  1. How about miles left in tank. Burned out headlight HI / LO, tail, brake High beam indicator. Oil level. Passenger mute button...... Several trip odos Clock Stopwatch Just trying to think of what all is on the current display that will be gone. User settable rev limiter. Will it have a function to calibrate the spedo and odo? I don't think that it needs to be displayed other than while doing the calibration.
  2. Its obvious. You missed all the levels of state and local government.
  3. Are you going to pack up some of this cold weather to bring with you so that you do not get homesick??
  4. To bad it is only in black. Might look nice in a pearl yellow or pearl orange.
  5. ALL!!!!!
  6. Hey! That sounds like something I would do.......
  7. When talking resistance (and a lot of other things) the K on the back of the number means to add 3 zeros. So 330K means 330,000 ohms. In this case you need a 0.33 ohm resistor. So the ones you have are 10 million times to big. The short answer is no they will not work.
  8. There are some seat mods that can be done to get your feet down lower. Look up Rick Butler. aka the butt butler.
  9. BUT But but..... Your waist size just before delivery:fatsmiley: was still smaller than mine........ And I'm not even close to delivery yet..........
  10. Several years ago my boss tried to get me to fly to Australia in January because the air conditioners that we built were failing. I thought it sounded like fun till I found out that they were failing because the temps were 130-140+F in the shade. The AC units were only designed for a max of 130F. I then explained to my boss that he should go, and I will stay here to figure out what needs to be done and then he can implement the field change. I spent a bunch of time running in and out of a 150F environmental chamber testing the "fix". that was bad enough. I cant imagine being there. I don't do heat well.
  11. When your hot your hot........
  12. While training your body to eat properly you will often start by gaining weight before you start to lose. If you were starving before, then your body will try to store those six meals a day till it learns that food is always coming.
  13. Way back in the olden days when I was at a buddies house and he was helping me build my first stock car. I was welding on the roll cage in one of the top front corners. I could hear everyone laughing. Didn't think anything of it, I was concentrating on making a good weld, it was a critical joint on the roll cage after all. As soon as I finished the weld and flipped up the helmet, I saw flames shooting up from my crotch. 2 Seconds later as I was starting to scramble to climb out of the car window (race cars have the doors welded shut) I was hit with a 5 gallon bucket of water to douse the flames. Fortunately they also had the forethought to have someone turn off the welder first. They all laughed really hard after the bucket of water. Fortunatly for me the only damage don was to the crotch of my jeans:scared:
  14. If the bike still can crank once it shuts down then it is not the battery. If there is enough battery to turn the engine over then there is more than enough to run the bike.
  15. She would die in my house..........
  16. Its warm enough here you could have just ridden down there instead of having to resort to Have fun, wish I could go.
  17. Fist off, dropping a cylinder on these bikes is barely noticeable. They run quite well on 3 cylinders. When it does quit running, how does it die? Does it run rough and sputter out or does it just suddenly turn off? A sudden shut down I would lean toward an electrical issue and sputtering out I would lean toward a fuel delivery issue.
  18. I have looked at this mod before. To bad it will not work on a 1st Gen.
  19. If they charge by the foot for storage, it might be worth while to take the tongue off or make it into a folding tongue. Folding tongues are getting popular on boat trailers so that they will fit in a garage. Just a thought.
  20. There ya go. Giving me ideas again. I need that addition for rush hour traffic or getting thru Chicago. Enter shopping mode..........
  21. It is supposed to 53 with rain hard Friday into Saturday morning here and then the temps are to plummet into the teens for a high by Sunday. If it looks to be getting nice by Sat afternoon maybe I'll have to run out and get that new battery to sneak in a ride. DOH! I almost forgot, I can not legally ride my bike in January here....... I'll be sure to forward this weather on to the east........
  22. Some of my observations. There is no lubrication system, it just uses the oil and grease applied during assembly. There were no actual bearings on the journals, so I am not sure just how many times he will be able to run it. It says that the only machines he had were a lathe and a drill press. I wonder if the drill press was lost in the translation and it was really a milling machine. Many modern diesels have glow plugs to help get them started. I did not see any sign of glow plugs on this engine. Any way you look at it, it is/was a labor of love and should be very proud of his accomplishment.
  23. I drive faster and no one notices the goo.....
  24. Incredible piece of engineering. OPERATIONAL THERE ARE STILL SOME REAL ENGINEERS IN THE WORLD. THIS IS AMAZING..... Watch it all the way through, he machines, assembles and runs this little engine..... This is not CNC technology; this guy made everything at home on his lathe and drill press. Took 1220 hours (a year and a half?) to make the 261 pieces. Note the end-loaded crankshaft into the block (like an Offy), 12 individual cylinder heads, TINY rods and pistons, dual "underhead" cams with pushrods to rockers in the heads. And, he did break-in runs using an electric drill driving the crankshaft! Even if you're not an engineer, you'll appreciate this! http://www.wimp.com/tiniestengine/
  25. $35 for 4 years here. Not sure if there is an old fart discount....
