  1. I suppose that crying in beer may just be its only redeeming value, I can think of only one other good use for the stuff, and that is killing garden slugs.......
  2. With the bike on the lift, and with the bike in gear, can you rotate the tire any more than normal backlash? It could even be that the engine is not running totally smooth and what you are hearing is the wheel bouncing back and forth with the backlash in the system. As you increase the rpm it leaves the resonant frequency of the backlash and so it sounds smooth. Hey at least it is a good sounding WAG.....
  3. You could ask the HID makers if they have an extension cord to relocate the ballast. That way you are not playing with any high voltage wiring. Besides, I'll bet that cutting the high voltage lead to splice in some extra length will void the warranty. HID is the same voltages as a spark plug, my HID is 23,000 Volts. Most test lead wire is rated for 10,000 V. You really don't want to touch that.
  4. You could always hook up the brake light modulator with connectors in such a way that you can easily disconnect it right there in front of the officer and hand it to him and be on your way without it (if he will let you go that easy). I have a friend that had Illegal lights on his P/U truck and he was told to either disable them right now or call for a tow truck. It was not handled like a burned out light because it was something done deliberately to violate the law. He had to get a tow because he could not disable them easily.
  5. I don't see any mice on that bike........
  6. FWIW I think HIDCountry has one of the smallest ballasts. I have 7 of their systems on my various vehicles now. On my truck the ballast will get wet when I drive in the rain. still works fine.
  7. While I don't have that same brand, my HID is the same specs, I love it.
  8. Friday 8-3-12 around 5:30 pm. Caledonia WI Blue 1st gen. Headed south on HY 31 at the 4way stop on 6 mile road. I was headed north. Driver with a bald head....... Anyone we know?
  9. Pinched wire somewhere.
  10. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/A-O-SMITH-FDL1076V1-Motor-Blower/dp/B000CGDPOK]Amazon.com: A.O. SMITH FDL1076V1 Motor,3/4hp,D/D Blower: Home Improvement@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/11vp%2Bc3tyfL.@@AMEPARAM@@11vp%2Bc3tyfL[/ame] This is in stock You may want to spend the extra $20 for a new capacitor. A bad cap can take out a motor, a bad motor can take out a cap. You said your motor was smoking. That is usually either a locked rotor where something was preventing it from turning or a bad cap that could not get it started. The Amazon goes to Zoro Tools, Zoro claims to have both the motor and cap in stock ready to ship. for less than grainger wants for just the motor. You can use the price diff to get next or 2nd day shipping. Since it is coming out of IL it shouldn't take long to get it to you.
  11. This is a very common issue. Depending on mileage, you likely just need to replace the spring. That poor spring is 28 years old. You can get the upgrade spring from Skydoc_17, he will also have the gaskets and if you need them friction discs and steels. The thickness of a new friction disk is 3mm (0.118 inch) and a worn out one is 2.8mm (0.111 inch) the only way to know for sure if you need new is to measure them. If it just started slipping you might be OK, if it has been slipping for a while and you have been ignoring it, you might need a whole clutch. If this is your first time in there, expect it to take about an hour. Once you have done it it takes less than a half hour, unless you have help, then it will take exponentially longer....... You will need a good, small torque wrench that goes down to 6 lb/ft.
  12. Just another good reason to NEVER wash the bike........
  13. It is possible for a filament in the bulb to break and short to where it still lights but just not to the correct circuit. The flasher still knows it aint right.
  14. And even that will still outrun a 2nd gen........... ..............especially going across a farm field........
  15. There is a real good chance there will be some at Dons MD 2013 and the 2013 international, and if there is one, 2013 WI MD, or any other time I get a wild hair...........
  16. Thats OK Dan, We'll take real good care of her. I'll make up a quick batch of RumBalls........
  17. Another job well done.
  18. With the heat that has been around they may just be charging a premium price because they are so busy and working overtime. There has to be a parts supplier near you that you can get a blower motor from and do it yourself. Its not that hard. Go get the model numbers off of your furnace and look it up on the internet. then you will now just how much hide the tech is after. It sounds like you (and everyone in the area) are being taken advantage of just because the heat is unbearable without AC.
  19. That's only a baby. You baby killer. But I'll bet it is nice and tender next to some smashed potatoes and gravy...........
  20. Couple of ideas. 1. The oil level should be no higher than the center of the sight glass when on the center stand and on level ground. 2. The engine and transmission share the same oil system, there is no separation between engine and trany. 3. On the right side where you describe is the reservoir and master cylinder for the rear brake. Are you sure it was not brake fluid leaking?
  21. Now you just need to do the rear brake and then you can say you are ALL done.
  22. Sounds like fun. I might see you at both Dons MD and the International. Sorry bout the trailer though, I was planning on winning that. But since If I win it it will be titled in WI so that means it does not need tags and I would let you use it for your stay. See how that works out.....
  23. The trees here are trying to attract dogs....
