  1. Depending on the vintage and mileage of your bike....... The one thing that you may want to look at upgrading is the spring on the clutch. They all start to slip after a while and towing may accelerate that. If you do the spring early and don't just let the clutch keep slipping then it is rare to have to replace the whole clutch. Doing just the spring is a fast easy job that is not real expensive. Once you replace the spring with one of the after market ones like what Skydoc sells, it will be good for a very long time.

    Custom tools for my scoot.
  5. What shim do you need? I have a few at home that I could bring on Saturday to exchange. If I remember I will also bring a couple of the tools to the M&E this Saturday.
  6. As to what size fuse it should have. The formula to find out how many amps you will use is, P ÷ E = I . P is power of the lights in watts. (Remember there are 2 lights) E is voltage. 12V I is the Amps that will be drawn. Use the next higher standard size fuse.
  7. OK More questions. Are you using the trailer frame for the ground? Run a separate wire to each light fixture to do the grounding with copper wire not painted steel. But if you are only getting 8.5V going into the converter then it is less likely to be a trailer problem. But, bad grounds on a trailer can cause a lot of weird seemingly unrelated symptoms. As mentioned above, hook up a battery charger and try it again. If that does not fix it, then you may have a bad connection on the bike somewhere.
  8. Thanks for the plug. Here is the thread where these came into being just in case anyone is interested in what went into making these.
  9. I used to have a .50. Sold it when I was desperate for cash. Now I am shopping for another one to replace it. But also considering the S&W50,
  10. Some people pop in and out in just a few seconds. If I have the time to chat I will often start chat and it may be several hours till some one pops in. Some pop in, say "Hi" and are gone if I don't answer in a couple of seconds. I could be doing something on the other side of the house and it might take a couple of minutes to get back to the puter to answer.
  11. First question, Is your converter rated for LEDs? Some are not and will not work correctly with low power draw of LEDs. Do you have a powered converter? If so is the power and ground wires solidly and properly connected? Is the fuse still good? If you have 12V going into the converter and 8.5 coming out, my guess would be a bad converter.
  12. I have already explained what I will and will not eat to the MIL. I still have not found anyone that did not like my cooking. Even when I make something they thought they don't like. As long as they ate it before they found out what it was. I guess either my taste is adequately varied or I've been lucky. No one ever made me anything real scarey, But I aint never going to Iceland......... That food that I have heard of scares me.
  13. But they do make a .50.
  14. Welcome aboard the loony train...... Now.....as long as your here...........
  15. NNOOOoooooo.......... I'll go broke in a heartbeat.........
  16. I guess the thing to help make the decision is some research into the new company. Are they hiering because some one left, or cuz their growing. If it is cuz someone left, WHY did they leave? In other words, how stable and secure is the new place?
  17. :sign yeah that: I do remember reading that one somewhere. It is as good as any of the commercial penetrating oils. So are you saying that your mind is really deep??? Like a bottomless pit?? once something goes in it never comes out???
  18. I'm cleaning again. This is always a dangerous thing. I have a HP Color Laser Jet 2600n printer that I will give free for the taking. I am only replacing it because I needed a color laser printer / fax / copier / scanner. It does still work. It will not be long before it will need a black toner cartridge. Just call to be sure I am home before you come. My number is in my profile. If no one here wants it it will go to some local charity that picks up stuff.
  19. OK I did figure out how to break a tool. I did this on purpose, it is not indicating a flaw. What I did was ti set the tool into position and start turning the cam. Once you get to the point where the buckets are fully compressed the center of the tool will also touch a rib in the head casting. It looks to me that that rib is there just for this purpose. IF you continue to turn the cam past this point, all of the force goes to that narrow spot on the tool and it will snap in half. If the tool did not break at this point and under these conditions, "something" else in the cam train would have to break. Either the chain or one of the sprockets. All of the engine parts that could break cost a LOT more than the tool to replace. So it kind of works out that the tool is the weak sacrificial link to save the engine parts. I could also see this happening if the tool was not centered properly. But I don't want to break another tool to find out.
  20. lonestarmedic is the other guy that was making cables once upon a time. The last I heard (back in 2010) he had bought a bunch of materials for cables but never made them. You may want to contact him to see where he is at.
