-sert-oil-drain-plug-kit-1415A-Volkswagen-Chrysler-M14-x-1-50-Metric-/330762353914?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item4d02f8fcfa&vxp=mtr I am not sure of the size, this is just an example.

4 years is a pretty good while. A heli coil or a timesert or several other brands of thread repair will work. It is not the threads that do the sealing. It is the washer on the plug that does the sealing. So a leak does not mean bad threads. Does the plug still thread in and tighten up? If so then you just need a new sealing washer on it. If you are going to do a repair insert, check the thickness of the pan at the drain hole to see if there is enough thickness for whichever insert you chose. When you drill and tap for the insert, coat the drill and the tap with grease to catch and hold the chips, use a very slow speed. once you are done with all of the metal cutting pour the old drain oil back thru the engine to flush out any chips that may be lurking. Good luck, keep us posted. Rick; Sorry, I know nothing about them there new fangled bikes like yours.

I used to have several Boas and a Python. Went from that to Iguanas. My big Iguana was 5 feet long and weighed around 13 lbs. He used to stand on my shoulders with his back feet and place his fronts on top of my head. I had a harness for him so that I could take him for walks. Some people thought it was cool, some were indifferent, and some went screaming into the night.
