  1. Do a google search for dash cams. There is a lot of info available and a lot of choices in cameras that will do what you want. Another option might be to use a game tracker camera made for hunting. some of those will do what you want also.
  2. Just be sure not to tell them that......
  3. Around here, the only way to get into a place is through the head hunters, as a temp to direct. You will start as a temp for the first 90 days or so and then if you are doing a good job you will get a permanent job offer from the company you are working at. If you are not doing a good job, then the company can let you go with no strings attached. I'm in the same boat as you to a degree, I do not have a degree but have been working as an engineer for the last 36 years. I have found that smaller companies are less impressed by a degree than they are by ability and experience. Most of the companies that I have worked for are small enough to not have an HR department. Where I am at now I am the whole engineering dept.

    Why?

Cuz you gotta git up to pee is why......
  5. I guess I will have to tent it and fend off the pond monsters with rum balls......
  6. I hope their superintendent of schools is an elected position.
  7. Darn, they do not offer a negative strength to get me up to 70......
  8. Don't bump into me, you might hurt me.
  9. Yup around here 6 more weeks of winter would mean an early spring.
  10. Here too. We are hoping for only 6 more weeks of winter.
  11. And Rum Balls
  12. At least we wont have to wait long........
  13. Sounds like a common issue. The o-ring on the drain valve goes bad with age. It only leaks when cold or very cold. The good news is it is a very easy fix. one screw, pullout the valve, keep an eye open for the spring and ball. Clean out the bore, install a new o-ring and reassemble. Skydoc_17 has a kit with the o-ring and a new stainless socket head screw.
  14. Just give it as close of a look all the way around for any cracks as possible. Use a magnifying glass. also give the one next to it a close inspection, the forces that broke that piece off were also present on the cup next to it. You do not want another piece breaking off after the engine is buttoned up and finding its way to a gear:scared:.
  15. :sign yeah that: Around here the tow truck will not touch a wreck with out the police involved. The city wants their donations.
  16. I am curious if they were handing out citations for "driving to fast for conditions" or "failure to maintain control" or whatever their equivalent is? With thousands of wrecks in just Atlanta it could be a windfall for the city. Around here if you crash in bad weather you will get to make a donation to the city. Even if you just slid into the ditch with no damage to anything.
  17. Yes tire rubber compound and tread pattern both have a lot to do with traction on snow. The Blizzak tire is the best snow tire on the market. They make a point to say that they should never be run on bare pavement because they will wear out very fast. They do have a very soft compound. I would never put an 80K tire on anything I drive, they are so hard that they do not get good traction on any surface. I only brought up tire pressure because that I a quick cheap easy fix for the best possible traction with what you already have. I can not see people in the south spending the bucks for good winter tires the will end up rotting in the garage.
  18. The problem with not checking the valves is that there are no symptoms of the adjustment being off. As the parts wear the clearance actually gets tighter. The first symptom is when it gets tight to the point that the valve no longer closes completely and you burn up the valve. There have been some people on here that had valves way out at 30K, others that have not checked till 60-70K and they were still good. How good did someone set yours up the day the bike was built?
  19. Must be one of those southern snow myths. My only guess is that IF you have badly warped rotors that it will cause them to grab at the high spot and start the skid? But a warped rotor should be taken care of as standard maintenance, not just snow prep. Tire pressure is actually the other way around. Increasing tire pressure will help in the snow. Traction on snow is pounds per square inch. That is why skinny tires work better than fat tires in snow. Increasing your tire pressure will reduce the size of the tire contact area with the road, which will increase your pounds per square inch and give better traction on snow. The increased pressure will also raise the bottom of the car up just a tad for more ground clearance. Getting traction on snow is very different from getting traction on mud or sand.
  20. Yup, That is what I do every time, I love driving in snow. The slicker it is the more fun I have. I usually stick to the side streets and back roads that have less traffic and more snow. Erika can not understand how I always seem to find a absolutely sound reason to "have" to go out in a snow storm. In my life time up here in Wisconsin I have never yet missed a day of work due to weather. I have never worked for any place that ever closed due to weather. The boss like to use the fact that I have a 21 mile commute and always make it in to pick on the guys that literally live 2 - 4 blocks away and "can not" make it in.
  21. As long as roads are dry and ice free, it should be no problem. Modern snowmobile gear is made to keep you warm outside in very cold temps and to ward off wind chill on a sled going 100+ mph.
  22. Back in the days before I learned what salt can do to aluminum I rode all winter even though I had a good car. There were many times that I got caught at work with several inches of partly cloudy on the roads. I was always amazed at just how well the bike did handle the snow. But then back in high school, I peddled my bike to school every day even if there was a foot of snow on the ground and still coming when I left home in the morning.
  23. I have found that they are usually doing pretty good if they can accurately tell you what the weather was yesterday or even better if they can tell you what it is right now ....... There should be laws against weather forecasters being in a office that does not at least have a window that they can look out of.
  24. It was fun in the ladies room last night. I guess we now know where the real parties happen.....
  25. The weatherman just said that this might be the first time that ALL 50 states have snow on the ground at the same time.
