  1. It is!
  2. I just voted 107.
  3. Ohhhhh the plot thickens........ We need pics.
  4. Nice pics. :crying: But I'm not there......:crying:
  5. I also use Pledge, buy the unscented unless you like a lot of bees flying around your bike.
  6. The 2nd gens just think that all 1st gens have nitrous or v-boost..... The switch could be to turn off the spark to a couple a cylinders so that you can ride WITH a 2nd gen..... That switch is not an OEM switch, follow the wires to see what they are connected to. It could even be for something that is no longer installed on the bike.
  7. You silly boy, I made a practice run part way there on Sunday just to be ready to go and get MY new trailer. Especially since I was so nice as to let another member here snag that Bunkhouse camper that I found last week. I won't need the bunkhouse with the new trailer. Silly boy.......
  8. There is a lot of basic troubleshooting you can do with no need for a dealer. 11.61 to 12.47 even at idle is not good, but by its self is not enough to diagnose the problem. Start by charging the battery fully. Charge at a 2 amp rate. It will take at least overnight. Take out the battery and take it to a store that sells batteries to have it load tested. There are a lot of stores that will do this for free. If the battery is good, put it back in the bike and get a digital volt meter. If you do not have one, you can pick one up at Harbor Freight for under $10. With the meter set on the 20VDC scale check the voltage across the battery with the engine running over 2000 RPM, and let us know what it is. We can take you to the next steps from there. It is still way to soon to be gussing that it is the Regulator, unless you are the type that prefers to throw money at the problem till you hit it....... We can talk you thru almost anything that you need to do with out involving a stealer.
  9. I got to help a member get his new to him trailer set up to pull to Galina. Then got to escort him part way there. Man was it hard to make that u-turn when I was already headed south on I 43. So now I get to look for pics. Whine kick the dog. whine cuz I got bit. go to work. take my honey car shopping. buy her a new car point out the IR would have been a lot cheaper. go to ER for head trama whine go to work look for pics whine show honey pics of where we could have been whine Back to ER. kick the dog again get bit again. whine some more back at work looking for more pics
  10. #6 seems to imply that it is electrical and not fuel related. The fuel flow at moderate RPM in neutral is very low compared to full throttle under load. This seems to be RPM related and not fuel related. I am not sure just how the rev limiter works on a 2nd gen. Does it skip sparks to reduce power, change timing, shut off cylinders, other? Could it be a bad tci, a coil breaking down at higher frequencies? Is it a PITA to swap TCIs from sons RSV? Maybe do a compression test or leak down test to see if maybe you did float a valve like Dingy said. A weak valve spring could have allowed a valve to float even before the rev limiter stopped it. I never heard of that happening to one of these engines, But I have had it happen on other engines. I'm just tossing ideas out here, I am not that familiar with the parts of a 2nd gen that are different from a 1st gen. But I did ride part way toward Galina with a 2nd gen last night.......
  11. I can do video.......
  12. Or sleeping in the grass.......
  13. Has Big Tom been doing burnouts with your bike to delete all of the tread?
  14. A bad battery "usually" will not cause it to die while the RPMs are up. The Stator can put out enough power to run the bike. "Usually" if it dies while riding and the battery is then dead it is a charging system issue. Notice I said "usually", there are scenarios where a bad battery can put enough of a load on the system that the stator can not keep up.
  15. And any lead acid battery is damaged by letting it go flat and then sitting for a while. The battery may have been flat at the dealer while it sat at the dealer for 2 years. You might want to mention that to them, they might have killed it for you. You may want to check the bike to see if something is drawing power when it is parked. I do not have a tender and Mine still starts after sitting out in a cold Wisconsin winter. My last Yuasa battery lasted 6 years.
  16. Well yes there is a lot of info on this site, most of it is even good info. "Interesting" is one of the nicest things I have heard anyone say about this bunch of characters..... Welcome to the loony farm, where you can enter but you can never leave.....
  17. Good luck. I did the LEDs in the reflector and reinstalled the reflector with hot melt glue, figuring that it waould be easy to remove some day if I ever had to. apparently the hot melt glu did not like winter. Riding in to work the first time it got below 20°F, it was gone when I got to work. Got a new one from ebay for a good price that had some scratches, I was able to buff out the scratches so it looked like new. Then I proceeded to drop it on the floor and break it in half. :bang head: I glued the two halves back together using PVC cement, did some buffing on the seam, you now have to look to find the crack. They are a lot less expensive if you find one missing 1 or both of the logos, I no longer have a Venture logo on the reflector.
  18. SeaFoam in the oil will help clean it out. follow instructions on the can.
  19. Yup, check steering bearings. Install brace from Condor. Tire pressure. shock pressure, front and rear
  20. Well so much for short order. It took 6 hours to git her done. Had to rewire every bit of the trailer. Nothing was salvageable. Then spent a couple more hours trouble shooting. wore all of the hair off one side of my head        But finally figured it out. I just hope he makes it to Galina OK in the dark having never pulled a trailer before. He is going thru a lot of deer country. He should be there in about another 1.5 hours 11:30 PM local time. I did give him an escort for the first 20 miles out of town to be sure all was well. My 1st gen did not like when I backed off to follow to see how it was tracking. It looked to have just a hint of a fishtail at around 65MPH.
  21. It sure will look good. But on those warm days it lets you have a lot of extra heat. I notice a huge difference between the vents open and closed.
  22. It don't matter what I'm in, Chicago is scarey. Tell wife she is not alone.
  23. It appears to be. Thanks A new version?
  24. Yup, and everyone is headed to the IR but us........
  25. I think that was aimed at a different thread. Those ball studs can be used to repair missing mounting points on the side panels of a 1st gen.
