  1. Welcome aboard Rob.... It could be due to PMS. Some of the experts have moved on and taken their wisdom with them. I read most posts but I refrain from smart-ass comments until the issue is solved, If I have no knowledge of the issue I say nothing. Or just why not just ask WHY?
  2. Do gold wings lean to one side from engine torque or did they finger out how to counter it?
  3. Bummer Now I have to try to figure out what I screwed up. TWICE. This only seems to happen when the computer is first booted up. once I have been here if I come back later in the day it works as it should. My bookmark is set to http://www.venturerider.org/forum/search.php?do=getnew. So you are saying that because I have a 1st gen, that I am just to fast for the rest of you to keep up????
  4. Happy Birthday Bubber. You share a birthday with my father who just celebrated his 80th.
  5. Sometimes experience is the best teacher. Or he could end up liking the snow and cold, then you will have to take him out even more.
  6. When I click the "New Posts" button first thing in the morning, I only get the new posts from the last hour. It used to give me all new posts since my last visit. I then have to use the "Todays Posts" to get all of the post from the last 24 hours, but it has them all marked as read. Did something change in the last few weeks or is it me screwed up again. It is doing this on both my home computer and my work computer. :confused24: :confused24: :confused24:
  7. Blizzard?????? More like flurries. That ain't even enough SNOW to justify the gas to run the snow blower. Be careful mentioning blizzard, You could end up with Big Tom on your doorstep with that crazed look in his eyes and a spoon in his hand ....... ........ Along with a hundred others from this site........
  8. Yup we got some SNOW here to. So purdy..... :snow2: :snow2: :snow2: :snow2:
  9. Just a thought here. That gap may be because the PO bought the wrong grips and they were to short. The MKIIs use the longest grips available. I had a hard finding grips long enough when I replaced mine. Maybe hot grips does not make a grip that long so the PO did what he could with them.
  10. With all those welds to make up the manifold, I wonder how clean the airflow is? If it is rough inside, some of that low end might come back by cleaning it up some.
  11. It was just this past summer that I bought by 2011 Silverado, Extended cab, with 4 doors, 8' box, 4x4, 5.3L, K1500 and under 10K miles, and I got it for $22K. They are out there, It took me 4 months of shopping to find this one. Even though it is the same wheel base as the 96 that I had, this newer one has a much tighter turning radius than the old one.
  12. I have access to a piece of software called Scan2CAD. It will take your pencil and paper drawing and turn it into a dxf file which can be imported into almost any 2D cad software to be manipulated, turned into a dwg or exported to CNC. At work I use Inventor for 3D cad and AutoCAD for 2D. The licenses for these allows installation on a desktop and a laptop (you have to ask Autodesk for permission and they always grant it, it is in the fine print of the license). Since at work I have a desktop but no laptop and at home I have a laptop but no desktop I have permission from Autodesk and my work to have it installed at home and at work.
  13. The trick is to never let the bits get that bad. As soon as I notice the first sigh of dulling I either grab another bit or go to the grinder to tough it up. when the job is done I sharpen all of the used bits so they are ready for next time. Letting the bit get very dull will cause heat, heat can take the temper out of the tip of the bit. Once the temper is gone, no amount of sharpening with any type of sharpener will get it to cut well again.
  14. I just traded my '96 GMC and got a '11 Chevy. I went to look at an 08 with 70K but then saw this 11 with 10k for just a couple thou more. Since I am still in WI and spend a lot of time in the MI UP I got 4x4, ext cab 8' box. There are some things I like on the new truck, and some things I just hate.
  15. It is the time of year where the deer are just coming into the rut. This means that they will be more active and even less predictable than at any other time of the year. A buck will attack almost anything that gets between him and the doe he is chasing. The does will run blindly trying to get away from the bucks if they are not yet ready for what he has in mind. There is no more of the "mostly around dawn and dusk" for deer running across a road, expect them at any time of the day or night. All of the flashing lights and loud noises will not get them to stop from running in front of you. It is totally up to you to see and avoid them, and they may be coming fast. Lets all be extra vigilant out there. The Rut typically lasts till mid to late November. Just 12 more days till I head out to start thinning the heard.
  16. What does Mozilla/Netscape 5 have to do with Everclear?
  17. Are you sure it was the backrest that made your pants wet?????
  18. On the 2 root canals that I have had done, one is 20 years old and the other is 10. neither had a crown and are both still there doing their job. Both were molars so they do get a workout. The ripoff dentist that I went to was a large dental clinic, I have had the best experiences at small places where they get to know you because you always see the same person for everything. They do not have a specialist in the building that needs work to do to refer you to.
  19. So that you do not get an infection or blood poisoning later....... I just eat some of everything, that way I know I must be getting enough of the good stuff into me, and I have a few RUM balls or hot sex every day for an antibiotic. Health wise I do everything wrong, BUT, I haven't had a cold or flu in the last 30 years. I have noticed that the "healthier" a person eats and lives, the more often they get ill.
  20. I don't know about lunch but you might get hijacked and find that your trailer is empty when you get home......
  21. Everclear is a brand. I used 190 proof Vodka which is the same thing, 95% alky and 5% water. We have a local ordinance than bans everclear by name, so I get the Ambur Vodka.
  22. The cancel unit is the tricky part. It has 2 functions, one is just a timer that will cancel the turn signals after X seconds (15 I think), its second function is to monitor the speedometer to cancel the turn signals after 400 feet. The turn signal will not cancel until both the timer and the distance are satisfied. The start relay and the flasher are easy to replace, It is the cancel part that you may have to build a small pic board for.
  23. One other thing to consider. Since you are coming off of a V twin, especially if that v twin was an HD. These engines like to rev. If you drive it like you would a v twin you will be sure that something is wrong. Mine likes to cruise around 3500 to 4000. Under 3000 rpm it is a real dog. Does not even start to make good power till around 5000. Do not be afraid to hit red line, that ain't hurting nothing on this motor, just do not miss your shift.
  24. My first thought is that if there is not and has not been any pain, that the decay is not down to the nerve. I have had 2 root canals done but I was in extreme pain both times and it really was necessary. I had a dentist once that would do unnecessary work just to get the bill up because he only made about $10 on a filling. He makes over $100 on a root canal or extraction. It might be worth a second opinion.
  25. The organized part is easy. If you have it they will come. So since you said in the spring, in MN, that would mean July? Try not to plan it to close to other events, like Dons MD or the WI MD.
