Electrical Issue
Flyinfool replied to B.P.Sr.'s topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The 2nd gens have been known to have issues with the ignition switch. There is a thread here somewhere on how to bypass it in an emergency. You can do this to verify if the switch is the problem. If it is not the problem at this time this will still be good info to have stored in the back of your head for if/when your switch dies on the road. -
ABS brakes on a 1st Gen ???? Tweety Wants them !!
Flyinfool replied to dingy's topic in Watering Hole
Well good luck with this one. I will be watching your progress closely. The only ting I see right off the bat is that you would have to delink the front and rear brakes. But I thought you already did that. Yes testing will be the scarey part. It is one thing to do the testing and calibration in a lab on a brake dyno, but a whole nuther ballgame to do it live on your bike. -
Well Rick I see you are moving up to bigger challenges. First it was a little deer and now a cement truck. Maybe you should have found some smaller steps in between. I hate to see what your next target will be..... I'm sure glad you are in a condition to make jokes about this.

I will take one at $31.50.

1st Gen MKI Driving Light Lens
Flyinfool replied to Rickaroo's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have glued the pieces of a lens back together last till I could get a proper replacement. It worked quite well. I used a foam safe CA glue along with an accelerator, from the local hobby shop. Regular CA glue (ie Super Glue) is closely related (chemically) to Loctite and we all know what that does to plastic....... -
2006 venture dies while running 70-75
Flyinfool replied to slowspecv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You could always try hooking up some temporary test lights to the fuel pump, and any other electrical circuit that you may suspect to see if power is shutting off to something. You can make up a cheap and dirty inductive pickup to put on an ignition wire to see if the spark is going away during a shut down. This should help narrow it down to the system causing the problem. -

Lowering Footpegs
Flyinfool replied to twigg's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have a 29 inseam and still can't use the bags either, my knees are right up to the faring. If you lower the pegs it will reduce your max lean angle, I have scraped the pegs as is. -
So you are saying that the stop and go does as advertised... .....youare stopped and then you go, then you stop and then you go, then you stop and then you go..........

Post Retirement September Trip To Mt. Rushmore
Flyinfool replied to bongobobny's topic in Watering Hole
When you get to the bottom of lake Michigan you could hang a right and follow I94 which will join up with I90 again at Madison. That will take you thru Milwaukee where you can hit the Harley Davidson Museum. And I'll spring for Ice cream If you are around here late enough for me to escape work. If you cant be here that late then at least wave as you go by..... -

[rant] There are handicapped people on motorcycles. Take our own Aussie Annie for instance. She shipps her specially equipped MC over when she come to visit us. I had a case once where I was in a full leg cast in March in Wisconsin winter. I had a temp handicapped tag for my truck. The only time I used it was if the weather was bad and I needed to keep things as dry as possible. There was one time I parked close because there was heavy snow and sleet coming down. Some guy walks up to my truck and starts screaming at me that there is no way a handicapped person can drive a truck like mine. When I got out with my full cast and crutches, his wife began beating him over the head with her purse. You can not tell a handicap from appearances. I know a woman in her late 20s that looks like she could run a marathon. She has a heart condition and can not walk very far. She parks in the handicap spot and then walks into the store and jumps into one of their motorized carts. She gets a lot of strange looks and some rude comments. Just because someone drives a Corvette and is good looking does not mean they are not handicapped. On the other hand there are a lot of people that figure since they have the handicapped plate or tag for a spouse or other relative that they can use it any time for front row parking. A lot of people with motorcycles feel that parking rules do not apply to them. [/rant]

:sign yeah that::sign yeah that: What ever you do, DO NOT CLICK ON THAT LINK. You have been exposed to some bad stuff, it is trying to get you to install the rest of the malware which is then VERY hard to get rid of. Download and run Malwarebytes. It gets rid of most evil things. You may have to go to a clean computer to download it and then run it from a CD or thumb drive. Don Here is the google info that this may be refereing to I wonder if it is just because we have a member with a username that is the same as what google thinks is known bad website?

DOT 5.1 IS compatible with DOT 3 & 4. and does not contain silicone. DOT 5 is NOT compatible with DOT 3 & 4 or possibly the rubber parts of the system and contains silicone. It is easier and safer from a liability standpoint to just say nothing over DOT 4. NAPA carries DOT 5.1, check your local auto parts store or speed shop. You have to check close because some websites list it as DOT 5 but the small print or the container will say DOT 5.1.

I believe it is Yakima that makes a bike rack that will mount on a trailer. I don't know about a tandem though. I can not say I have ever seen a tandem mounted on anything. Did you try going to a local bike shop to see what they have?
