  1. Need to start stocking up. I always get nervous when there are less than a few thousand rounds in the house......
  2. Just don't grease that U-joint any more. In a few years it will stand straight out for you to make things easy to get the shaft back in........
  3. If it is a head gasket that means the coolant is going thru the combustion chamber. Pulling the plugs will tell you which cylinder, it will be the clean one. If it is leaking into the cylinder do NOT start the engine. if there is a puddle of coolant and a different cylinder fires first it can hydro lock and snap a connecting rod. That happened to someone on here not to long ago. Also if it is getting into the cylinder you are probably getting some to leak into the oil, not good for the bearings.
  4. CAUTION, Killer Tweety bird!!! Glad that there is nothing worse than what a hose can fix for you and the bike.
  5. Yup here to. Monday I paid 3.32 for gas and today I paid 4.03. It went up 0.69 in 5 days and it ain't gonna stop going up any time soon. Then on the news this morning the price of OJ is going up because there is a tropical storm SOUTH of Cuba heading west toward southern Mexico, but it MIGHT, MAYBE, POSSIBLY reach Florida?
  6. Good luck in a new career. Talk to some OTR truckers, there are a few on this site, to learn the good the bad and the ugly. I know several CDL holders, they have told me that if you get a CDL, get the hazmat cert also. A driver with a clean driving record, drug free, and a hazmat cert is a very rare bird and highly sought after by the trucking companies. I just read an article that some trucking companies are starting to use hair samples for the drug testing. The current drug testing will only show if you used in the last week, the hair will show if you have used in the last many months. Even if you have been in the same room or just downwind with someone smoking drugs, you can now test positive wether you have used or not.
  7. The battery should have 6 cells did you miss filling one?. If it really only has 5 cells then it is only a 10V battery and will not work on your bike. A picture of what you have would be most helpful here.
  8. Here to we are breaking records for heat and dry for the whole year so far. The only rain we seem to get is if I plan a bike trip.
  9. And if you aregreasing the splins on the hub, it is just 1 more big snapring to get at and grease the pins and bushings. My bike was 19 years old when I got it. The pins were never greased from the factory or till I did it. They were bone dry and rusty. You want to use emery paper to clean up the pins and I used a stainless bore brush (yes for a gun) in a drill to clean the bushings.
  10. Sounds like you better do a good male ware check on your computer.
  11. Can you hear were in the faring the clicking is coming from?
  12. It was not just rumor. The ones I made were out of 1045 steel. The first one did break in half. Not sure if it is because it was to weak or user error. I have since added more metal to the weak area. There has not yet been a chance to try the newest version. I have read about a few of the OEM ones breaking to. That is why everyone that has a shim kit to loan out has the disclaimer that if you break the tool you replace it. I think that even 7075-T6 aluminum will be to soft and may not even last thru one cycle of replacing all of the shims before it wears out on the ramps. Aluminum rubbing on sharp edges of hardened steel does not last long. The cost of the tool is not in the material, it is in the labor and tooling. It would take almost as long for me to make one out of aluminum as it did out of steel. There is actually a lot of force on that poor little tool.
  13. Orlin you may be new to this site but you are far from a rookie at hosting a great event. You should have volunteered to host it sooner......
  14. Here is a whole bunch of info http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=55831
  15. I had an old Garmin that kept flashing a message on the screen that the battery was bad, even after putting in fresh new batteries. I called Garmin to find out what it meant. The guy on the phone said that is to warn that the internal battery that maintains the memory while you are changing batteries has gone bad. He then asked for the serial number and said "hell that is only 8 years old, that battery should last a lot longer than that". They warantied it at no cost other than what I paid to ship mine to them. They were able to retrieve all of my data and tranfer it to a bran new unit, and shipped it back to me next day air at no charge. The new unit had a lot more features than the old one and was a lot faster at figuring out where I was. Is it a wonder all of my GPSs are Garmin?
  16. That is what all of mine look like. I did the leak check and they are not leaking. I was told that that cracking is just cosmetic since there is metal on the inside right there. I used carb cleaner for the check since it is less messy than spraying the engine down with oil. At least I made a clean spot in the process.
  17. Cub cadet is much newer and was designed to handle the crap gas. The first gens wee designed and built prior to the invention of crap gas.
  18. Another first ride???? Sounds like more CRS...... Glad you got out though!
  19. Anyone can get CRS syndrome...... Most just don't admit to it.
  20. Sounds like time for a MSF course...... and a shopping spree..... Lucky you!! I sure wish I could talk mama into at least trying a ride. But I can also respect her valid reasons for fear and don't push it to hard.
  21. Yesterday was a real nice day. When I got home from work I was asked why I was so late, My answer was that the bike needed gas, even though I bought gas the day before. So then there were some letters that had to be postmarked that day so I jumped on the bike for the 1 mile trip to the post office. 3 hours later I got home.......... The house was dark, the boss had gone to bed already. For some reason I needed gas again on the way in to work today......... I don't know how that happens....... I was still getting dirty looks this morning as I was getting ready for work. But I feel so much better. I might just need more gas to get home today........
  22. Next thing you know Eileen will be on this site as a regular......... Don, I think she wants one of her own.........
  23. The ONLY thing that you can predict about deer is that they are unpredictable. Expect to see them 24/7. Expect them to do the unexpected. Well there is one other thing you can predict, how tasty they are on a charcoal grill.........
  24. Physical size determines the tone. If you want it to sound like a semi or a train then you need something that big, There's just no getting around the laws of physics. If you want it to sound like a train..... Might be tricky to mount......
