I have made dealers write in the contract that there is to be no advertising on the vehicle. I made them put in the contract that I get $10 per day for advertising. They are real good at getting those stickers off if it will make or break a sale.

I have to watch this one. I want to put electric brakes onto my HF trailer as well. I can not just mount brakes on to the HF axle, I will have to make a whole new axle from scratch. But that will also give me standard bearings and seals for future maintenance. I do not like the increased stopping distance required. Especially while trying to survive Chicago traffic every time I want to head south or east. I was going to get all of the parts from R and P Carriages just down the road from you. I was looking at several options for the controller. The one that looked the most promising to me was (I forget the brand offhand) one that had a key fob remote control that could adjust the braking force via wireless remote. I was then going to mount the controller onto the trailer to save wiring and mess on the bike. None of the controllers that I have found are even water resistant, they are all designed to mount inside of a cage. You want to be able to control the controller while riding.

Be very careful with both acetone and brake fluid on these bikes. They will both have any plastic or paint they find for lunch. -
I was there, no one home.......... Oh, wait, that was last night. I'll try again tonight.

Well as long as you in there anyhow......... Might as well toss in a set of rings and bearings. Maybe some new pistons to bump the compression......

I never did cover letters. I have never been out of work for more than a month. I just tailored the resume to the job I was applying for. HR people do not like to read, managers like it even less. I was always taught that anything more than one page will go to the bottom of the pile if you are lucky. I don't know if that is true or not, just what I was told. Unless this was advertised as a temporary position, do not make it look like you are after a temp job till you can go back to your "real" job. If it is a permanent position that could turn into a full time position. Treat it like you really want the job and plan to stay forever.

Another way to mod the HF Tag-A-Long tongue
Flyinfool replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Watering Hole
The riding it up is not the hard part, it is the two 90° turns on the way up. No one ever said a 1st gen handled good in tight slow quarters. But where there is a will there is a way. Dang it anyhow, Now you got me thinking on this one. -
I tried that once with an old washer and dryer that still worked. After they sat for a month with no takers I put a sign on them for $25 each, now that they had value they were gone overnight.

Another way to mod the HF Tag-A-Long tongue

Down is the easy part........... But now that you mention it, maybe next winter I can bring the bike into the basement to tear it down for a repaint. The bike weighs a lot less than any of the machines I have down there..... -
Don, Look at the bright side, At this time last year you were getting out the lawnmower........

Another way to mod the HF Tag-A-Long tongue
Flyinfool replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Watering Hole
The stock tongue is a little short. Too short of a tongue will cause sway at higher speeds. There are a few that have had no sway issues, but most have stretched the tongue for better handling. -
Lucky you! I would love to do that. Is your wife single????

HID upgrade
Flyinfool replied to biker970's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Om the 2nd gen it is pretty much just plug in and ad a power and ground connection. It is recommended to add a switch to be able to turn off the light for starting. Without the switch if the voltage drops to 10V while cranking, there is a protection circuit built into the HID that will turn it off requiring you to shut off the bike and restart. -
Well they say bad luck comes in 3's. You should be good to go now. Get well quick.

Cold Blooded
Flyinfool replied to MasterGuns's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Since you are from TX you must define cold. Some southerners think that 50 is frigid.... My 88 starts just fine down to 0*F (never tried it colder cuz then I don't start). When it is that cold It needs about half choke for the first mile. Warmer weather I can take off the choke as soon as I get moving. -
Tom, You are having an issue. Go eat 3 ice creams, calm down, and call me in the morning.

HID upgrade
Flyinfool replied to biker970's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
A few things 12,000K will be very purple and will not make a lot of light. It is more to look cool. Your best bet is a 4,000K to 6,000K if what you want is light to see at night. 4000 is slightly yellow, similar to a halogen and 6000 is slightly blue. They are both mainly white. I how have 5 HID on my vehicles and they are all 6,000K. . You do not want a Halogen High beam. It defeats the whole purpose of having a bright HID light in the first place. You want to get a BI-Xenon so that you have HID for both hi and low beam. . You must remove or disable the RLU. There is a writeup from an 88 on how to do this, it wont be exact for your 83 but it will be close. If you do not do this mod the RLU wil keep switching between hi and low beam at a very fast rate till it burns something out. It is not hard to do, but it is time consuming. . It is a good idea to have the HID on a separate headlight switch. If you do not have a seperate switch then when you turn the key on the HID will light, as soon as you hit the starter, the HID will go off and then have to relight. The starter switch cuts out the headlight to give full battery power to the starter. All of this is well worth the effort, the difference in light output is huge.
