  1. SEE!! 74 is already getting unbearably HOT! How can people live in such terrible conditions? Cold I can dress for and be comfortable, Hot, I can only take so much off and then I get arrested.......
  2. In the USA all GM cars have onstar. the police can contact onstar to send a signal to the car that will cause the engine to drop to an idle. this way the driver does not lose steering or power brakes, but the car will go no more than a fast walking speed. onstar can do this whether you have subscribed or not. onstar does not work in most foreign countries. Other car companies are now coming out with their own versions of onstar with similar capabilities. It has already been proven that the system can be hacked to lock or unlock doors, just a matter of time till hackers can start or stop the engine to.
  3. I used one of those manual ones once. All of the pumping required was more work that using a good splitting maul.
  4. YUMMMmmmmmm........ I got my 3 deer for the safety of all riders.
  5. Hmmmmmm........ Benson died flying one of those things. But then. It is still my desire to someday build my own plane or heli for puttering around the sky. The plane would be a Kitfox, the heli would be a Safari.:mo money:
  6. Be very very carefulllll! RC can become very addicting.
  7. These bikes do not really have a "choke". A choke restricts airflow to make the fuel mixture richer. When you close the "choke" on our bikes it has no effect on airflow, It adds more fuel to richen the mixture. So if it runs better with the choke on, then you were probably lean. I agree with Dan, you may have dirt or partly blocked fuel passages, start with a good dose of seafoam. Cold air being denser will have the effect of leaning the engine. You may have just been on the verge of lean when it was warm, now that it is cold you are over the edge.
  8. I leave tomorrow to help thin the heard. Will be starting in Michigan. It is not just the hunters, The rut is still going on and deer are running all over at all times of day. The bucks seem to have a one track mind, and the does do not always agree.........
  9. The WHY is for not if but when the ignition switch fails while on the road. You just want that bypass switch very well hidden so that it is not to easy for someone to take the bike.
  10. Are you planning to trouble shoot the fuel leak using alcohol? That would not be any good for the fuel system components. The fuel system was not designed to handle alcohol. Even the 10% that is in modern gas is not doing these old engines any good. You are best off doing the trouble shooting with fresh gas. Just be very careful about fumes and ignition sources and do this outside just in case. There was just a post very recently of someone that had a fuel leak while riding and the whole bike wet up in flames.
  11. The way the scam works is that they pay thru PP with a stolen credit card. By the time the card company figures it out, and debits PP and PP then pulls the funds back from you. the scammers already have your merchandise and you are out the money and your merchandise. Or the scammers simply file a complaint saying that they never received the item or the item was not as advertised or that it was a counterfeit. PP usually sides with the buyer unless the seller has good proof of everything. The scumbags probably have a lot more ways to cheat you out of your hard earned money that I never even heard or thought of. That is why the payment with postal MO or cashiers check scam has dwindled down, Most people know that a modern scanner and printer can make a pretty convincing copy.
  12. I have been having luck by adding a line near my contact info; "Scammers don't bother, I know all of your tricks" I very rarely get contacted by scammers anymore.
  13. It is not that hard. I think you are trying to mix two unrelated jobs. One being the lights and the other being the ignition switch bypass. Just tackle them one at a time.
  14. I still wish that F4 could be talked into making a shield for the 1st gens. Maybe they only do slow bikes.......
  15. :sign yeah that: Except I have no snowmobiles.
  16. You were not here to hold him on the straight and narrow. IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!!
  17. There are options. 1. Use a switched power source on the control side of the relay, this will have the lights on any time the ignition is on. 2. Add a switch to #1 so that you can have the passing lights on or off at will but they will still turn off with the ignition. 3. Wire the whole light circuit hot to the battery, this will allow lights whether the bike is running or not. BUT this allows you to forget and leave the lights on and a dead battery. All of my vehicles are wired using #2. with the control power coming from the headlight circuit so that the passing lights are only on if the headlight is on. There are still more options depending on what you want.
  18. 14ga sheet metal?? A tank.
  19. Fuses should not get hot. Make sure the the connections are all good. Check not just the fuse to the fuse contacts, but also the wires to the fuse contacts. Bad connections can get hot, fuses should not.
  20. My winterizing consists of taking the key out of the ignition and connecting the float charger, in October I start runing my winter blend of gas so that it is ready to sleep at any time......... Easy to undo.
  21. Check ignition switch, I know that is a problem area on a RSV.
  22. Sure..........
  23. I was 38 the first time. Went into a Ponderosa Steak House for lunch with some coworkers. Clerk asks to see my drivers license. They do not serve alcohol so I asked why? She replies with a straight face, "so I can see if you are old enough for the senior discount"!!! Boy did I get a ration from my coworkers for that.
  24. If your battery is going flat in a week, there is something that is not turning off with the key. You need to be sure that the bike is working right before you replace the battery.
  25. Ahh, a man after my own heart....... I hate chrome too.
